I recently got new cycle shoes and Hayden was so helpful! I loved the effort and time he put in to making sure my cleats fit right and we're in the right spot! Also, I was having issues with my pedal and Kent helped me with a new pedal and made it so that my ride was exactly as it should be! The place was busy and I didn't have to wait at all. They are well staffed and knowledgeable. Everybody was very kind, courteous and helpful! I recommend coming here for all your cycle needs. We've been waiting to get into mountain biking tails and off road. I absolutely fell in love with the Specialized bike, I realized this was the only bike I smiled with while riding it. So this was the one. The customer service was nice and they were able to special order the color and specks I wanted in my bike. Which I went with a Hardtail Specialized Mountain Bike. Came in here shopping for a set of wheels for my road bike and they were the 5th or 6th shop I visited. With some shops, the techs were a little vague on what they could provide, and others simply quoted more than what my budget would allow. But enough about the others, these guys at Sierra Cyclesmith understood what I was looking for, gave me a number of options, some of which were within my price-range and budget. They ordered the wheels, installed them, added a couple new disks, checked what else the bike might need (not much), and when I picked up the bike it was shiny, clean, and ready to roll! Throughout the process their communications were outstanding. I also appreciated that they didn't try to move me into an e-Bike as other shops have done. For the aforementioned reasons, I highly recommend this shop if you are shopping for a new bike, gear upgrades, accessories, and/or service. Check 'em out! read more

Unhappy with the outcome of a recent warranty fix where their lack of communication cost me out of pocket to fix a 1 month old bike that REI could have fixed and billed the manufacturer for parts and labor. I tried to problem solve with them, received an eye roll and literally had an employee that got up and walked away while I was simply asking why I was on the hook for a warranty repair. Literally acted like my teen daughter. Another staff who I know has been there a while tried helping, but then gave me false information that warranties don't typically cover labor in order to get me to pay and leave (not the case with Cannondale at least). Emailed owner, waited a week, no response. Lost my business in the future, which sucks, as we have few options in Reno. read more

place has lots of mechanical experience with bicycles. Encyclopedic. Bikes on the brain. You just have to go there to get that sense and notice the volume of bikes they have. When they said they would take care of it they helped me out with my bike rack immediately, no wait, certainly took care of it, they knew exactly how to handle it, and patiently listened to my story of my journey and fears of the potential for desert winds taking down my rack set up or causing the bike to have vigorous jolts or awkward twists and turns. Seriously, took extra care and wrenched the bungi cord down that I brought with me so my bike would hold tight. Friendly, chilled, professional. I felt very safe and protected for my long, dreary, tedious Eastward bound trip ahead. read more

These people said that the hub on my bike would not work and that I could not ride my bike without replacing the hub or buying a new wheel. I took it to a nearby bike shop and I was informed that my bike in fact would work completely fine with a little adjustment and some actual care for the customers needs. I was only charged $46.39 for a repair and a new rotor. It took only 15 minutes. I waited 6 days for Sierra cyclesmith to tell me they weren't goi g to help me and they were going to charge me $346. Literally this shop and it's employees are sheisters that only care about money. They turned me away because I was told by an employee that I was able to do financing on a repair, which was false. I was then told " We're not going to be the bike shop that helps you." Overall I don't recommend this shop. 1/10 stars. read more

