The eye doctor is good but the service is horrible! They made my glasses last year and made a mistake on the lens. Since I had a couple extra pairs of glasses, I waited for a few months to go back. When I went today, this lady - who was pretty rude, shared that she just has a new lens and needs my old frame, which I dont have. Its a new financial year so I am eligible for a new frame but she asked me to pay for that?? It's happened a couple times before - they just want to MINT $$$$ and give you all sorts of expensive options till you put your foot down! I am definitely changing my optometrist for this reason!! read more

Vicky has decades of experience helping people chose frames that accentuate their best features, and she has expert knowledge fitting lenses. I like a quote that she said, "Bad frames should not happen to good people." My husband once purchased frames (from a different shop) that did not fit him well; the frames weren't suitable for the distance between his pupils; they weren't correct for the height of his features; my husband quickly abandoned that pair of glasses. I tried this optometrist because my existing optometrist did not have an appointment for weeks, and I was out of contact lenses. Overall, despite spending $1k on eye exams and a year's supply of contact lenses, I had a painfully awful experience. This was due to a series of mishandling and mistakes by Eye Lite, which was deeply exacerbated by the insincere, rude, and at times verbally abusive behavior of their assistant Berenice. As a quick summary: * The eye exam felt rushed. The doctor wanted to keep my same prescription, without digging into my complaints of blurry vision. * The office did not have any samples of contact lenses that I was prescribed. Instead, I was asked to order them without having tried them a single time. * The office never explained that if I ordered the contact lenses, I would be locked into that decision and I would not be able to exchange any boxes, even if they were unopened (which was allowed at my previous optometrist). * As noted previously, I was completely out of contact lenses so time was of essence. The office asked to ship directly to my home and cited 7 days, but they took 12 days to arrive. * The office never explained that if I had picked up my contact lenses at the office instead, this would have cut the ETA in half. I live 10 minutes from the office, so I would have greatly preferred this option (but it was never explained to me). * The contacts I received resulted in blurry vision. The office is refusing to accept returns, so I am stuck with $800 worth of daily contacts that I cannot use. I ordered the correct contact lenses through a different company as I did not feel comfortable working with this optometrist any longer. * While trying to navigate the above issues, their assistant Berenice behaved like a verbally abusive partner, rather than treating me with some common decency as I tried earnestly to find reasonable solutions to the above issues. This included speaking very loudly and combatively over the phone, ignoring my questions, and shouting things like "EXCUSE ME. I am talking. Do not speak while I am talking." The behavior was frankly appalling and inexcusable in any setting, let alone in a professional environment while dealing with a customer. Needless to say, I would avoid this business at all costs. We are fortunate enough to have many good options for optometrists in the Bay Area. A business that treats their customers in this way does not deserve our time or consideration. read more

I've been here a few times: once for an eye exam to get a new contact lens prescription during Dec. 2020, picking out frames for prescription eye glasses during July 2021, and stopping by to pick them up during August 2021. All of my experiences with the staff and optometrist that I saw, Dr. Dong, were pleasant, no one gave me a feeling of being rushed or any bad/off vibes. My last ophthalmologist in SF (Dr. Hirabayashi, he has since retired) was nice, but he was one of those people who liked to talk about himself a lot and would just briefly ask you questions, then go back to talking about himself and ultimately his assistant would end up handling the majority of the appt. Dr. Dong had more of a genuinely kind, caring demeanor and really did a great job explaining things and making sure you felt comfortable. When it came time to pick out glasses, I especially appreciated the help that I'd received from Yujie (forgive me if I spelled the name wrong!) during my first appt to pick out frames. She assisted me in picking out a bunch of frames, which was of great help (since I had blindly just picked out random ones that I felt may look good on me, but ended up being so-so or poor choices) and I loved how she was very sweet during the entire process and explained everything regarding different frame types, lenses and *price comparisons, thoroughly. I also truly appreciated the nice lady who Yujie got help from on my last visit on 8.14.2021, in order to adjust the nose pads of the glasses so they'd fit my face correctly - I didn't get her name, but she patiently adjusted my glasses at least a dozen times and I was impressed! These two employees could've easily spent less time with helping me out, but they didn't cut corners and didn't end up doing a job half done, which speaks volumes about the level of service the ladies provide. Highly recommend Eye Lite Optometry. *I'm glad that I had gotten my glasses now when I have vision insurance, since it knocked off at least $500 from the total price! Even though I wear contact lenses during the majority of the time, I was wearing the same prescription glasses for at least 20 years and it was about damn time for a new pair! read more

