Always love coming here. A bit on the expensive side, but you can't beat the selection. If you're into sours, you won't be disappointed! I was expecting a better experience from this well hyped beer pub. I travelled a distance out of my way to sample their sours and won't go back again, mostly because the service was apathetic and unhelpful. On a quiet night the bartenders were not interested in providing more than a cursory guidance through the large list. One was even condescending, bordering on rude, when asked about a particular beer. On the good side, the selection IS large and covers many styles and brewers; the space is great and the one Side Project beer I sampled (an available cask sour) was a good representation of an all too hard to find style. A whiskey drinker might enjoy the pub as much or more than a sour fan- the back wall whiskey selections are impressive. In hindsight and fairness, my high expectations of boutique brewpubs like Side Project are driven by the best examples in the country (like Avery or Wicked Weed) where a large cast of help will engage even Budweiser drinking patrons in a positive experience. read more

This is one of the best spots in the country to drink sour beers. Corey and SP make world class beers that will blow your mind. The cellar is small and can be a bit intimidating for the uninitiated or for someone who is not a beer geek. But fear not the servers are friendly and will gladly explain the different beers to you. I was meeting some friends around the corner from here and I was early, so I stopped in to grab a beer. They have a great, unique beer selection and several things that I was excited to try. The problem was that the young lady tending the bar, who clearly saw me come in, was too busy on her phone to ask if I wanted a drink. Most unwelcoming place I ever have been Atmosphere was nice and the place looked inviting Walked in with four friends after dinner at schlafley and thought we would stop in for an after dinner drink It was 10:30 on Saturday night We casually walked in It was about half full The waitress very rudely greeted us by throwing the menus dune on the table and telling us that we better hurry up and order because it was last call Then abruptly walked away as she started cleaning up around us Never came back to our table I walked up to the bar and asked if she could take our order and she rudely told us it was clear on the menu that she didn't have to wait on us because you order at the bar We ordered a drink as the two waiters cleaned up feverishly around A few minutes later they turned the lights up and it was clear we needed to leave It was so uncomfortable we left without finishing our drinks Won't go back there again read more

On each of my trips to the STL, I always make it a point to hit up the Cellar. My last two weekend visits consisted of visiting it 3 and 2 times, respectively. Great beer & whiskey selection, proper glassware and knowledgable staff. I've never had a bad time there and always have gotten great service. Wanted to try out this place because it's near our home- boyfriend and I went in one evening randomly. It wasn't very busy, their beer was great, but what really turned us off of ever coming back here was the service. Now, there's barely any service to speak of as you simply go up to the bar and order what you want and that's that. The bartender took over 5 minutes to even acknowledge that we were there sitting at two bar stools. She kept looking over at us but then would pour beers for other people and even went to a table empty handed just to chat for a few minutes. Now I understand if you have orders to fill, but not acknowledging us at all, not even a "be right with you" is unacceptable in my book. read more

It was a beautiful day in St. Louis and my girlfriend and I decided to check out the Side Project Cellar and have an afternoon brew...We walked in, wasn't that crowded, rudely had a beer menu shoved in our face, not welcoming at all...There was blaring uncomfortably loud music...So we left...We won't go back and I hope that they read this and adjust their attitude...The arrogant girl behind the counter may have been having a bad day, and I hope that's all it was. We don't mind paying a bit more for atmosphere and great drinks, but wow! This place is pretty great. Outstanding selection of Side Project beers on bottle and on tap, augmented by an outstanding selection of guest beers in bottle and on tap. Indeed, this place is not a brewery taproom, but rather something of a beer mecca where Side Project just happens to be the emphasis. The place itself is neatly laid out and very clean in appearance - almost too clean and clinical, but perhaps the place just needs a bit more wearing in. The staff was friendly and quick. I should say that the prices here are fairly high, although you are getting some world class beer. Bottles of Fuzzy and Balaton clocked in at $25 per for on-site consumption, while some of the 750ml bottles were $40. I suppose a possible upside of these prices is that the beers will stay available for longer; there are only so many people who would repeat drink beverages at those prices. Overall, this place is outstanding, and if you are in St. Louis you should make every effort to come by. read more

