Visited Shoreline Optometry last week for an eye exam and glasses. It was my first time going here and in general the first time getting my eyes checked in a few years. Upon entering the building you are required to wear masks, which in 2025 is uncommon, but appreciated. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. After waiting for maybe one minute I was already called back for my exam. The doctor was very efficient and thorough. On my exam there was once concern the doctor had, so they actually had me retake one of the eye tests to double check. When I got to try on glasses the lady helping me, I don't remember her name, unfortunately, but she was very kind and helpful. After I decided on a pair the total came to $125. I was about to use my debit card but she asked me if I had an FSA account (which I totally forgot about). This actually saved me money and made a big difference. Overall, this office is a 5/5. I will definitely be a returning patient. read more

I've been coming to this optometry since it was located on El Camino and Shoreline Rd and only Dr. Seger was the optometrist. It has since moved to its current location and there are two additional optometrist who practice in the same building. Dr. Seger is efficient and answers all my questions and concerns. He has seen my kiddo but he wasn't a good fit. Dr. Webb was a better fit as she is more kid friendly and is very patient and worked with my kiddo to complete the eye exam. After their initial visit I have always booked my child with her. She makes my kiddo feel at ease and is able to complete the entire eye exam at every visit. They carry a good selection of frames. The prices range from $$-$$$$. The ladies helping you pick out frames do their best to recommend frames that fit your face. They will check inventory for different colors and styles to meet your needs and wants. My recent visit was in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. I scheduled my visit late August and was unable to schedule with Dr. Seger so I scheduled with Dr. Webb. I was emailed detailed instructions as to how my appointment would go. I called the front office to let them know I was in the parking lot. They screened me on the phone for COVID-19 symptoms. I was asked to come inside and my temperature was checked at the door. I noticed the front desk was covered in plexi glass to keep the receptionist safe. Once I was cleared they completed my initial eye procedures prior to the exam. The door held a sign before I entered that the machines had been sanitized. After I left the room the sign changed to unsanitized. I was taken to a room to wait for Dr. Webb. Dr. Webb entered and realized my mask was making my glasses foggy so she grabbed another mask for me to wear so I didn't have foggy glasses as I completed the first part of my eye exam. I appreciate that she finds way to make things work to complete the eye exam efficiently. I like her energy and enthusiasm! I completed my eye exam and met the front desk to complete my transaction. While scheduling my appointment the front desk was responsive. The visit was efficient and I never crossed path with another patient. Those looking for frames were seated more than 6 feet apart. The parking lot is spacious. The entrance is right away to your right and easy to miss. Slow down as you get closer to the office. Overall glad with the adjustments this optometry office has made during the current pandemic. Dr. Seger and Dr. Webb meet our optical needs. read more

This was first time at Shoreline Optometry and I was very happy with the service and care all around. I want to another place for 30 years and my optometrist retired. I tried one other md there but it didn't feel the same. I also transition to Medicare so my out of pocket was now 100%. My vision hadn't changed in over 15 yrs so I decided until I found another md that I would feel comfortable I didn't get an eye exam for the last 3 yrs. So I read the reviews for Shoreline and thought it was time to get the exam. I was able to get an appt fairly quickly ~3 wks. The receptionists and physicians assistant were great. On top of that Dr Webb was fantastic. She was very thorough and gave me answers for all my questions. I think I found my new optometrist! Highly recommended!!! read more

Glad I decided to come in here for my eye exam and glasses. I was looking at other places before deciding but this was the closest and it accepts my Insurance. The receptionists are friendly, as soon as I called they were able to schedule me for the next day and patiently took my info. On the day of the appointment, I noticed that the inside was very clean and that they sanitize each room after costumers use them. I liked Dr. Nguyen, she was friendly and attentive. Answered all my questions and wasn't pushy when I declined a service. The other lady that helped me was nice too, she helped me pick the glasses I was interested in and never pushed me for the expensive frames nor rushed me. Everything is so professionally done! I worked for an optometrist many years ago where professionalism, efficiency and top notch skill was king. Shoreline Optometry is a mirror image to what I grew up on. The office is top notch, bright and airy and pristinely kept. Every employee in which we interacted was extremely professional, friendly, efficient, helpful and kind. The skill levels in this office are impressive as the staff is either very well trained or are selected by the doctors based on their top notch expertise. Dr. Seeger was the doctor for me and for my husband and he could have not been better. Again, very, very professional and knowledgeable. I have a vision issue and Dr. Seeger was so very kind when I struggled through some of their tests and didn't push or appear frustrated with me. I so appreciated that. This practice is top notch, with state of the art vision equipment and what appears to be a lab. Cleanliness is so important to me and as mentioned, it was spotless. The staff is extremely competent, skilled and very nice to work. Been going here for about 5 years now since I first got glasses. The ladies working at the front desk and those in charge of helping you pick your glasses have always been great. They always follow up promptly to set up your appointments and particular shout out to those working on your choice of glasses. They have a good selection of glasses out front. On my most recent visit Mindy helped me work out the best options based on my insurance since I changed employers. Even suggested I replace my old lenses on my sunglass with the empty ones from the new prescription glasses I got. That saved me a neat chunk of money. They're really popular and have a lot of long timers so appointments are hard to come by likely because people like me don't want to let go! read more