Went in today figuring we would drop off my daughter's mountain bike for a tune up for an upcoming race. Evan greeted us at the door and immediately started to not only look over her bike but also spent so much time showing my 15 year old daughter her bike, how to adjust things on her own and just general information. We offered to just drop and go since they were so busy but Evan assured us it was ok for us to get it all done now. All of the young guys in there working were friendly, polite and knowledgeable. I expected the cost to be three times what we paid! We went a couple months ago to get my daughter a high quality helmet and the gentleman who helped us spent more time concerned with getting her a great fitting helmet rather than selling us the most expensive helmet. These guys are great. They know their stuff, their prices are very good. While I was in the store a number of customers came in- everyone got great customer service, from the smallest item to major sales. Their price for a basic tuneup was half what I found elsewhere, and with a bike that wasn't worth putting the money into, they told me and turned the job away, when other shops I've been to would have soaked me for it. As soon as we entered the store Ted became our "person" and guided my husband and I to a couple of fabulous Pivot bikes. I had purchased a full suspension mountain bike from SC and the initial experience was awesome. They were friendly, set up my tires for tubeless, removed the crummy plastic pedals and put on new ones complementary since I purchased the parts in shop. I left pretty happy. To this day, the bike is still in good shape and was assembled well. I'm knocking stars off because I came in for my free tune up, and I feel like I was nickel and dimed. I had noticed recently that the sealant in my tires had dried up (that's normal) and so when asked if I've had any problems, I told him my tires have been going flat and I think the sealant is dried up. So he shows me two bottles of sealant he's gonna use and tells me it's $4/each. Sure, that's fine I'll pay for parts. When I go to pay, the guy at the cash register hits me with a $10.50 per tire labor fee (which was apparently discounted too?) to refresh the sealant in my tire! Wtf it's literally a 2 minute or less process (remove valve core, squeeze sealant in, inflate tire). Shoot, if I was told you're gonna charge me $21 to do that I would have done it myself (the guy didn't mention the labor price when I told him about the low sealant in my tires). The guy at the register was also telling I need to spend $450 per year to keep my bike in good shape...um no? I'm an average trail rider, not Dan Atherton, I don't need to spend that much unless something big breaks. Maybe if I have SC do all the labor for every thing sure it'll be $450. I paid the price because the labor was already done, but it left a sour taste in my mouth that refreshing the sealant was 10.50/tire (which was already apparently discounted) in labor when I was already having my checkup. It didn't help that the cashier also mentions how I'm supposed to spend $450 per year to keep my bike running. I wouldn't recommend SC for labor because it seems like they are really expensive. I'm also probably going to look at other bike shops when I need another bike as well. read more

Sierra Cycling is a great place to purchase a bike. Also, locally owned. I am always one to support local store. We went in here with the mind set to buy a bike and boy we were not disappointed. They have quality bikes here. I have bought bikes from other places and disappointed with them. I'll give you a short story. I bought a bike from Walmart one time and word it around town the same day. I broke pedals the same day. I always say that products I buys should be Marine proof. This bike I bought from Walmart was not Marine proof. I know, I know. I messed up by buying Walmart anyways. I learned my lesson. But Sierra Cyclesmith has quality items. I will say I did not break the bike the first day haha. But who knows I might break it another time. I always seem to break things quickly. The staff is awesome. They are knowledgeable and very helpful. The have helmets, bike tires, reflectors, baby carriers for bikes, other accessories, used bikes for sale, new bikes for sale and much more. They also do repairs and tune ups on bikes. If you are a cycling enthusiast you should definitely visit this shop and if you a beginner you should also visit. The prices are competitive to the big names as well. Like I said I love supporting local because it makes it better for everyone. I would highly recommend these guys. Parking is not ample but there has never been a time when I couldn't find a spot every time I came by. You can also test ride a bike here if you want. I always recommend test riding it before you purchase. That could make a huge difference if you find out when you get hike and the bike doesn't workout for you. Rather than making me wait until the part arrived, they pulled the part off a new bike and got me back in the saddle within a day. We've tried several times to have our bikes fixed here. The first time they actually made the bike worse than it was before - chain started falling off the gears on a regular basis after they 'fixed it'. Then we went recently for a tube change and stood in line for quite a while. They started helping people who came in after us and ignored us completely. We left the shop and headed over to Great Basin where we were treated with warmth and consideration. Great Basin took care of our issues immediately. During the Coronavirus pandemic I understand the need to limit people in the store. Before entering the sign says no more than 10 people including employees. There were no customers and only 5 employees and this one sale associate had an attitude not wanting to let us in the shop to look at bike accessories. One guy behind the counter spoke up and said it's ok with the amount of people inside but this sales associate had a bad attitude the entire time and felt we were telling him how to do his job. We were wearing masks and wanted to browse for a few things. Nobody was in there shopping but us. I hope he gets fired or they go out of business for their poor customer service when I am trying to support a local business. read more

