INGLEWOOD, NASHVILLE - When we talk about America used to be a proper country, that's another way…read moreof saying 'there used to be more places like Roy's Tavern.' It's not some generic brewpub. It's a bar. It's got a pool table and old, slightly beat up tile floor and it's kind of dark and there are a few TVs. This is what we need more of. Great vibe. Went on a Monday after work. Tons of avaible seating. Clean. Staff was attentive and prompt. No annoying classic rock you've heard a billion times on the jukebox - think Early James and Broncho. Beer selection: Decent, but not massive. A few local beers on draft or packaged. Food: Damn if that's not one of the best thin-crust pizzas I've ever enjoyed. A nice crunch but not Saltine cracker thin. Any pizza - $18-$26 - is easily a meal for 2-3. I had the Tavern Style, not knowing half of one would be more than enough, and was wowed. A nice spicy zest from the peppers went well with the saltiness of the sausage. Took a bunch of pizza with me to go. My Uber driver taking me from the Opryland Gaylord was telling me he never takes out-of-towners to Roy's, they all want to go to Broadway downtown to the tourist area, that Roy's is a quintessential fave of locals. So I got that thrill one gets of going into an ethnic restaurant and being the only white person there. In short, if I lived in Nashville, Roy's'd be my jam. As a brief visitor, best I can do is recommend this wholeheartedly.

I didn't realize those options would be frozen & microwaved, at least that's what it tasted like. The broccoli had absolutely zero seasoning & came out mushy & lifeless. The cauliflower "wings" were all broken, tiny pieces that were dark brown & overly fried. I wasn't expecting much, but charging $20 for frozen food dumped into a fryer & also microwaved is a less than desirable to me. My companion's burger came with no condiments & although our sever said the fries were fresh, they were really greasy & soggy. It was all disappointing to say the least. I get why people like this place. If you drink, it looks fun, affordable, & you probably don't care what the food's like. The bar was full for 1 pm on a Wednesday. If that's your gig, I'd say it's the place to go. If you're looking for fresh food, I'd say keep on walking.

There are multiple TVs and large screens throughout the bar, making it a perfect place to watch sports. I just wish they had a larger selection of draft beers, including fruit beers or ciders.

After that was no good a couple times, I ordered a side salad to-go and that wasn't good either. Lettuce tasted bitter and was a bit brown. So I took a break for about a year and decided to dine in recently again. My experience dining in was much more enjoyable and the food was much better. My server was so polite, understanding, and personable! I was very impressed given my bad experiences in the past. I recommend the chicken sandwich, steak biscuits, and even the side salad that had disappointed me before. I will say the sweet tea seemed really watered down, but the soda was good. They had music playing and TVs with every sport you could imagine, and the atmosphere was very pleasant and comfortable. Seems like a good place now, not sure if it was just the take-out or if they have changed up their ingredients. Either way, it's a nice little local spot.

The restaurant was not busy whatsoever. I had ordered a wine from the hostess and asked for a water and still was refused one. Have no clue what their attitude was about but I won't be returning. Can't give a consensus on the food unfortunately as I wasn't going to wait another 40 minutes without water or even being greeted nor even asked what I'd like to order. Avoid this place if you don't want to be treated like you have leprosy.