I would not recommend eye lite optometry based on my recent experience. The doctor wasn't able to finalize my contact lenses prescription to my satisfaction after multiple attempts. My vision was still blurry and I wasn't happy with the prescription. I had to go to a different doctor (& ended up paying exam and fitting charges twice) and the new doctor recommended me contact lenses without astigmatism. I am wearing my new contact lenses for a month now and they work great. Eye Lite Optometry wasn't able to identify why my vision was still blurry, the doctor was prescribing contact lenses with astigmatism while my vision did not have astigmatism. I am glad I chose to go to a different optometry and got the prescription that made my vision clear. Also, my new doctor's charges are 50% of what I paid at Eye Lite Optometry. read more

Dr Audrey Chu is great. She's personable, efficient, careful, considerate and attentive. The eye exams are a pleasure and I leave feeling confident my eyes are looked after well. She also looks after my children's eyes, which has been great as well. This is an excellent eye glass store and optometry office. It's extremely well run (front office and back), and Dr. Audrey Chu is one of the best eye doctors I have ever encountered. While I received decent service for many years once the office expanded I have a lot more fees and higher prices. I stayed because it's a huge pain to switch. However, the extra costs have finally gotten to me. Maybe most people in the area can afford it but I can't. There are now a ton of "extras" recommended during exams. Their glasses start at several hundred dollars if you need frames. Also, not being told I need a follow-up and then having to pay for the follow up because I didn't do it "soon enough" is not something I appreciate. Not being told that my contact prescription is no longer available and having to pay for a refit because I waited until I needed new contacts to order and then "whoops, no longer available, I guess they have been phasing these out..." These may be small things to others but it adds up to a lot of extra time and extra fees. I am sorry because I liked the doctors who were there originally and the staff. They were helpful. read more

Seriously impressed with how seriously Dr. Ramde and the Eye Lite staff take their social distancing precautions! I came for my first appointment today and left feeling totally comfortable about being in the office and also about the care. A few things they're doing: 1) you call when you arrive and answer questions about your health and also the purpose of your visit. This makes sure that you're spending as little time in the office as possible and makes the whole thing faster! 2) very few people in the office. When I arrived there was one other patient in a different part of the store and when I left I was the only one 3) the door is locked so no walk-ins. Before I was allowed in I had my temperature taken (no contact) 4) no dilation to reduce contact, instead had a pic taken of my eyes 5) purell everywhere! And wiped. Everything wiped down after every patient 6) everyone was masked and even face shields Overall definitely a great experience that didn't make me nervous to be there. Dr. Dong gets my prescription perfect every time and she is just a very pleasant person who I always look forward to seeing. I was really impressed with optician Vicky who is clearly a seasoned pro at what she does. She tirelessly helped me select the right frame and lens package over multiple visits. Although she gave us plenty of help and support, I never felt rushed or pressured to buy like in some other places. I called Eye Lite today (a Saturday) in a bit of a panic due to eye pain. I had accidentally poked my left eye with a mascara wand two days ago. Their office was able to squeeze me in between appointments. Not only was the staff incredibly sweet and accommodating, but Dr. Chu is very personable and made the appointment a complete breeze. If I weren't moving out of state in a few months, I'd become a full time patient - I highly recommend! read more

I visited this office based on the stellar reviews and the proximity to my home. I probably wouldn't make a return visit, however, based on my experience. The front office staff is unwelcoming and makes you feel like you are inconveniencing them when you check in for your appointment. They asked for my prescription which I showed to them on my phone (the actual file sent from my previous optometrist's office) so they could note it down in my file. When it came time for the eye exam, the doctor realized that the prescription for my eyes was swapped and then accused me of giving them the incorrect information which I was slightly annoyed about since I directly showed my prescription to the front office staff and wasn't an error on my part at all. The physical office itself is very nice, clean with newer looking machines, and there is plenty of street parking. I didn't browse the selection of frames they had since I ordered contacts but they seemed to have a sizeable selection. Wish the people were nicer, though. My search for a new optometry office continues. read more