I am over-late in writing this review. I have purchased 2 bikes from Leon and crew... 2015 and 2017. I can't say enough about the service. fairness they offered, the value of a professional fitting. What prompts THIS review though is the tune-up of my Stump Jumper. I was ashamed to drop the thing off, as It really had been "rode hard and put away wet" 4 months ago. Not only was I not "judged," when I picked up the bike up (after just a couple of days no less), I did not recognize it. The bile was so clean I thought it was new... seriously. I did my first little ride... and rides better than new too. There are a lot of bike shops in town... it's important to find the right one. If you are wondering which one is the right one... Not sure what the hype is. I had a mixed experience. I took my mtb in to be rebuilt after I moved here. I left an amazing local bike shop behind and was looking forward to finding my new bike home. I walked in with my bike box in tow, and... Crickets. No eye contact, no greeting, no acknowledgement from the five - FIVE - staff working behind the counter. Finally one of them looked at me and asked, "What you got there?" They all loosened up a bit after that, joking about the bike name and such. They said it might take up to a week; fine, I wasn't in a big hurry. Next day I'm out running errands and my phone rings - "Hey, your bike is ready." WHOA! Great! I'd have to pick it up Monday since it was almost their closing time and they're closed Sundays. No problem, he said. Monday afternoon I went in to the shop. Again with the no greeting, no eye contact, no acknowledgement. After a bit a guy came to the counter and asked what I needed. Told him I was there to pick up my bike. He acted like it was a big hardship and was quickly redirected to a brake adjustment by another guy who never looked at me, never told me if everything looked good, if they did a tune-up - just took my money, took me outside to get my bike, and that was that. I was so surprised at getting the bum's rush that I didn't even ask any questions. As I put my bike on my rack, I noticed that the stanchions on my fork were all cruddy. If they did lube my fork, they didn't bother wiping down the stanchions afterwards. Had I not been taught to keep them clean, I'd have been in for a costly replacement when all that dirt got into my fork. With the complete lack of friendly service and the initial appearance of the tune up along with the report of an excellent experience my husband had at another shop, I won't be returning. read more

Went shopping for a mountain bike a few months ago and decided to stop in Sierra Cyclesmith one Monday afternoon. Did not have anything picked out but knew my price range and pretty much the options I hoped to get. The sales person was very knowledgable, friendly and helpful. They had several bikes to choose from in my size and let me test ride them in the parking lot. I left to see what a few other places had to make sure I did my due diligence. The other shops I went to were also helpful but did not have any bikes for me to try at that time and selection in one was limited. I retured to Sierra Cyclesmith on Wednesday afternoon and got a different sales person who again was very knowledgable, helpful and left with a new bike that day. After talking to a friend about what I should be carrying with me when riding he suggested a get a spare master chain link. I stopped at the shop to pick one up. After spending the kind of money I did on a bike there I thought they would just hand me one at no charge but I had to pay $6 for it. That was disappointing but I stopped back with an issue I had with a valve stem and they totally took care of me late in the afternoon on a Saturday. read more

Alex started off helping me with my bike, then he left and Steven helped me. Picked out a bike and he said I could get a version in my price range! Steven knew everything I was asking for and has kids of his own which helped. He understood my skill level and answered all of my questions. Went back a week later and bought bicycles for my kids and a bike and trailer for myself! So pleased with the staff! They also offer workshops on how to take care of your bicycle- fix a flat, etc. So I will definitely be going to that! This place has been around forever. Was referred to this shop for a good place to go for a bike fitting. Stopped by on a busy Saturday, Jordan was very helpful reviewing saddle options and sharing his expertise on the latest in helmet options. Called back on Monday to schedule time with Leon for the fitting, said come on by same day! Leon spent a good hour not only helping with saddle, shoe and bike adjustments but even providing me a spare tool for my bike rack. Customer service at its finest! I would have spent more on a saddle, but Leon recommended my trying a lower priced version first, ride it and come back in a couple of weeks if it doesn't work.