Had a fine experience with Dr. Lin. However, when I came in to get some glasses adjusted, the technician scratched one of the lenses. I had told them beforehand that the glasses had been purchased somewhere else, and they did not warn me that they don't take responsibility for damaging glasses in this case. I wish they had warned me, because then I might have held off on getting the adjustment (I just wanted them tightened slightly on the head). Now I have to purchase new glasses because there is a blurry patch on one of the lenses where the scratches are. Just a warning, avoid getting glasses adjusted here if you purchased them somewhere else! read more

This place is located very close to Googleplex (hence "Shoreline") and is not in the same "plaza" as other places. You will have to make an immediate turn in if you don't want to miss this place! The ladies here are super fabulous with helping you even after their 5 PM closing time (not encouraging this to happen everyday)! My daughter has been going to Dr. Seger for almost 15 years and has always received exceptional care. This review is for the front office and the office manager. My daughter had her eye exam in June 2021 and informed the front office that she will call in October 2021 to order the contact lens from out of state. According to VSP, it has to be at least one year from the last order, which was placed in October 2020 with Shoreline Optometry. She called on 10/5/2021 to place an order for a one-year supply of Acuvue contact lenses. She was told by the front desk receptionist that she is not eligible for the rebate since the order has to be placed within 60 days from the exam date, which was confirmed by the office manager. This seemed surprising to my daughter since last year, she placed her order MORE than 60 days after her eye exam date and still received the rebate. I called the office a few hours later to inform them that the Acuvue reward form clearly states that a purchase receipt, NOT an exam receipt, has to be within 60 days to qualify. The front desk receptionist told me that the office manager will get back to me, and I still have not heard back after 2 business days. While waiting for the manager to call me back, I emailed Acuvue to ask if the rebate reward will be honored if my daughter had her eye exam in June 2021 and the order for a one-year supply of contact lenses is placed in October 2021. Within 8 hours, I received the following response from Acuvue. " Thank you for reaching out to MyACUVUE® Rewards Customer Care. Per the Terms & Conditions, reward requests must be submitted within 60 days of purchase. You are still able to make your purchase and submit for a reward. " This clearly shows the incompetence of the front office as well as the office manager. At the end, we decided to take our business elsewhere for her contact lenses to save us the headache and aggravation and will come back to Dr. Seger in the future for an eye exam ONLY! " read more

Absolutely awesome team! Dr Webb is great. She explained all of the tests and the results so that I could make good informed decisions about what kinds of glasses I would need. Then there is Mary Nishikado. Mary helped me find the perfect frames for all of my needs. Fast forward to now. I had an accident with my everyday glasses. I sent them an email asking what my options were for repair or replacement. Mary called me back that evening and told me bring them in. So today I went in and she had checked. The frames were cracked. Fortunately they were covered by my insurance for replacement. They had the same frames in stock so in 15 minutes I was headed for home with my glasses. Fantastic service! Update: I had a long discussion with the doctor and she acknowledged some errors in the way VSP was applied for my case. During the phone call she also addressed all my concerns and fixed the billing error. My lower rating was only for the billing concerns and never for the quality of the care. The quality of the eye care has always been top notch. I have been visiting them for almost 5 years and I highly recommend them. The only action item for a patient is to look at the itemised bill for each visit and make sure that they have done their due diligence. read more

