The food here has always been incredible. I get the veggie burger, and it's always perfectly cooked, the fries are crispy, and the homemade sauces are worth adding on. I tried the churros once, and while they were good, I was wishing for some ice cream to dip them in. I mentioned it, and they say they're adding a soft serve machine (though it's backordered now). When they do, it will be the ideal complement to the churros, and I won't have even a single thing for them to improve on. The patio is incredible, and the staff is always friendly. I ordered lunch for 25 people, a combination of carnivores nd vegetarians. Each guest thoroughly enjoyed their lunch. How often does that happen?! (Rarely.) It was a hit! Mike, the founder and owner of Sideshow, personally coordinated and delivered our order. Communication flowed quickly and clearly. I was very happy to receive his timely delivery -- not too early to cause the food to get cold before serving and not too late to make me nervous. It's a delicate balance. The lemonades were beautiful (yellow, blue, and light orange) and festive. They tasted great, not too sweet, and added a playfulness to our event. Nice touch. We got the grilled salmon sandwich and the sideshow burger with one order of regular fries and one order of garlic fries. The grilled salmon sandwich is a must try! So tender and juicy and really flavorful! The bun is soft and holds the sandwich well. The burger was pretty good, it was hefty and messy, the way a burger should be. To me it could have used a bit more seasoning on the patties. The fries were also pretty good, I probably prefer the plain over the garlic fries. The staff was really nice and the wait for the food wasn't too long. They have outdoor dining but we decided to take ours home. I introduced my friends to this place for lunch, since they have a large outdoor seating. They enjoyed their food and visit. I ordered the Hyphy fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich is huge. The fried chicken is a nice large piece, served in half. This made the sandwich huge for a one bite person. I found the spicy cole slaw not that spicy. But it was indeed a good sandwich. The crinkle cut fries were excellent. It tasted like Jack in the box seasoned curly fries. Just as I hope to expect from my last time I came here years ago. We ordered the Sideshow burger and the double patty burger with bacon ( can't remember the name of it.) Both were very good. I especially liked the sauce-- good spices and flavor. The garlic fries were super yummy. My hubby subbed a salad for his fries. So nice with cucumbers, garbanzo beans, tomatoes, and crispy lettuce mix. The salad dressing was really fresh, probably homemade. The only suggestion I might give them would be to add a bit of salt to the patty before cooking it. All in all, I give Sideshow 4 stars. I love little gem places in Oakland that remind me of why I moved here in the first place. Sideshow does an amazing job of anything they serve. My favorites are the chicken sandwiches and burgers. For the burgers, the patties are juicy and flavorful, seasoned just right and always packed onto a very complimentary set of buns. This is definitely a step above the average utility burgers which are good and abundant in the bay area but don't exactly stand out. Sideshow throws it together the right way, and I was already thinking about the next time I was going to go back for one. The Chicken sandwich I had was put together differently than most places... kind of like strips on a bun with the usual accompaniment of lettuce, tomato etc. But their chicken coating seasonings and the tenderness were just pure magic. In a city full of chicken of many varieties, it definitely earns its place among the top options in the city. The highlights were the hyphy chicken sandwich although advertised as spicy, we found it more of a "spices" vs " spicy" sandwich. Yum! I took my little here before we went out for the day. It's fully outdoor seating and spacious, so sitting right next to a party of people you don't know isn't an option. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves when we went, and the food came out pretty quickly. It was delicious and filling. I think I'm learning that it's hard to mess up chicken sandwiches - I cook, but I don't make these at home and have never attempted. The bun was nice and buttery, the chicken was crispy without an overload of breading, and the garlic fries were garlicky goodness. I came on a Saturday, and finding parking was easy for me in the later afternoon. The time of day we got here was nice because there were still some sunny spots. We ordered the Good Burger ($10.00), which includes the Good Burger sauce, SS Aioli, Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, & Onions! The burger was so juicy and filled with all sorts of wonderful flavors. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a bomb ass burger, however, the meat patties lacked some flavor. Good to know that this is an option though, since some joints don't make a good burger option for us veggie folks. Fries were delicious!! There's a seasoning on the fries that we loved and couldn't stop eating! Our friends got the chili fries with cheese on the side and they didn't enjoy it too much - then again, they got the cheese on the side so unsure if this was the reason but they were underwhelmed. I'm always down for a deliciously juicy burger, and Sideshow Kitchen knows how to do it right. While you won't actually find any sideshows going on here, what you will find are tasty burgers and a really chill environment. I had been meaning to try this place for the longest and finally got around to stopping by for lunch. This spot is located in the most random area of town! I almost passed it on the way there. Look out for the signage because it can be easily missed. Street parking only there was a lot of parking when I stopped by. The interior is quite small but they make up for it with their beer garden! Yes, they have a beer garden! SCORE! It's super cute too. Lots of communal style tables and heat lamps! Most of their patio is covered but they have a few spaces that aren't. When the weather is nice, this place would be the perfect spot to just chill out and have a beer in the garden. The music selection was nice too and they project it onto the patio. I didn't try any of their beers since I was at work, but that tap list was on point. Speaking of being on point; how about they delicious burger though?! Yep! It tasted pretty dang marvelous if you ask me. Ordered their food burger with garlic fries and the burger was real good. Juicy meat, melted cheese, fresh veggies... all of that food stuff. Plus, the burger patty was seasoned well which I always adore. Nothing too extraordinary about it, but it was a great rendition of a classic style burger. The only thing that I wasn't too impressed with were their garlic fries. FYI: their "garlic fries" are just waffle fries with minced garlic and garlic powder on them. Had I known that they were going to be waffle fries, I would have just ordered them plain. Waffle fries and garlic just don't mix well in my opinion.