Great selection and good saisons. I like the space as well, but the downfall of both the brewery and this location is the unhelpful attitude of the staff. A few are really good, but all times I've been to either location the person helping me didn't seem too thrilled helping me find something new to try, based on the preferences I gave them. They almost make you feel stupid for asking questions a bit. Pretty sad. Anyway, if you know what you want , great. If you want to taste and figure out what you want, a little difficult in my experience. My favorite saisons though. read more

Cory King, the mastermind behind Side Project Brewery, opened his tap room with his wife Karen King (Karen manages the whole operation) amidst much anticipation. After several visits I can honestly say that the Cellar meets all of my expectations. The Side Project Cellar is a craft beer bar that is certainly classy but fortunately not exclusive. Don't be afraid to come here if you don't consider yourself part of the craft beer high society. I say that because the staff that Karen has put together are some of the friendliest bartenders I have ever been served by. They know the carefully curated tap list inside and out and won't hesitate to guide your decision if you're looking for recommendations. As for the beer itself, I haven't had anything that didn't impress me. Usually there are two Side Project (Side Project specializes in barrel aged, blended beers of the wild, sour, and saison variety) beers on tap and several larger bottles (on-site consumption only) available. Cory's beers have received numerous accolades and are highly sought after by the craft beer community nationwide. The availability of the Side Project beers is a big part of the Cellar's draw. Previously, all of the beers could only be acquired via bottle release days at Perennial Artisan Ales. That required you to line-up for an hour or so to wait among the fanatics for a chance to purchase a limited number of bottles. The Cellar cuts out the waiting and gives you access to those choice brews in the company of friends (grab a board game) and the comfort of the bar. It is worth noting that the Cellar also has an excellent whiskey list for those looking for a stronger drink. If you are into craft beer at all (or have friends visiting who are) be sure to come to the Cellar and try out what all the beer geeks are raving about, you won't be disappointed! read more

One of my favorite bars in St Louis. I'm a big fan of Side Project beers and given their limited supply it's nice that there are always some on tap here. Beyond the Side Project brews is they have a ton of beers on tap and in bottles that you can't find anywhere else in town. The owners take pride in this place and it shows from the glassware to the multi temperature tap system. Overall this is just a really cool place run by very nice people. It's certainly a must visit for beer lovers. read more

The beer list is phenomenal. Great beer served at the correct temperature, and includes a nice cellar list of beers you don't see anywhere. It is no-frills; you are here for the beer. I did spill a couple of ounces of beer and they were less than pleased, so heads up on that. read more

Rude, unprofessional, unwelcoming, and lied to. Me and my girlfriend visited this place after coming from chicago to go to 4hands lupulin festival for the release of their Warhammer ipa on a saturday. We heard they had a good selection of sours so we thought we would check them out. The place looks wonderful on the inside and they have a great selection of rare and sought after beers but that's all they really have going for them. My friend and his girlfriend bought two bottles which came out to $60 for us all to share.We had been in the sun all day at the fest and were tired so my girlfriend layed her head down at our table. No later than 5 minutes did the owner come up to us saying we needed to leave. He said " she's a liability and you guys need to leave now." I simply said okay we were just leaving with no attitude and got my girlfriend and left in a cab.i understand him being skeptical being a new business owner but he just kept repeating " you need to leave" hovering over me and following us as we left even when we were complient and didn't do anything wrong. We wern't loud or obnoxipus or rude or knocking things over, he kicked us out for my girlfriend laying her head down on the table for 5 minutes? And because they rushed us so much my girlfriend left her purse with her bank card, id, and phone behind. Thankfully they had it but we had to resort to twitter to communicate since they only have an internet voicemail service and no business phone. We couldn't pick it up since they were closed Sundays and mondays but they said they'd ship it tuesday. But worst of all they lied to us about the day they shipped it when we talked to them friday. They said they shipped it tuesday over the phone yet when we received it the mail saturday and the receipt inside said the package was shipped overnight from Friday. Why lie about it? Just say we were busy and forgot but we'll ship it overnight. So long story short go for the rare beer but not the service or rude owners. I've never wrote a bad review or been kicked out of anywhere in my life but this place just rubbed me the wrong way. read more
