Chicago is one of my favorite cities in the world, so I knew I would eventually find my way into Staleys to get a little piece of Chicago! The space is open and spacious with most of the area being reserved for seating. There is a small corner that features digital menu boards and the counter for ordering. After reviewing the menu, I landed on the Midway Monster, which is your classic meatball sub drenched in marinara and mozzarella with the tasty addition of sliced pepperoni. The meatballs are good sized, cut in half to fill the bread. The marinara is poured over the meat(s) then the cheese is laid on top and gets all melty. The bread is soft however the ends got a bit tough. I sided it with fries and while the fries are your standard crinkle cut, they were cooked well and crispy. Sandwich was $12.99 plus $4.99 to make it a combo which includes fries and a drink. Service was super friendly. The counter associate was wildly friendly and helpful. While I did not interact with the kitchen staff or food runners, I saw their interactions with others and they were equally friendly and helpful. Overall, solid 4 stars for Staleys. Sandwich was good, nothing mind-blowing and while it was tasty and filling, $20 for a meatball sub combo is a bit much...but again, happy to have it in the neighborhood and would treat myself to a sammich again!
