Love this place! The burgers, fries, drinks, and chicken sandwich are all wonderful. I've eaten in twice and to go once. The food was consistently good quality, hot, ample portion sizes, and is made to order. It takes maybe about a 10 min wait to have your food made but definitely worth the wait. If you are rushing and want your food a little sooner call it in. The first and second time eating in I had the sideshow burger with cheese and fries with that cheese sauce. Both times they were very good however skimpy portion on the fries. A bit disappointed. The next time I ordered from them I ordered a chicken sandwich with regular Fries and got a ton of them... so not really sure how that works. Honestly one of the best burgers I had in east bay. The quality of the meat, the caramelization of the onions, the the attention of details this burger was great! The store provides an excellent ambiance of oakland's car scene with murals paying homage to the bay area culture. Staff provide a comfortable chill experience and asking for recommendations are always on the table. The food was served quickly and the upgraded garlic fries were unique because of the way they were able to melt American cheese perfectly. It was the same with my burger giving me a cheese pull on every other bite. My friend had the hyphy chicken and got full which was surprising because we usually eat ayce. The burger did not skip out on the meat sizing and felt like an original in n out burger. I got the sideshow burger, fries, and the strawberry milkshake. The burger was ok, but I think that the patty could've need a bit more salt. The sauce and toppings were good. The fries were ok too, and if you're a big fan of strawberry milkshakes, then they make a decent one here. The items that I got in my opinion are pretty average, and a bit on the pricey side for the portions you get. To be fair I did get the items to go and ate it at home, so that may have skewed my score, perhaps it would've been better super fresh if I had it there. So I chose to order online , ordered wings we liked the bbq and teriyaki , lemon pepper was cool , the Parmesan wings were flavorful but I would maybe ask for extra parm depending on preferences. The fries were fire, there is however one slight pet peeve that people who don't like fees and things. If you order online the tip is standardized and at moment of order. After reflecting i didn't find it too much of an inconvenience because the food is good, but others might not per se find a tip as an entitlement, rather a token of appreciation. The food here has always been incredible. I get the veggie burger, and it's always perfectly cooked, the fries are crispy, and the homemade sauces are worth adding on. I tried the churros once, and while they were good, I was wishing for some ice cream to dip them in. I mentioned it, and they say they're adding a soft serve machine (though it's backordered now). The chicken sandwich was so good. By the time I got home the presentation looked sloppy but that's how I knew it was going to be good. They stuff your sandwich with two thighs, aioli, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and cheese. The bun is so good too. The fries are seasoned and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. So tender and juicy and really flavorful! The bun is soft and holds the sandwich well. The burger was pretty good, it was hefty and messy, the way a burger should be. To me it could have used a bit more seasoning on the patties. The fries were also pretty good, I probably prefer the plain over the garlic fries. The staff was really nice and the wait for the food wasn't too long. They have outdoor dining but we decided to take ours home. Yum! I took my little here before we went out for the day. It's fully outdoor seating and spacious, so sitting right next to a party of people you don't know isn't an option. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves when we went, and the food came out pretty quickly. It was delicious and filling. I think I'm learning that it's hard to mess up chicken sandwiches - I cook, but I don't make these at home and have never attempted. The bun was nice and buttery, the chicken was crispy without an overload of breading, and the garlic fries were garlicky goodness. I came on a Saturday, and finding parking was easy for me in the later afternoon. The time of day we got here was nice because there were still some sunny spots. I do wonder if they'll add outdoor heaters for the winter, or if they'll make orders to go only. Either way, I'd recommend this spot. read more

Mike, the founder and owner of Sideshow, personally coordinated and delivered our order. Communication flowed quickly and clearly. I was very happy to receive his timely delivery -- not too early to cause the food to get cold before serving and not too late to make me nervous. It's a delicate balance. The lemonades were beautiful (yellow, blue, and light orange) and festive. They tasted great, not too sweet, and added a playfulness to our event. Nice touch. The secret sauce for the french fries was extra delicious. It's a must. I am impressed that Mike is involved in every aspect of his business. I appreciate his culinary mastery and excellent service. The fried chicken is a nice large piece, served in half. This made the sandwich huge for a one bite person. I found the spicy cole slaw not that spicy. But it was indeed a good sandwich. The crinkle cut fries were excellent. It tasted like Jack in the box seasoned curly fries. Just as I hope to expect from my last time I came here years ago. The garlic fries were super yummy. My hubby subbed a salad for his fries. So nice with cucumbers, garbanzo beans, tomatoes, and crispy lettuce mix. The salad dressing was really fresh, probably homemade. The only suggestion I might give them would be to add a bit of salt to the patty before cooking it. All in all, I give Sideshow 4 stars. An awesome spot for some absolutely killer food. The burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries are next level. The highlights were the hyphy chicken sandwich although advertised as spicy, we found it more of a "spices" vs " spicy" sandwich. The grilled jalapeños add a very nice flavor and the slaw and sauce make for a perfect accompaniment to the crispy chicken.
