Where to start describing this place?…read more Hardware: do you remember that local hardware store that always had that one weird part you needed? This is that place. Plumbing, electrical, fasteners, fan belts, air filters, light bulbs, tools, small engine repair, keys, etc... Feed: farm and garden supplies, compost, feed, local produce, etc... Farmacy: homeopathic remedies, CBD, fresh local herbs and spices, teas, etc... They also have a fine selection of beer and wine, and a kitchen with wonderfully fresh, locally-sourced meats and produce - great burgers and fries, salads, mushrooms, onion rings, etc... (I hear pizza is coming;-) And since the owners are accomplished musicians, they put in a full stage with back line, lights and sound, a piano and a Hammond organ with Leslie. They have 2 or 3 musical acts a day. Come in for lunch, where most days Gene Dunlap (Faron Young, Loretta Lynn, et.al.) plays piano jazz and country, often accompanied by a patron who happens to play an instrument or sings. Around dinnertime, there is typically a jazz combo playing the great American songbook while you eat, or you can browse for hardware with a beer in your hand! Can't do that at Lowe's! Nightly entertainment is one or two acts playing all styles: blues, country, rock, pop, bluegrass, soul, R&B; everything from solo singer/songwriter to full bands with horns, and everything in between. Check their social media for the current lineup. Saturday afternoon is one of the most magical times - the Open Community Jam starts at noon and everyone is welcome to come participate - can't play an instrument? That's okay, come and sing your favorite song, backed up by some of Nashville's best. Oh, and they've converted the loading dock and back yard to a smoking and pet-friendly hang spot that doubles as an extra stage and performance space where they often have outdoor festivals and makers markets. Family-friendly, everyone-is-welcome, judgement-free community vibe. If you want a fancy, corporate, cookie-cutter hardware store or honky-tonk, this ain't it. If you prefer a down-home, out of the way, locally owned and run small business, try Joelton Hardware. This is my favorite place. It'll be yours, too. P.S. A few of the other reviews have mentioned that service can be slow at times. This is often because the owner and/or her kids are doing everything - cooking the food, waiting tables, selling hardware, and running the register. It will only get better as business builds and Kris can hire more people. Be patient and enjoy the vibe of the place. It is always worth it to your soul to slow down a little and escape the hustle and bustle.

You walk in the store and there is a bar with a cash register. A few tables scattered down the middle with a stage on the far left side of the room. You see the kitchen window in the back, but there are also various items you can buy. Need a light bulb? Got it. Plumbing? Yep. Electrical? Sure. Fan belt? Why not. In short, a very unique atmosphere and worth coming at least once just to see it for yourself. When we got there, the band had just gotten up to play. The lead singer announced his drummer was unable to make it, so his son was stepping in. How was the band? They were okay. But this is just outside of Nashville, where you can find famous country artists singing in their local church and musicians that can pick up any song by listening to a short section on their phone. The kid was actually a good drummer. Band played a lot of oldies, and not country. I give them two thumbs up. Decent beer list for the standard domestic and craft beers you find at most places. I believe they rotate some of their handles, but did not confirm that. Food? Fairly standard for a small town place. Tenders were breaded in house. Not sure, but the fries appears to be hand cut, with skins on. If frozen, they did not destarch the fries, which would be unusual. The gyro is not on a spit (not surprising) so a bit less appealing, but the fresh produce was a nice touch after so many places having what is obviously sysco produce. I would rank this as a nice spot to grab a meal and listen to live music after a trail walk in either Beaman Park or Fontannel.

I want to share my experience as a Drakewood bride…read more Initial meeting: My introduction to Drakewood Farm was an absolute dream. I was shown around and I instantly connected with my host. Her energy and excitement throughout the entire tour made me excited and I could truly picture myself getting married there. Six months before wedding: The planning meeting. My fiancé and I met with our assigned wedding coordinators. This was a seamless experience. We felt heard and they knew exactly when to jump in and support us with decision making. This two hour meeting felt like five minutes because we were having such an enjoyable time planning the most important day of our lives. We left the meeting feeling extremely excited and ready to go. They also assured us they were able to make changes, talk through any worries or add to our original plan. We could email or call any time! After this meeting I was able to communicate any small changes, detail questions, or concerns via email. They were quick to respond and instantly made changes to our planning sheet as requested. This entire process was seamless and I was never left hanging. Two weeks before the wedding: I sent an email that was left unanswered for several days. I finally received a response from the owners, not the coordinators who I had been communicating with since day one. Then the owners began asking me questions that had been gone over in detail in our planning meeting. Instant red flags started popping up. I sent another email asking why I was no longer communicating with my coordinator. I received the response: "when you sign with Drakewood you sign with our team as a whole." This is completely reasonable, but not a single person introduced themselves or offered any sort of explanation as to why I was all of the sudden moved from one person to the owner. The owner, assured me that I would be working with her most experienced coordinator and that she herself would be supporting us the day of our wedding. Frankly I wish the owner had not been there. Day of: The owner did not once welcome me to the venue or introduce herself. The groomsmen, father of the groom and the groom were unloading cars due to no staff there to help. They stacked bar stock in the venue. They were even asked to move the bigger boxes behind the bar once they were already placed inside, to which my husband responded "you can have your staff move them to the correct location. We are here to celebrate our wedding not work for you." The owner had no clue what was going on and was walking around asking questions that had been gone over when I was working with my original coordinators. This was extremely unprofessional and very upsetting. During the rehearsal, the owner told everyone how they would walk in when we had already explained how we had planned to do it. She said we don't usually do it this way and was met with my mother and sister telling her this is how the bride wants it done. Finally an experienced coordinator showed up who actually had her act together. I am absolutely positive if she had not shown up, our day would have been a disaster and a complete disappointment. This coordinator was professional, dressed appropriately for a wedding (unlike the owner who walked around in a bright pink T-shirt for the entire day) and made sure to check in and keep me in the loop from start to finish. They were completely understaffed and it was evident. I am grateful for my new coordinator and all of her help. She truly pulled the entire day together and turned it around. I would hope that in the future, the owner would make sure to communicate with the bride and the families when big changes happen. The entire staff that I worked with leading up to the day was no longer there and I was left in the dark until I started asking questions. This is not how any bride should feel especially when you are spending a LARGE amount of money. In the end we had a beautiful day surrounded by everyone we love! Shout out to our photographer Alyssa Flake who made sure to keep the energy high and was just an absolute dream to work with! Some key moments that I will give Drakewood major kudos for: -Our new coordinator actually did have her act together and I'm glad she was able to step in and make my day come together -The florals were out of this world beautiful! (Although they forgot to give the men boutonnieres so most of our photos have no florals for the men) -The table settings looked incredible (we picked them out but they were executed properly) -The DJ was great and communicated with us in a very timely manner -Food was great, cake was awesome -The setting is stunning and everyone could not stop talking about how beautiful it was

Our daughter lives in Middle TN and we live in Knoxville so planning the wedding we thought would be tricky. Thanks to Amber and the staff at Fiddle Dee Farm it was seamless. Amber was so helpful on our planning visits and being able to use Lauren as our photographer worked out wonderfully. The morning of the wedding we arrived at 10am and the venue was all set up just as my daughter wanted!! Amber even went out and cut some wild flowers to add an extra touch. The day was wonderful we did not have to worry about a thing just enjoy the day. The ceremony and reception were perfect!! Amber worked so hard behind the scenes making sure everything was perfect. Our guests kept commenting on how beautiful the venue was and what a great time they were having. At the end of a great day, our daughter who is a type one diabetic, had a very low blood sugar.
