    Half salad
    Alan D.

We really wanted to like this place based on the reviews but alas, I feel honestly is the best policy. Let's start with what went well. The inside is clean, nicely laid out, good decor and no problem with sound (ie, it wasn't very loud even when it was pretty full.) The service was terrific; our waitress was super kind, helpful, kept our drinks full and checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything. 5 stars for service and facilities. Where the experience fell short was in the food. Overall, most everything we ordered was "meh" at best. I'll be more specific. Pizza- yes it was one topping, but even it didn't taste good. The crust was flabby, pasty; not at all crisp. The sauce was flavorless and the overall experience was less than that of a frozen pizza. Chicken fried chicken- this was actually pretty good. I did enjoy this. I chose the sides of fried okra which were very good, coleslaw which I enjoyed , and Mac n cheese. I'll talk more about that in a min. Served with actually cold ( not even room temperature) cornbread which probably would have been good if was anything but straight from the refrigerator and microwaved to warm the outer edge leaving a chilled center. Three of us ordered the Mac N Cheese. I don't know how to mess it up like this, but the cheese sauce was runny, and flavorless. No one liked it and we do not recommend it. The fries with the kids menu were good. The pulled pork was full of gristle and dry, we didn't eat most of it. The green beans tasted straight from a can without any other seasonings. We couldn't eat them. The salad was nice, decent size and fresh so that was a positive. Everything about this restaurant is full of potential and with a little care in the kitchen it wouldn't take much to make this a top spot to eat; but as it is, the food is 2 stars at best. We'll settle on 3 stars overall given how good the service was.

    Cajun Gumbo was flavorful

It's a hit or miss on the food and service for us. Still nice to have this option in our town. Probably wouldn't return though.

Food is good but service is hit or miss. And if you go there for brunch they don't serve liquor until noon.

My mother in law had wanted to sit inside at a booth but for some reason they said they weren't seating that area. Maybe they didn't have a server for that section, but idk. I was happy to be outside tho. It was a really nice day so i was glad to be able to enjoy it. You do have to deal with the occasional revving of engines while people show off as they head to Walmart but nothing anyone can do about that. I ordered the French dip and sweet potato fries. My mother in law got fried shrimp with green beans and coleslaw. The French dip did not come with au jus. I didn't pay attention to the menu so idk if it just doesn't come with it or they forgot it. The server didn't come back until we were almost done so I didn't see a point in asking about it by then. The sandwich was very good, the au jus would have made it exceptional. The sweet potato fries were very good too. I usually try to stay away from fried foods and it was hard for me to stop eating these. My mother in law commented that the green beans were delicious and didn't seem to be from a can. She liked the shrimp too. Unfortunately her cocktail sauce was frozen solid. She was able to get some hot sauce tho so she made due with that. Aside from a few hiccups this place was good and I'd definitely try food from here again. Service was ok. I wish our server would have checked on us a little after we got our food so we could have asked about the au jus and cocktail sauce. It wasn't busy at all so I'm not sure why the service was so meh.

So thanks to the recognition of them and the ranch was tasty as well. Hamburgers were the best in Ashland, that I have tried. Thanks, and I will definitely be there again. I didn't give 5 stars only cause I think the hamburger needed a little more of a touch, but they are good, and my family would eat them again if I wasn't going to be the cook! Stopped in on a Sunday evening and was really thrilled to find that this place is...basically a clean, friendly "dive" bar. Proper (lowish) lighting, pool tables, friendly barstaff, a stage for live music, a clean restroom. Standard/fair prices. The bar menu looks really good too, but I was too full from a late lunch to sample it (but will next time). Hope to stop in for a few games of pool with a friend in the near future.

Our friends told us they wanted to go to the grand…read moreopening, asked us if we wanted to go, and of course, we said yes, and now here I am with my experience that started on May 22 at 1:03pm. When we walked in, we were sat immediately and handed menus. The restaurant looked a mess. Like the lunch rush just left. You could tell they were busy, but now most customers have gone and dirty tables everywhere and we have no idea who our server is yet. The young woman who greeted us and gave us menus came back to get our drink orders. I wanted a glass of iced water. I don't mind bottled water, but not having any ice for drinks in the summertime is ridiculous. The manager should've stepped up and either sent someone or they themselves could've drove to a store and bought some. So right from the start, they're giving us the excuse of being busy and ran out of ice. Okay, well it wasn't busy anymore and you're just going to serve bottled drinks because no ice? Ugh, okay. We ordered the fried pickled okra and our friends ordered the gator tail bites for appetizers. The info on my pic stated 1:44pm. So we've been sitting here for 40 minutes and somewhere between 1:03 and 1:30 we finally get to meet our server. I understand needing a break after a mad rush, but first impressions are everything and so far, not impressed with service. But high five to the hostess! And the appetizers were both hot and delicious. We were bummed until we got our appetizers. Next our food comes. I was the only one who didn't order gumbo(thank goodness) and got the catfish po boy. I'm not trying to bash this business, but sometimes the truth hurts. That was the worst gumbo they(my table) have ever had! If you look at the photos I took, it looks like they added water to it or something. At least that's what they all said. And if they make their own roux, you couldn't tell. My beautiful po boy was extra salty and if you're going to serve it with big chunks of lettuce, at least make sure you cut the bad parts off. Look at my pics and look at the lettuce. The inside decorations were cute and reminds you of NOLA. I was tempted to order the beignets but after what we were served, didn't want to lose any more money. It was a huge let down. Hopefully they'll get it together and be consistent. Maybe they're new to running a restaurant and figuring things out as they go? I don't know but all I can say is good luck.

When I arrived Britt got me a table and something to drink while I looked over the menu. There's a decent selection standard Cajun appetizers, meals, and sandwiches and I decided to try their Tour of NOLA. This consisted of a small bowl of Gumbo Ya Ya (chicken and andouille sausage), The Gulf (shrimp & crabmeat), and Queen of Rice (red beans & rice with andouille sausage). All three were quite good, a nice bit of kick, but each of them were very flavorful and not overpowered by heat. My favorite was The Gulf...nice spice and loved the seafood flavors. Enjoyed the Red Beans and Rice built on a solid roux, great flavors, and tender beans. This is a nice way to sample a number of dishes and the meal was filling. They have only been open 10 days, but the food and service shined and everyone took great care of me. I met the owners Lynn Cathey & Sammy Naquin...great folks and they are excited about their new business. I'll be back the next time I'm passing through...the Muffuletta sounds delicious!