The experience was probably the most clinical and formal optometrist appointment I have ever had, and I've had glasses/contacts due to an astigmatism for 24 years! The selection left much to be desired. I would go back for the dr only, not the rest of the experience. The bedside manner isn't warm and inviting- just transactional, but thorough. I made an appt to replace a broken nose pad for my glasses. After like 15 mins they were telling me that they don't have something same as my old me and what's worse they lost my original nose pad! Yes, it's broken, but at least I can use it for now but then it's completely gone! Shouldn't you check if you have the replacement before you take mine off? While I liked my routine eye exam with Dr. Lin who is new to the clinic I am told, the office completely botched my insurance claim. They do not have Dr. Lin's credentials with Anthem Blue Cross in CA since 3 months now, and when I asked about out-of-network charges that I noticed even when the clinic had said they are in-network, the clinic advised me to work with Anthem BC to help get the provider credentialed. If them being in healthcare couldn't get it done, what would someone like me who is new to Healthcare in the US get done here. It's a pity because I really liked Dr. Lin but I would not return if the office transfers accountability for getting the provider credentialed to the patients even after confirming that they were in-network. If I was made aware of this, I would have asked for another provider who is in-network for this year. Sorry Dr. Lin, I had no problems with my eye exam with you, but please work with your office to get your insurance credentials. Patients have enough paperwork to handle and the purpose of going to an in-network provider is to avoid extra paperwork and get in-network prices. read more

I'm updating the review from 1 to 3 stars as a vote of confidence as they tried to improve the experience after all the issues I had. I visited this place for annual exam yesterday. My eyes were working perfectly. After the test, my right eye got an infection. It is swollen and is paining. This is a very horrible and scary experience. I would recommend staying away from this place. read more

First off let me just say if you're looking for a new optometrist this location is very good, definitely no red flags! Staff is super friendly, and nice. Things are a bit slow at times and given their hours do expect to wait for ~3 weeks for an appointment. The office itself is very modern, clean, and professional. The reason I only gave 4 stars: so I've needed glasses for almost 20 years now and have been wearing contacts for 10+ years and my prescription also hasn't changed for 10+ years. My prescription is very high so I usually like to take a few degrees off in both my contacts and glasses. Last year I decided to get a new pair of glasses, the doctor here recommended I get them at full prescription since I won't be wearing them often, and it'll be nice to have something that'll give me perfect vision, so I went with it. For whatever reason this year my eyes felt dryer than usual so I ended up wearing these glasses about half the time, and when I came in for my checkup this year, my vision got WORSE. Turns out, you can't wear your full prescription for close-up stuff like working on a computer, or your vision will get worse! This is the first time this has happened to me in 10 years, and what's worse is I can't get LASIK this year anymore, because your vision needs to be stable for at least 1 year :( Now I admit before prescribing these they did ask me how often I planned on wearing them, but this seems like an important thing to mention!! The doctor did explain to me that the dryness this year is due to all the pollen in the air from the rain. She was clearly very knowledgeable and answered all my question patiently, and I admit this case it's not completely their fault, and not a frequently occurring situation, but it just seemed like something you should warn your patients about :/ my last optometrist in San Carlos felt like they genuinely cared more. Another minor thing is they sent me an email meant for another patient (about their insurance info) - nbd, but I hope this doesn't happen frequently and private info get sent to the wrong person by accident. Overall as I said it's a nice place and I will be going back, but you may need to be more proactive about asking questions. read more

After his annual checkup with Dr. Seger, my husband ordered some glasses and he was called in twice to pick them up, but both the times he was told at the front desk that his glasses weren't ready. Obviously, he got a little miffed and spoke to Dr. Seger about the mismanagement of the situation. The next day, Dr. Seger came personally to our home to deliver my husband's glasses!!! We were completely dumbfound at his humbleness. Dr. Seger, didn't have to do this, but we want to thank him on this forum for taking care of his patients and going over and beyond his call of duty. My husband and I both had our first appointments with Dr. Webb today. I cannot say enough about the service provided by her and her staff! Dr. Webb is incredibly personable, funny, and knowledgeable in her field. Anastasia provided me with a complete breakdown of my insurance benefits, then she assisted in helping me find the perfect pair of frames. Additionally, I've found with many medical practices that the front office can be short and inattentive. This was not the case at Shoreline Opt. The receptionist greeted me immediately, knew I was a new patient, and chatted with me for a moment before handing me my new patient forms. I came from an optometry office in the heart of San Francisco that seemed more concerned with production than their patients. I am so pleased to say Shoreline Optometry feels more like a practice interested in the longevity of their patients and their eye health than the present moment. I never once felt rushed by Dr. Webb or her staff. I would highly recommend anyone in need of a new optometrist to book an appointment here! read more

