The best doughnuts ever! I was trying to analyze why I love Sidecar Doughnuts so much and I think it's the texture coupled with all their delicious flavors. My favorite is the Huckleberry and I just tried the Butter & Salt for the first time yesterday. Doughnuts are slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The butter and salt one has such a rich creamy taste with just a small hint of salt. Simple but so irresistible! They are pricy for sure at $4.75 each, which kinda helps me not indulge too often. Sidecar doughnuts has been my all time favorite doughnut shop. Whenever I go down to Orange County, I would make extra effort to visit Sidecar. In 2020 I even PM them on instagram if they would ever open a shop in Pasadena area. They replied Pasadena has been on their to do list, just waiting for a right spot. I've been patiently waiting and my wish finally came true in 2025! It's bittersweet though because Sidecar took over Slab's spot in the same plaza as Howlin Ray's. I went on a weekend that they offer banana cream pie malasada all weekend. There was a constant line and they can't keep up the demand for malasadas so there's a group waiting inside just for the malasadas. The staff won't even ring me up for malasadas because he can't promise he can fulfill my order. A lot of the offerings were not in the display case. So I left and go shopping for a while, downloaded their app and place an order in app to pick up at a later time. I ended up getting multiple malasadas and a strawberry rose donut. They did not disappoint. I love Sidecar uses fresh ingredients and make their doughnuts from scratch in the shop. Sidecar has ruined all donuts for me. In a good way. The staff were all friendly even though it was really busy on the weekend. So kudos to them! Parking could be an issue since Sidecar shares a small parking lot with Howlin Ray's. I really wanted to like sidecar Pasadena because I always loved their donuts since they opened in Santa Monica. Since I don't live close, I've been waiting for them to open closer to me. The good: the donuts we got (butter and salt, huckleberry, old fashioned, lemon glaze, celebration cake and cinnamon) were pretty good. Butter and salt has always been my fave and huckleberry is my partners fave. Those were both delicious and just as good as I remembered. What could be better: we got there around 9am on a Saturday and although we didn't wait long (5min), they didn't have about half of their donuts. Raised donuts were not ready yet and they didn't have their savory donuts. I just think if you have such a small selection already, you should have all donuts available by 9am or earlier. I get that it takes time to let them raise or to prep but then maybe don't open until all donuts are available. It feels a bit misleading to get there and have half of the menu just unavailable with no estimated time of when they would be ready. Overall the service was good and I felt like the servers were doing their best given the circumstances. I know it's new so they are still working out the kinks and learning. So excited that side car is my city! Stopped here on the weekend to try the protein peanut butter donut- feature of the month AND they were out! The line was long and the place was busy enough for them to have made more since it was 4 hours to closing. I was super excited when I heard they opened a location in Pasadena. My husband and I would crave these donuts and would go all the way to Santa Monica or Fairfax to get these. I was super excited but then slowly my bubble started to burst. I usually order on the app but the Pasadena location was not available to order for pick up. I guess they are still figuring things out. Luckily we got there and didn't see a line. The parking lot was full due to sharing the lot with Howlin Rays. So we ended up circling a couple times and found street parking. Luckily they did have all the flavors when we got there. Was seeing other reviews that they didn't have many flavors but we went around 11:30 and ALL of them we stocked. My daughter loves the donut drops but unfortunately they didn't have them. Needless to say I had to deal with an unhappy toddler. We got our usuals, and the donuts weren't as flavorful as we remember them at the other locations. They were fresh though so I do love them for that. I ordered a latte and it was overflowing so kind of made a mess(not a big deal). This is our new favorite donut spot that just opened up, but they always run out of flavors so fast that we haven't been able to try anything new for our past 2 visits. We have tried the Huckleberry, the cookies and cream, lemon, old fashioned, vanilla glaze, maple bacon, confetti, and the saigon. They are cake donuts so note that they are hefty and very filling. Our favorites are the old fashioned, vanilla bean, and the lemon but you can't go wrong with any of the flavors. I like that they also aren't too overly sweet like how some donuts can be. I just wish they would have all the options available. Their menu on top does not match or correlate with what they actually have out and half the selection is never available so I can never try anything new. We use the app often and they're always offering some sort of reward so we were also able to try some coffee drinks which were yummy. Have to update my review. While I LOVE these donuts, I can't really continue to eat them. I've been eating them consistently about once a month since I posted my last review. They were a fun treat to look forward to. The reason I won't keep going back is because the donuts lean towards undercooked. They are DELICIOUS but they are