Public House is a very good restaurant in Springfield! I stopped in for dinner on a Friday night and had a great visit. They were busy and service was a little slow at first but once we got our order in things were much smoother. For drinks I ordered a glass of wine (they had a good selection) and my BF had a margarita. We started with the cheese board and it was a large portion and very good with a variety of cheeses, dried fruit and olives. It was so much food we took it to go! I had the Springfield hot chicken salad and also the pimento bacon flatbread. The salad was good with a sweet and spicy sauce and the flatbread was tasty. I probably wouldn't get the salad again but it was good to try and it was a lighter option. The bar and vibe was great and I'll definitely check them out again when I'm back in Springfield! read more

Decided to try this instead of our usual Go To restaurant. Immediately upon entry, a pleasant looking place, and was greeted promptly for seating. Menu: from the choices it looked promising. Service: Waitress was prompt, and took drink orders. Once she returned, she took our food order. AND this where it went down hill. After 25 minutes, our salad was delivered at the same time as our entree order. Also no drink refills. For salads we had. I had the bacon dressing on my salad, wife had the lemon dressing on hers. We both agreed both were good. The salad- she liked and I disliked. (it consisted of spinach leaves and arugula) For entrees - Against my better judgement after reading the description ( (but I had hopes). I ordered the fish and chips. Mistake! It came as described, hand breaded, pan seared. However, when you tried to eat it, the breading completely came off, and fish was overcooked. The chips were French fries that were hard, overcooked also. Wife's entree- Shrimp and Grits.Description said butterflied shrimp and stuffed crab cakes. Reality:- rubbery shrimp with no seasoning. The stuffed crab cakes consisted of a balled up ball with way more breading than crab. Both of us said the same thing, No flavor. Finished the meal and still no refill on drinks. They were not busy. Paid our bill, and both agreed- Disappointed. Should of went to our usual place a block down the street. There was nothing spectacular about this visit. read more

I wasn't sure what the place was from the outside and then I saw the menu. I went in and there were lots of people and I had French onion soup and then I had a salad to go. Very good food!!The service was fabulous. The waitress even put the woman's gold medal hockey game on so I could watch it cause I was asking her about it. I'm definitely gonna be going back. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks and order in after being seated and 30 minutes to get our food after ordering, we ordered 4 burgers. Restaurant was about half full. Saw multiple tables that came in well after us get their food well before us. Staff barely visited the tables regardless, maybe if we sat at the bar we would have gotten better service. Burger was okay, fries were cold and hard. Visited when they were at the other location and did not have a very good experience then, disappointed to see nothing has changed. Not impressed, I hope others have a better experience than we did. read more

Springfield doesn't have that many options for restaurants but I'm glad that we have this one. The service is good, the dining room has a good hometown vibe and the food is delicious. My wife and I love their Nachos! Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! read more

We were excited to come to check it out but were a bit disappointed in the entrees. The chicken seemed like it had been microwaved post cooking, and the fries were very rubbery. What a wonderful experience! This place is so quaint and cute, love the ambience. Stephanie the bartender/waitress was so attentive and one of the kindest people I've ever met! She was able to accommodate our large party for my best friends birthday! And the food is delicious and not to mention the drinks! Stephanie makes some mean drinks so delicious! Mashed potatoes were chunky and well done. My husband had the veggie burger and pub fries. Pub fries were crispy and hot. He enjoyed the veggie burger. We also had pimento cheese and herb toast for an appetizer. I generally prefer my pimento cheese appetizers warm and creamy, but this was served chilled, and still had good seasoning. Drink menu small, a lot of bourbon/whiskey. I had a French 75 that was pretty good. They had various sandwich and pub fare, shepherds pie, as well as salmon, chicken, and pork dishes. Unfortunately, this is the most inconsistent place I've ever eaten at that's been around as long as they have. After moving to their new place, not having enough people to work there it's very sad. And I won't be going back for a while. Food is inconsistent but the place is clean. The servers are overstressed and on his friendly as they could be, but it's understandable. They don't have enough help. You're gonna have to give it a 2 1/2 star. Maybe try again in another year. read more

I also ordered the pretzel sticks, they were also way overcooked, pretzel sticks are not supposed to be hard and tough, and waaaayyyy too much salt. They also did not include the malt vinegar as indicated in the menu. That made the fish even more difficult to eat. I couldn't finish even though I was still hungry. This spot is supper sweet inside. It's small, full or character, the best bartender and wait staff in town, and has delicious options on the menu. I ate here two nights out of three while in town on business and here are my reviews (sorry, I forgot taco pics). Pimento was better than the spinach (it was just a little runny for what I'm used to); but, grilled pita was better than the bread. So- take your pick. French onion- perfect for cold weather. Grilled Cesar with salmon = bam bam shrimp tacos. I can't judge with was better. Tacos aren't on the menu. They switch up every Tuesday. But this week's were great! Stopped here after a crazy storm and this was everything I needed. The space is a little small but it has the perfect homey feeling to it. As we waited for our food we noticed the owner saying hi to tons of people and all on first name basis. I love that small town feel it had. The food was superb! Our meals started with a house salad and I tried their warm bacon vinaigrette dressing...I am still having dreams about it! The salt from the bacon and the feta cheese was perfect paired with the tang from the dried cranberries and vinegar. I had the Shepard's pie and my husband had the fish and chips. The pie was perfect! The fresh herbs on top were the perfect touch. It came out steaming hot and the first bite just melted in my mouth. I loved all of the different spices that were used in this dish. My husband had the fish and chips and it was delicious. The fish was cooked just right. It fell apart at the touch and I loved that they didn't put too much batter on it. It was well seasoned and even crisped up in the air fryer the next day. Came in here because The depot was very full. They had a few tables that were reserved so I went to the bar open seating. I ordered the local cheese plate as an starter. The cheeses were very good and they went well with the jams provided. As a main I got the "You Brat it up" My only complaint with this one was that they put a bit much caramelised onions on it. Grabbed a bite here after a yoga class. What an all around great place! Fast friendly service, welcoming atmosphere = overall great local spot. Everyone at the table ordered a lavender bourbon. Met a coworker here for dinner after work one afternoon. Happy medium for us and we were hungry. Location is small and parking is not ideal. Staff was super friendly we started with pork belly. It was delicious and paired perfectly with a sauce. Wasn't thoroughly impressed with drink selection. I had a pineapple rum drink that ended up like a orange juice cocktail or sorts. Tiny pub located in historic downtown Springfield right by Main St and a little side street. The interior is reminiscent of a Greek restaurant with lots of white and blue accent, or perhaps a beachside bar. Not sure the vibes they are going for exactly. We were meeting a friend and sat at the bar. It was $5 burger night so of course that was what we all ordered along with some cold beers on draft.
