I stopped in on a Sunday night. I appreciate that their kitchen is open much later than any other restaurant in the neighborhood. I was hungry, but I was also anxious to get home after a long day. I walked in and ordered a craft draft beer and placed an order for a burger to go. Sidelines has a great selection of craft drafts, so I give that part of their pub 5 stars! Their fresh cut fries are also delicious, and deserve a 5-star review! That said, the burger was big but just okay in flavor. What bothered me most is that when I looked at my bill, they tacked on an extra $1 for a "to go" order. $1 isn't going to make or break someone, and I understand an extra charge if someone just orders food to go. In my case, I was a sit-down customer with the beer while I was waiting for a burger and fries in a bag. I guess if I had ordered on a plate, I could have taken a few bites at my seat and then asked for a to go container for my leftovers? I just felt as though I was not appreciated as a customer. They can have the $1, but I most likely will avoid this place going forward. I just don't get the rationale behind charging a customer extra money even if they order a pricey adult beverage enjoyed at a table or bar. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! HORRIFYING!!! I came in with my sister and our friend. We're all young women in our 20s who have each worked as servers for years, so we understand how hard it can be and are incredibly patient and respectful. But this was just out of hand. The appetizers took at least 30 minutes. Our entrées took OVER an hour. Then one meal still came out 15 minutes after the rest of us had already been served. My meal and my sister's came out ice cold and nasty...and my friend's meal came out 15 minutes after ours. Also, I ordered waffle fries, but they forgot them, gave me my friend's regular fries instead (which were also ice cold), and my actual waffle fries didn't arrive until my friend's meal came out 15 minutes after ours. The service somehow got even worse once the food arrived. She would not refill anything! Not even water! We were dying of thirst for 30 minutes. When we asked for water DURING the meal, we didn't receive it until about 45 minutes later, after we had already PAID THE BILL. WORST PART-- We sat there with food in front of us for about 10 minutes just staring at it, because SHE NEVER BROUGHT silverware. She was nowhere to be found! When we politely asked if we could have some so we could actually eat, she had the nerve to joke, "No, you can't." It wasn't funny. Dead silence. We waited 1.5 hours and were tired and hungry. It was just another example of how little she seemed to care about doing her job. What made the entire experience even more frustrating was the complete lack of accountability. Mistake after mistake after mistake, and it took about ten inconveniences before she finally managed to force out the word "sorry" at the VERY END when we were signing the bill, just trying to revive her tip. She came across as lazy, inconsiderate, and like someone who absolutely hates her job. I don't know her name, but she was heavy-set, wore a trucker hat, brown ponytail, and large hoop earrings. Nice My second round of drinks came without even asking, it was just a little busy so I wouldn't hold that against anyone. I feel like I always get good service when I come here and they always have whatever everyone wants to watch on the big screen. Very poor experience. Be prepared with patience to ask for everything 4 times. Drinks, food, utensils, and then be told that your waitstaff will be back - they have to take order at 2 other tables before they'll get a spoon for your kid's ice cream dessert. Whoever is managing this place needs to retrain the very young waitstaff. They're very inattentive and forgetful. The food isn't good enough to tolerate the poor service. I'll start with the fact they were clearly understaffed on a Friday night, and it took us 15 minutes to have a table cleaned off despite many available. I was pleasantly surprised to see the large shrimp. The breading was very spicy. Had it been cooked with the wings? The sandwich was large enough to serve 2 people. The majority of fries were small leftover pieces. When we left, there were 3 other tables filled with 4 people at the bar. Only one table was ordering food. The other groups were ordering beer. So my wife and I stopped by Sidelines on a Saturday night around 7. I was concerned about having to wait but was able to get a table in the bar area. We sat down but waited about five minutes or so before the bartender came over. I ordered a Miller Lite draft ($4.50) and my wife had a water. I ordered a dozen spicy garlic wings and fries. My wife ordered a chicken special. It took at least 20 to 25 minutes for our order to come out. The wings were a fairly good size. They had a pretty good kick to them but I didn't notice the garlic part. The fresh cut fries were outstanding with the exception I got mostly little bits. Sidelines is in desperate need of some TLC from the owners. What was once a wonderful place for wings, burgers, and beer in Sewickley is now just consistently inconsistent. Wings are rarely hot and the flavors are never the