Came in at 10:30pm and ordered the Chopped cheese Sammy and hot wings. Very good I just wished I knew the Sammy was super caliente! Also ordered the wings.. I recommend both if u like spicy! The girl bartender never gave us eye but instead side eyes but no acknowledgement nor welcome as we first walked in, I'm a newby here. But the male bartender was super sweet so he made up for her. From solo, small group, to big group theres a spot for you. Theres darts, pool, and TVs with closed captions everywhere. Good drinks, and I've heard the food is bomb but I havent actually had it yet! Roy's Tavern is a fairly new "sports bar" that sits in the old home of Henry James on Gallatin in Inglewood. While we are still mourning Henry James being no more, we decided to give Roy's Tavern a try, and we are glad we did. The essence of what we loved about Henry James is still there, but now with more TV's . We went during the off season for most major sports, so it was random racing, tennis and a few other things being shown around and behind the bar. We ordered a cocktail/beer and a few things to munch on. One of us got the Lemon Pepper wings and the other the short rib totchos. The wings were solid, but the totchos were impressive and tasty! Pricing was pretty decent with the totchos costing $14 and the wings $12, while the drinks were around $10. Only real gripe is it is all counter service, no table service. The bar gets packed and the line gets to be a bit much, which dissuaded us from ordering a second round of cocktails. I'm sure there is a good reason, but not a fan. Parking can be tricky here as the lot in back can get full quick, and when that happens, be careful. If that lot is full, then head across Gallatin and grab a spot along the roads. Overall, Roy's Tavern is a good spot. While we miss HJ, we welcome Roy's to the neighborhood. read more

It was my 1st time here and what a hidden gem in East Nashville. It was a great night to get out of the snow covered roads to play darts, eat chicken wings and a round of pool. It's a bar. It's got a pool table and old, slightly beat up tile floor and it's kind of dark and there are a few TVs. This is what we need more of. Great vibe. Went on a Monday after work. Tons of avaible seating. Clean. Staff was attentive and prompt.No annoying classic rock you've heard a billion times on the jukebox - think Early James and Broncho. Beer selection: Decent, but not massive. A few local beers on draft or packaged. Food: Damn if that's not one of the best thin-crust pizzas I've ever enjoyed. A nice crunch but not Saltine cracker thin. Any pizza - $18-$26 - is easily a meal for 2-3. I had the Tavern Style, not knowing half of one would be more than enough, and was wowed. A nice spicy zest from the peppers went well with the saltiness of the sausage. Took a bunch of pizza with me to go. My Uber driver taking me from the Opryland Gaylord was telling me he never takes out-of-towners to Roy's, they all want to go to Broadway downtown to the tourist area, that Roy's is a quintessential fave of locals. So I got that thrill one gets of going into an ethnic restaurant and being the only white person there. In short, if I lived in Nashville, Roy's'd be my jam. As a brief visitor, best I can do is recommend this wholeheartedly. read more

