Bringles Smoking Oasis is located across Jenni's Ice Cream with its own parking lot and also some street parking available. This past Saturday afternoon, my husband and I were initially planning on having 51st St Deli for lunch, with our dog. But since the car in front of us grabbed the last parking spot in the lot right out front of the restaurant, we just drove forward, thinking we would park on the street and walk back. But then we saw Bringles Smoking Oasis and decided to come here for lunch instead. Their outdoor patio is dog friendly so we just grabbed a seat there. Out here, there is a bar in which you can order your alcohol and watch one of the two incredibly large screens (at the time, there was 2 different basketball games on). Inside the restaurant you can order your barbecue (there is also indoor seating as well). My husband went inside to order while my little girl and I sat in the covered outdoor seating area. He ended up ordering: 1/2 lb Pulled Pork, $6.79 prior to tax- Tennessee is known for their pulled pork (especially in Memphis), so we decided to order it. I am going to be honest and mention that I personally have not liked pulled pork at any barbecue places that I have had all over the US because it is usually dry and bland. But the pulled pork was good here, juicy and tender. Was not bland at all, actually a little on the saltier side for me. But I think for the average person, they may not think it is salty (I typically don't eat food items that are really heavily seasoned). The amount my husband got was good for the two of us (and our little girl had a tiny bit). 1/2 lb Brisket, $12.30 prior to tax- Very tender and juicy, also delicious too. And again, the amount my husband picked for the two of us was plenty. Macaroni & Cheese, $3 for single side- I liked the macaroni and cheese but my husband didn't like it as much. There is this flavor added to it that I can't quite put my finger on to describe the taste, but it is different from other mac & cheese sides that I have had before. It didn't have as strong of a cheesy flavor. Turnip Greens, $3 for single side- The vegetables were very soft and think that is pretty common for vegetables to be overcooked at barbecue places. I thought the flavor was fine though. Potato Salad, $3 for single side- The potato salad tasted standard but was good. Pickles & Onions- Complimentary. Thought both were rather very sour. --------------------------------- (Total= $30.70 after tax) Meat is sold by the half pound. There are no meat platters with sides plate to order. For the most part, everything is sold a la cart. When we arrived this past Saturday, around 3:45 pm, it was definitely packed with huge Alabama basketball fans (since they were playing... and won). We got the last table. After you are done eating (if you eat outside like us), you just have to put away your own tray and trash in one of the trash areas. This meat rules! Moving here from Texas I have a very specific craving for heavily dry rubbed and slow smoked meats, Bringles does not disappoint. The Pastrami is strong and flavorful and the Brisket is Smokey, juicy and so savory. I love it and no longer miss Kreuz. The restaurant makes great use of otherwise hard to develop land with great outdoor space with a bar included. The two things that make this a 4 star are the following: Their customer service/engagement sucks. They expect you to know what to order without offering suggestions and if you ask a question they act as if you are so annoying. On our visit on 5/8 - the guy serving was playing on his phone and we had to get his attention to even ask questions. The second thing is their ordering signs are not helpful. Everyone enjoyed their food and we loved the spacious patio which had lots of picnic tables, lots of televisions, and a full bar. I had a great lunch here. The food was good, the staff were friendly and helpful, and there is lots of seating both indoors and outside, with TVs strategically located. Bringles Smoking Oasis is brought to you by the owner of the famous Peg Leg Porker in The Gulch. At Bringles, however, they opt for more of Texas style BBQ. There's nothing wrong with that, but it does result in some flavors that are different from what you might expect in Tennessee (I'm looking at you, Memphis!). You order at the counter with a Texas-style meat market experience. Meats are sold by the quarter pound, and you can mix and match however you like. You can also add side dishes along the way, along with some desserts. I opted for the Beef Brisket and the Pulled Pork, along with Cowboy Beans and Potato Salad. As I watched them cut the Beef Brisket I could see the juices running out, along with the smoke ring, so I was optimistic. The meat wasn't quite as moist or flavorful as I was expecting, but it was still very good. The Pulled Pork was fantastic. I'm one of those guys who tends to drown his pulled pork in sauce (sorry, Texas!), but at Bringles this wasn't necessary at all. The pork was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Very well executed. The Potato Salad was nice with chunks of potato, a creamy texture, and good flavor. The Cowboy Beans have a flavor profile that is closer to chili than what you would normally get in the way of baked beans at a BBQ joint, but the flavor was very good. Not my personal preference in terms of flavor profile, but still very good. Speaking of Texas flavor, the BBQ sauce is available in Texas Mild or Texas Spicy. Both are good, but neither provides the sweetness of a typical Memphis style sauce for pulled pork. Very good, just not what you would normally expect around here. I'm most certainly be back. I still prefer Peg Leg Porker over Bringle's Smoking Oasis, but that's really only because of my own flavor preferences. They do a great job at Bringle's, and the friendly staff greatly added to the experience. read more

I enjoyed Peg Leg Porker's and unlike most movies this sequel is just as amazing as the original! Everything is cafeteria style so you can see what you're ordering before you get it and you pay the pound for meats so you can try as much or as little (or none) of each item as you want. The lean brisket, ribs, and smoked turkey were all as good as I've tried anywhere. The ribs had that perfect match between being tender but not too tender and everything had the smoky flavor you want in BBQ. Sides were excellent as well, I really enjoyed the cucumber salad and cowboy beans. I needed a salad too after a few days without one and found one here. The tea is spot on too. Service is very friendly and since it's cafeteria style it's easy to get seconds if you're still hungry, though portions are large so you might not need to. It was rainy when we went so we sat inside but they also have a lot of outside seating and as outside bar for when the weather's good. This isn't near Broadway or the tourist part of Nashville so you'll probably need to drive or Uber. I don't think there's a parking lot but there seems to be a little street parking. Outside patio area is great, good vibes and dog friendly. Younger 20-30 something crowd mostly watching NCAA tourney on 2 ginormous TV screens. Outside bar is understaffed, but very friendly staff and great selection craft draft beers. My total bill for brisket plus 2 sides and 3 beers was around $55 with tax + tip. Pricey but worth it. All meats and sides were served, and food was approximately 2hrs old, when it was finally served. Sides, cold and fresh, and all meats were double wrapped (Saran and Foil), and still warm. I enjoy having Peg Leg cater my customer meetings. But never had Bringles. Hands down, some of, if not the best BBQ. Ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, were all 10/10. They have a great selection of barbecue, including an amazing jalapeño sausage link and smoked pastrami, which is a rare find in the barbecue scene in Nashville. They have daily drink specials in a massive outdoor, mostly covered patio with great Crossbreeze and large ceiling fans to keep it cool on those hot summer days. There is an inside area that is cafeteria style seating for those days you just can't be outside. As everyone knows this is a creation by the founder of the Peg Leg barbecue joint and it's apparent in the quality of the barbecue. However, the food was bland, barely seasoned, which was disappointing. Sat at the bar, and it took forever to get a second drink, then had to leave with the tab open.
