Came here the other day. Got here around 8ish and there was a little line. Two people ahead of me and when I was next to order there was like 2-3 people behind me. There were 4 workers one rolling out the the dough and donuts, another behind the counter frying and glazing the donuts, one taking the orders and ringing up the customers and another making drinks. When I got there there was a variety of donuts, but there weren't many left, however they were continuously making fresh ones. When I walked through the door I was greeted with a welcome (from the guy rolling the dough and donuts). Then as I got up to the line to order I was greeted by a nice young smiling Asian girl. I got 4 donuts: butter and salt, chocolat (came out fresh), vanilla bean (came out fresh) and the cinnamon roll. I also downloaded their app to get the free donut and coffee. As the girl was ringing me up I asked if the free coffee works for the new drink they had, Irish cream latte and the girl said she tried it last time with another customer and it didn't go through, but maybe because it wasn't in the system yet. So she tried it and it didn't go through, so I just told her I'll get an americano. She then said she will try something else, she entered an americano with the Irish cream on top and system took the coupon. I thanked her and was glad the coupon worked. Then the guy frying the donuts (who did not look like he wanted to be there) came from behind the counter to put more donuts on display told her we do not do that. She told him that I wanted an americano and the Irish on top and he said no the Irish cream is not one of the free coffee drink. Like dude don't get your panties in a bunch, it was not a big deal and the coupon said enjoy a free drink, it did not say specialty/seasonal coffees were excluded. I gladly would've paid for the Irish cream on top if he was making such a big deal about it. And reading other Yelp reviews people were able to get matcha lattes and other drinks. Like dude it's free what do you expect. Anyways, I got my coffee, but not sure if the Irish cream was in there because it did not taste anything like Irish cream (not sure if it was suppose to have flavor or what not) it literally felt like I was just drinking a regular latte. However, the coffee was good. I thought the donuts were okay they all tasted the same with a slight flavor difference depending on which donut you got. I can say they were soft though. The new Pasadena Sidecar is officially open and keeping the same quality standard as their OG location. I dropped in to check it out, and yep, still elite donuts. Top pick is hands down the huckleberry. Tart, sweet, soft, it's everything you want in a donut. The butter & salt surprised me too, just the right amount of savory to balance the sweet. I visited this Sidecar location on a Sunday around 2 PM while fasting for Ramadan, hoping to pick up some donuts for a friend's Iftar. Unfortunately, many flavors were already sold out, and the line stretched out the door and wrapped around the building. When I asked an employee for an estimate on when the Celebration Cake donut would be available, he initially tried to help but then told me his manager said he wasn't allowed to give any estimates and could get fired for doing so. I definitely didn't want to put him in a tough spot, but it was frustrating not to have any idea of when (or if) certain donuts would be available. This wasn't my first visit since they opened, and every time I've come, they never seem to have much available. It's disappointing because I'm a fan of Sidecar, but this location still has some serious issues to work out. I had a mobile order and even though the team was clearly not busy, my order wasn't complete. They then started chatting again and then completed my order. I've loved sidecar since I discovered them in San Diego years ago. I've been to this location twice now within the last two weeks. Once on a weekday and once on a weekend. Both times, the majority of donuts were not available which is ok...I'll attribute that to growing pains. The reason for 3 stars at the moment is there are consistency issues which I haven't encountered with other locations. The first time on the weekday, the donuts were delicious and on par with all the other times I've had them from various locations. Over the weekend on 3/15, I noticed they were frying batches very quickly. I don't know if they weren't friend long enough, the dough wasn't made right or what the issue was but for the first time, I did not enjoy any of the donuts. The consistency of everything was not great. I was a bit upset I paid so much for donuts and I would have enjoyed cheaper ones more. The downside is the parking is a bit nightmare in their back lot. Maybe they can figure something out or people could park on the street. I've been a sidecar fan since they have one of the best gluten free friendly donut. Their vegan donut is also gluten friendly. This location is not too big inside but they do have some stool/bar style seating. They will have online ordering system open once they fully run. This new Pasadena location is gorgeous and I really like that it has its own parking lot in the back. I've been here a few times ands really enjoy swinging by during my AM errands for a fresh donut when I am in the mood. Personally, I prefer the raised donuts over the cake donuts just because they are lighter but their cake donuts are also really nice treat. My favorites are their vanilla bean glazed, maple bacon and the huckleberry! Service is always great and line moves quickly. I love their patio area seating. Everyone working down the line was perfectly lovely, however when we got to the register to pay, the person said the free donut and drink were for "after the first purchase" and we were not able to redeem the offer.