same. The kitchen is also almost comically slow. Sewickley has been really good to Sidelines over the years. The pulled pork sandwich was okay, but we later learned that the requested bbq sauce was an additional seventy five cents. (It should have been included, in our opinion). The club was a seven inch cube with three layers of bread, hard as a rock, impossible to eat without silverware. It was tasty, in a hot grilled kind of way. The menu is extensive, too much so. A lot of choices, for all tastes. Our feeling is that a few specialty items, prepared well, would benefit the diners here. This is a great place for a few beers, but not so much for the food. There is a discount for paying cash. Bring your CPA along to explain how it's calculated. We couldn't figure it out. Our waiter gave a vague explanation then walked away. 2/6/25, I decided to stop in and try some food from Sidelines Beer House in Sewickley after my day of work. When I walked in, I asked the folks sitting near an empty seat at the bar if it was available, which it was, and I sat down. When she brought over my drink, I thanked her and let her know she could close me out whenever she was ready since that was all I'd be getting. Nothing special or out of the ordinary about our interactions, typical bar experience aside from her visible bad mood because it was busy; but I can empathize with that. She brought me the check back to sign, and I thanked her again. As soon as I looked at the check, I saw she put my customer seat name as "C Dumb Bi*ch. With Braids". I was really shocked by that and started to shake nervously because I HATE confrontation. There was 100% absolutely nothing to have that be what she put in for my seat name. That was absolutely not called for. I did NOT want to interact with this person (Kari A) again, so I waited until my food came out and showed the food runner the slip and asked for a manager. She said she didn't know if one was there?? OK. So I told the other bartender. She just said sorry a few times and to get home safe, dismissing me. I was so uncomfortable. Sidelines is a nice low maintenance (paper plates) place to stop in for beers and pub style apps and mains. They place is split into a bar area and a table seating area with a good amount of space that can also accommodate a larger group. The service is pretty good and the food comes out in fairly good time as well. They have a ton of beers which are available on draft or bottle/can. Overall we had a great experience but I must say that the zucchini fries were saturated in garlic butter which was a bit much. That won't keep me from coming back so I look forward to future visits. I am giving Sidelines a 4 solely because they have a killer happy hour during the week (Mondays: 5-7 & Tuesdays-Fridays: 4-7). During happy hour, all starters are half off, drafts under 7% are largely discounted, well liquor is $3, and premium liquor is $4. I'm sure there are other specials I am missing in addition to the ones I listed. Every starter I've had has been delicious. The boneless wings are my go-to, but I also love the pretzel sticks, sweet potato fries, and onion rings! My boyfriend and I love to go during happy hour and share a few apps while having a few alcoholic beverages! The negative: The service on the dining side is horrible. We've had the same server twice in a row that could possibly be the most miserable person I've ever encountered. When I asked her questions, she gave me clipped, incorrect responses and did not even seem to care! She was very unprofessional and honestly just ruined the mood of eating out at a restaurant. We now only eat on the bar side of the restaurant. Everyone has been very friendly and kind on the bar side! We came in tonight after our daughter's dance recital. Big mistake. The bartender (and honestly-get rid of her. She is awful) was "helping" our server with drink orders and was unpleasant and rude the entire time. Our waitress couldn't be bothered to make eye contact with anyone and was extremely put out when she was asked to do her job. We won't be back. Sidelines feels like a nice dive bar. They have an incredible selection of beer (mostly in bottles/cans), and some tasty seasonal cocktails. They are often out of certain drink items, which isn't the end of the world. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I've ordered an old fashioned from them before and was given an old fashioned, but instead of bitters the bartender put in vermouth. Besides that, Sidelines has been awesome, and they hands down have the BEST pickle chips in the area. read more

This is a really nice bar in the heart of Sewickley. I came for lunch and sat at the bar. It was pretty quiet but there were a few other customers on a Monday. They have a really good selection of beers on tap. I got a coffee espresso porter and a Belgian style IPA. The prices are good too. The pint of he Porter was $7.50 and 10 oz of the UPA was $3.50. The Turkey avocado wrap was tasty, and the fries that it came with tasted like they were fresh cut instead of frozen. Service was friendly. They have several screens around. In evenings when there are games it looks like it would be a good place to have a drink and watch a game.