I went in last week for my eye exam and was very impressed with the staff taking the COVID-19 safety guidelines seriously. Before returning the credit card back to me, the staff even used a sterile alcohol pad to clean it. I received a very detailed explanation from Dr. Chu on my eye image, and the optician was helpful and knowledgeable on the frames. read more

Dr. Ramde corrected my prescriptions to 20/20. My previous optometrist did a poor job and Dr. Ramde immediately pointed out the old one was wrong. Now I can see a lot more clear, especially driving at night. She is very patient and trustworthy. I will visit her again next year. Vicky is knowledgeable and helpful. I love all the frames she picked for me. Unfortunately, I could only take 2 due to my insurance policy :) She knows what frames work for my strong prescription. Now I found it fun to shop for glasses. Maria the office manager is bubbly and did a good job adjusting my frames. The frames are more on the expensive side. However, they are stylish and well-constructed. I'm willing to pay for the frames that make me feel comfortable and look smart. P.S. I read other reviews regarding some unfriendly/unhelpful staff. Once I asked a staff member to adjust my frame and she carelessly dropped the glasses on the floor (gasp!). Another time, a staff member was supposed to welcome customers but she looked sullen and was not very welcoming at all. Nothing is perfect. The worst, most stressful, malfunctioning Customer Service I've *ever* received in all my 50+ years of Eyeglass shopping!! First, I ordered a blue colored frame for $15 which took 8 days because they forgot to open the boxes for a day or 2. Second, as that frame unfortunately I turned out not to look or feel all that good, I went elsewhere to find another frame which I brought to this shop because I had reason to believe that their lense lab was superior to my usual optometry shop. Vicky told me that she would rush the order because I have a trip coming up. Third, after that I showed her my sunglasses which I still liked but asked about replacing the lenses because of the mirror coating beginning to peel off. Vicky at first started to clean the lenses and then quite suddenly began to pop both lenses OUT of the frame with absolutely NO warning whatsoever!! She told me she had to clean around the frames which no one has ever ever done in *any* shop on *any* pair of my glasses! Unfortunately that caused the fragile frame to break so suddenly I had NO sunglasses!!! And they're my favorite pair *ever*!!!! She assured me that she could get me a replacement pair by Wednesday of the following week. Also that she'd call me later that Friday afternoon to let me know which she actually never got around to doing because she was waiting to hear back. Well with one thing and another I didn't actually get them back for another *5* days after the Wednesday date so I had to go a 2nd weekend without my beloved sunglasses. (she lent me a horrible over the glasses pair that let sunlight in) Quite frustrating indeed! Fourth, when I finally came in to pick up my 'new' sunglasses, Vicky also returned the other frames which I thought were being made into regular glasses and said that they/she could "no longer work with me"! I mean, that's cutting off your nose to spite your face, isn't it? Since those frames had been sent off 10 days ago when I first came in, she must have immediately called the lense lab so as to cancel the order because she was so angry that I was so upset about having.my frames *broken* rather than fixed which is what one usually goes to an optometry shop for;(( Fifth, As I was leaving, the store manager, Maria, weakly defended the situation by saying "well you have a new set of sunglass frames" to which I responded "I didn't need that nor did I come in for that purpose!". And now I was set back more than a week on my new regular eyeglasses, in addition, quite ridiculous! So buyer beware! Too bad because they have such a nice large selection of frames! I am very lucky that Dr. Yuen checked my eyes. During the eye exam, she found that I had high pressure in the eyes and found signs of glaucoma. Dr. Yuen sent me to specialist and I had needed surgery. Now I am ok. I recommend Dr. Yuen to anyone. She is very, very good. read more

Went in for my eye exam and to get new glasses. Was very satisfied with the safety protocols in place to keep patients and staff safe. I was asked to call just before I arrived so they could ask safety questions. My temp was taken at the door before I came in. All staff had their PPE on.
