First time here and I'm not very familiar with bicycles but the place is organized and clean, with a garage-feel. People were very helpful and I love seeing the community-feel.

Lots kids bikes to choose from

On a sunny Saturday afternoon they can be kinda busy. But not too busy to help everyone. Bye bye faithful 10 speed. All those miles to college, pulling the burley cart with a toddler and groceries and just pedaling around town, you were a great bike. But now it's time to be someone else great ride. Reno Bike Project, a nonprofit community shop that takes bike donations and recycles them into the community at affordable prices. They also offer bike repair workshops and provide a space for locals to repair their own bikes for a small donation. Hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10-5 Thursday, Friday 10-6pm Saturday 10-5pm Sunday 11- 4pm Check them out at - renobikeproject.org Great place !!

I simply cannot say enough great things about my recent experience with RBP. After my son got his first "real mountain bike" last spring, he's been eager to learn more about how to tinker on it and fix little things that pop up with it all on his own. After doing a bit of searching online, I wound up on the RBP website reading about their Bike Repair Class, and I reached out via email to find out whether it would be an option for my son (12yo) to take the class. Andy was quick to get back to me and said that they'd be open to having him attend the class with myself or my husband there to chaperone. Over 9 weekly classes, my son completely overhauled a bike that will now be provided to a community member through RBP's Biggest Little Commuter program. He has gained so many skills and knowledge to give him a great foundation for learning to work on his own bike, AND he gained so much confidence through this class! Even this mom, who was only there to "chaperone" learned a ton. Our instructors for the class were Ray and Chai, both of whom were really SO great. My son has a motor coordination disorder which made some of the tasks, particulary those that required very fine motor skills, to be challenging for him, but both Ray and Chai were always there to offer encouragement, as well demonstrate other techniques or tricks that he could utilize to make it that he COULD do all of the things and use the tools correctly. They were always incredibly patient, and I often left our classes feeling a tad bit emotional over seeing how kind and encouraging they were of this kid who was just SO excited to be having the opportunity to learn from them. On our final night of the class, we brought his own bike into the shop, and Andy (who was actually on his way out the door when we arrived) stayed to help my son do a couple of repairs on his own bike, and my kiddo was so proud of the many kind things Andy, Ray, and Chai said about his own bike - it really meant so much. The particularly incredible thing about this class is that it is offered for free to members. (The membership itself was only $20.) There is a $50 deposit for the class, which is returned after you complete the class and volunteer 8 hours of time. While we have chosen to donate our deposit to this fantastic organization, we are both very much looking forward to volunteering during school breaks. They also have every imaginable part available, many both new and used, at great price points. I purchased a brand new tire and tube for the kiddo's bike for less than retail and loved knowing it's helping to support their great work along the way. I also appreciate that our membership allows us use of their workspaces and tools for times when his bike may require repairs that aren't as easily done at home without the bike stand and/or specialty tools.

I have to say I am so impressed with Shay specifically everyone else was nice but Shay went above and beyond to assist me with fixing a bike that originally I was quoted a total which was worth more then the value. After review my needs Shay simplified it and the task was easier then anticipated to them ( challenge for me ). Shay you are true rockstar and hope you get recognized for this! People go here to bring your box to get fixed, learn how to fix it or donate it for parts!

One of the best things "bike" going in Reno. Need a bike and don't have a lot of money? Go here. Have a bike that you want to donate and get a tax write-off instead of sending to the dump? Go here. Need to repair your bike and can't afford a professional mechanic, don't have the tools, or don't know how to fix a bike? Go here. Centrally located in Reno and welcoming atmosphere.

And how do you NOT spend $50 on every visit here... Came here to check out bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes, etc. But ending up buying a new boot on clearance. Atmosphere - Good size location. Plenty of private parking. Service - Mostly self service. The shoe salesperson, the only person helping 10 people, did a good job. There were 4 people working in the bike area, and no one acknowledged me?!?! And these bikes go for like $7k. I am not sure I want an e-bike yet; I just want to stay as young and long as possible. Very friendly salesperson. Price - $150 ish. Good deal for the quality of boot I got. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1938! I like the COOP concept and $30 lifetime membership model. Many of my friends are loyal customers due to this model. You created a good and strong culture. Keep up the good work.