Pros: -The optometrists - Dr. Seger & Dr. Mahajerani are excellent - experienced, knowledgeable and attentive to their patients. I trust my eye health in their care. -Moderately simple to schedule appointments and wait times are manageable. -Back office seems to be ok and helpful too Cons: -Front office staff is disorganized. I placed my order for a 6 month supply of contacts, which took longer than normal since they were training a new staff member (not an issue, as they informed this was happening so no problem) except there were about 3 people (trainee, sales person, front office person) behind the desk and no one seemed to be on the same wavelength with placing my order and estimating arrival. The whole experience was unprofessional and clearly inefficient. -I was also put off by the sales person who was helping me look for reading glasses. There's a fine line between consultative and pushy and her attempt to sell me on their styles because "it's just better to order there" left an odd impression. **Side note: I was given a 2 week trial until my 6 month supply of Daily throwaway lenses arrived. I was at the end of my supply so the expectation was that my contacts would arrive early the following week. I didn't receive an email that my contacts were in until end of week, Friday. Unfortunately due to their shorter office hours wasn't able to pick them up until Monday. Fast forward to Monday, I check in and the front office person brings my contacts out - 5 days worth?! At this point I'm terribly frustrated. The front office person does nothing to mitigate the error when I inform her I placed an order for a 6 month supply, her only response is to offer to order them again. But common sense - who would want to order lenses for 5 days when I've nearly trialed them for almost 14?! So while I'm OK getting my eyes examined here , I'll opt out on ordering contacts or glasses to a business with more pleasant and organized staff. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I like Dr. Webb and because I was new in town and didn't know where else to go. However, Shoreline optometry gave me the wrong prescription for contact lenses and glasses four times! I don't know why I kept going back to them, but I am moving to another optometrist now. I spoke with them directly about the issues I was facing and they apologized and mentioned they would work on their mistakes. However, I tried to place another order with them for contact lenses, and the person on the phone was about to order the wrong prescription once again! She also mentioned she would call me back after speaking with Dr. Webb and finding out what my prescription was, but she never called me back (this happened to me various times.) I am giving them two stars because I've experienced better. Their main business is to prescribe contact lenses and glasses, but they don't keep good track of the patient's prescriptions on file. read more

I have always had a great experience with Dr. Seger and the staff who help order frames, but have had terrible experiences with the rest of the staff. Last year, I was charged services that I was told I would not be charged for, and it took weeks to work out the mistake with billing. More recently, I ordered contacts through them. When I called to ask if my contacts had come in, I was told that they were in the office and I needed an appointment to dispense them. When I arrived for my appointment a week later, I discovered that the contacts had never been ordered. They did not have any trial contacts that would work for me, so I have gone two weeks without contacts. When I called the office later to clarify what had happened, and to find out when my contacts would arrive, the person over the phone was very rude and implied that I had misunderstood when I booked my appointment, then abruptly ended the phone call. It seems like each time I call the office I have a similarly negative experience. This is very frustrating because the staff who help select and order frames are wonderful, but I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff. read more

Dr. Seger went above and beyond once again, and helped to save my eye during a recent emergency. I was on vacation, up in the mountains, and my right eye started having some weird symptoms. I saw lightning bolts, and then for several days my vision had a "veil" or smudge-like cloud. With no cell reception in the mountains, I found a pay phone and called Dr. Seger. He stepped away from his busy schedule to talk to me on the phone, and cautioned that this was an extremely serious situation. He said I needed to be seen immediately by a local Ophthalmologist. He asked where I was vacationing, and even CALLED the local Ophthalmologist. While I waited on the pay phone, I heard Dr. Seger urgently ask the medical office to get the Ophthalmologist on the phone and arrange an appointment for me. Later that day, the Ophthalmologist confirmed that I needed emergency eye surgery to save the eye. I decided to come back to the Bay Area, to have the surgery near home. I called Dr. Seger to update him, and he once again put his busy schedule aside and connected me to a skilled Ophthalmologist on San Mateo. I had the surgery the next day, and my eye was saved. Dr. Seger didn't have to do any of that. Some doctors might have just had me deal with their staff, while they tended to their busy schedule of patients. But not Dr. Seger. He put everything aside, twice, to make sure I go the help I needed and promptly. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude!! read more