I've been wanting to try Roy's since it was announced they were opening and it was a blast! A sports bar with a local, retro feel, this bar is the perfect vibe for the Nashville native on weekends looking to catch the local game. I came on a Saturday night with a couple of friends to watch a college basketball game and they have ample TVs and seating for those who want to cheer on their team. For those who want to socialize they have a spacious outdoor section along with darts and pool tables inside. I think the only thing that doesn't give this a 5-star review is the service. It's a relatively crowded bar on a Saturday, so all the patrons including myself understand that service can be hit or miss. But the service that night left much to be desired. There's no real system or way to get the bartenders attention. If you want a drink or order anything, you just have to wait until they decide they want to give you attention. Could have been an off night, could be growing pains, either way it's not a deterrent and I'll be back again! I had a couple of beers and split a tavern pizza with my friends. The price for the food and drinks is definitely reasonable and they have their own parking lot so that's a win anywhere in Nashville. Great neighborhood bar. Staff are friendly and attentive. Great service. The menu is short, but has something for everyone and everything we tried we loved. We enjoyed the green goddess chopped salad and the smash burger. Asked for grilled onions and they didn't blink an eye and yes they were delicious. The absolutely hands-down best item we ate was the pizza. The pie was crispy with just the right amount of cheese and tomato. Yum! I cannot express how much I love this bar. If there were a frequent flyer program, I'd be in it, if there were pictures on the walls of regulars, I'd be on it. Staff is all amazing, the vibe is the perfect combination of cool and classy. With a little bit of sports bar thrown in. Favorite place to watch a game. Did I mention the staff is amazing? Roy's is my go-to first date spot because I always feel so so safe and like they have my back. Even as Roy's has gotten busier, they've stayed affordable. The drinks are always good. The cherry margarita is delicious. Plenty of TVs to watch sporting events. Love the two pool tables and dartboard so there never feels like a long wait. My ONE ding. More of a request. The food is absolutely amazing. Elevated bar food. Some of the best pizza in town. Unfortunately, there have been too many times where I wanted to and was planning on stopping by Roy's for dinner, but knew there was nothing on the menu that was on the lighter side or morehealth-conscious. I know from cooking at home that healthier ingredients are more expensive. Coming from being a fan of when the bar was Henry James, I'm glad to see the energy of this place being a lot stronger. I wasn't hoping it was because of the location but also I think the antique looking bar sign helps promote "hey, we're a bar and we're here" Solid beer and full bar selection. Their menu is great quality stuff. Their smashburgers are decadent so if you need to chase your drinks, you have a few options to do so with, even pizza and a couple other sammies. I will give three stars because I like the atmosphere and it is very close to where I live. The reason why I'm not giving it five is because my last visit there I had a few drinks with a girlfriend and I was probably there inside an hour and was playing pool having a few drinks in fact a beer, an old fashion which I ordered for a friend as well along with 2 shots of woodford reserve. I asked for the tab, paid the tab and included a tip. I was confronted by a girl named Kaitlyn, who is a waiter there or partial owner "I don't know" but asked me how the service was and I told her it was fine, but then she said if the service was fine why did you give a small tip? For starters, I didn't get an itemized list of what I was charged for and for only having about maybe four or five drinks and the tab being over $100, that blew me away and then asked why I tipped what I tipped after the fact, rubbed me the wrong way, That was rude. I spend what I spend and I give what I give. The last time someone asked me that question was at Jonathan's in Germantown in that fashion was fired because I wasn't the first person he drilled down on demanding a tip. When I can afford to be generous and go above and beyond but when I can't, I give what I can. And I shouldn't have to explain myself, but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I've been a handful of times since they opened. It's fine. Had a mix of friendly/not friendly bartenders in the beginning and now they're mostly unfriendly and inattentive. Spent $70 with tip on four beers and a school pizza caliber cracker (not good tavern) pizza tonight. The menu has no prices on the beers. WTF? A Sierra Nevada draft is $10? No idea. Much better food/drinks (friendlier bartenders & published prices) in the neighborhood. Bunch of dudes who thought Limp Bizkit was cool twenty/thirty-ish something years ago hanging around. Went in for a pizza with some friends. Had to order at the bar. Got our own waters at the water station while the bartender made a margarita and poured a coke. I brought the drinks and the waters and the pizza number to our table. Food we ordered all showed up at different times without a word. I went back to the bar to get silverware. No one ever came back to check on anything. I definitely got the vibe that no one who worked there could have cared less if we were there or not. Then when I went to the bar to pay, the suggested tip percentages were 20%, 25%, and 30%. It's a shame. It's a cool looking place with a cheers style square bar and great booths. The pizza was ok. Tavern style with a crispy crust that was a little burned. My Girlfriend had a $12 Chicken sandwich that didn't come with so much as a potato chip. Meh. read more

Pizza is absolutely delicious! The crust is a cracker crust that is crispy and was PERFECT. I absolutely loved it. The staff is super nice and attentive, even when it's busy. This place is also new, so anyone who has left a bad review probably just caught them when it was super new and probably doesn't give people much of a break. The one person who left a bad review has left terrible reviews for long standing local establishments (all small businesses who are much more heavily effected by a Karen's review than a larger establishment) and seems like they are just extremely hard to satisfy.