undercooked. I'll start by saying my fiancé and I do like the donuts here, but it's a shame I have to give Sidecar 3 stars because the last few times have left us feeling put off. One of the recent times my fiancé ordered a dozen donuts for pickup since we live pretty close by. She grabbed the donuts and came home. It wasn't until she was home that we realized they forgot one of the donuts. It was a bummer but it happens. The next time I placed an order for pickup after leaving the doctors office. It took me about 20ish minutes to get there so I was expecting my two coffees and donuts to be ready. When I got there nothing was ready, not my two drinks or donuts. Once I talked to a worker he quickly put my two drinks together, but then as he was giving them to me I noticed the foam we paid extra for was missing from one of the drinks. I mentioned it to the worker and he asked me which drink was which even though he just prepared them himself. On top of that the cinnamon roll donuts were still baking so I ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for it to be done. The worst part is that once I was home we noticed the center was still a bit raw. Their staff are as equally lovely as their ambiance and doughnuts which never cease to impress and delight my tastebuds. I've been on their Instagram and have seen that they've been closing as early as 2pm due to them running out of donuts. I was excited to try the new flavors they've been posting on their socials BUT unfortunately it didn't go as planned. And despite it being early there wasn't much of a variety put out. I do understand that it's a new location and they are still learning and rolling with the punches but I'm so used to other locations allowing you to order donuts that haven't been put out yet and you'd just wait a little until the ones you wanted were ready. Bummed I didn't get to order my faves. Perhaps mentioning the above in their socials so other customers are aware before they show up in person. This location just opened on last Thursday and got there around 9:40ish. There was a line but it moved fast and was ordering within 30 mins. Theres tables outside for customers to enjoy their donuts. There was a good selection of donuts and they allowed 6 donuts per group and the atomsphere was very clean both inside and out. While i was waiting in line they brought out some donut samples. I got 1 chocolate chip trailblazer, 2 huckleberry, 1 berry parfait and 2 butter and salt. My favorite flavors were the huckleberry and berry parfait one but all of them are so good. They also have a good variety of drinks as well. I do recommend to go early since they can sell out earlier than their actual closing time but its really good donuts. read more

Craving donuts this morning so we decided to check out Sidecar and see what the hype was all about. The donuts did not disappoint! Donuts: We purchased one of each flavor. All were fresh and delicious. The favorites were the Old Fashioned, Lemon, Butter & Salt, Saigon Cinnamon Crumb and Maple Bacon. The Huckleberry, Valentine's Celebration Cake, and Strawberry Rose were tasty but on the sweeter side. Vanilla Bean glaze tasted like an elevated Krispy Kreme donut. Sadly the chocolate options - Chocolate-A-Lot, Salted Malted Cookie Dough and Cookies and Creme were a miss. The chocolate flavor seemed diluted and weak - could be a recipe issue or a mixing/baking issue at this location, but whatever it is - they need work. Don't know how to describe it other than it looked like chocolate but didn't taste like it. Pricing: The donuts are pricey. For us, coming here would be a special treat and not a weekly or even monthly event. A dozen donuts (plus one free donut) with tip was about $65 - a dozen is $56 before tip. Sidecar will not replace our local donut shop. Customer service: The employees were friendly and greeted everyone as they entered. There was a line and a wait for some of the donut flavors but you could see that the staff was working diligently to service everyone as quickly as possible. Parking: The other reviewers are correct. Parking is tough! The shared lot with Howlin' Rays is crowded and not easy to maneuver. Cars get backed up and exiting is tough because of visibility issues. Your best bet is street parking. I'm a big fan of flavored sodas the strawberry cream soda was so yummy. Has a balance of bubbly and creamy taste, however as the drink gets watered down by the ice the carbonation reduces. It wasn't over powered by any sweetness so that was well balanced. It's made with fresh strawberries so that resembles in the drink not being as bright as it is on the board that it's being advertised. The lines aren't too long we waited less than 3 minutes to be attended. I also wasn't gonna get a donut but I couldn't leave without doing so as I tried the buckle berry sample it was so good. However I got the strawberry and it was yummy as well. The donuts are being freshly made and they aren't dry or overly sweet. Will definitely be returning to try other flavors out and forsure will get a strawberry cream soda again. There's a seating area inside but the outside is more spacious. If you haven't been to Sidecar, you are missing out. These are the best donuts in LA. Forget the pink box shops (which I absolutely still love) and forget Randy's. Definitely more of a gourmet donut with top tier ingredients and it actually reminds me of my favorite donut shop on the west coast, Blue Star. Unfortunately, blue star did not survive the pandemic down here. I've been to a handful of sidecar locations, but this one has the best service and great energy from the workers!
