Dropped in on Thanksgiving night with my husband, just to get out and about. I tried two of their own crafted beers - the Vanilla Cream and the Pumpkin Ale. Both were excellent, and I wish I had the fortitude to try all five of them in one night. The selection of other beer was excellent, and had a lot of intriguing offerings, as well as some familiar ones...yet no AB, Miller, or Pabst. As the sign said, "no crap on tap." What might be cool is if they eventually offered one of those sampler flights, where I could have tried all five of their own types. I will be back, though! read more

Exit 6 has a really cool vibe - all of the backer names, futbol scarves and other decor give it an almost Irish feel, which makes it a true neighborhood brewery. We went during a Mother's tap takeover, but Exit 6 has a large enough tap system to feature guest taps and keep their own beer flowing too. I didn't try anything from Exit 6, but the beer I had from Mother's was excellent. I also liked that there was a wide variety of cans and bottles and a small liquor shelf, expanding the selection further and offering something for everyone. There are games like Yahtzee and Jenga, great for large groups of people. Our bartender for the evening was great, and made suggestions and was friendly. The only thing that was missing at Exit 6 was a food menu - but I did notice that you could bring in your own food. read more

Caveat: reviewed based on multiple experiences during COVID from October 2020-March 2021. Beer list: extensive draft selection and variety. Lines are clean and cared for, and beer selection is clearly curated by someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about craft beer. They are also a brewery and generally have several of their own beers on tap. They do multiple size options at good prices, so you can really take advantage of a nice day out doing some tastings. They also have some canned / bottled beer and do crowler fills. Bar: it's a brewery. Bar is limited. There are a few good liquors available, mostly whiskey and bourbon, with some ciders, seltzers, and possibly a wine or two available. This isn't the place to get a mimosa or a Bloody Mary. It's a brewery. Food: again, they're a brewery, not a gastropub, and do not have a full kitchen. Food is limited to Friday and Saturday (I believe), but is surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Owner seems to continually try to improve selections, and on Fridays during lent has started doing Fish Frys (which were exceptionally good!). If you go in expecting bar-snack type food, you won't be disappointed. There are full restaurants within walking distance. Atmosphere: there are TVs and games, but none of them are loud and in your face. Tables are plenty and well-spaced / distanced, with comfortable seating available. Patio seating is also available. Noise level is generally low enough that you can easily have a conversation. Tables, bar, and bathrooms are clean. Comfortable and welcoming feel. Parking is generally available with a large lot shared with other businesses. Staff: you will generally see the same staff, limited to the owner, bartender, and cook. Which is great, because they are all fantastic. Here's the thing...staff is absolutely genuine. My experiences with the staff have been overwhelmingly positive, but my impression is also that they wouldn't hesitate to put an end to poor behavior. Be nice, be civil, and behave...or be elsewhere. If that appeals to you, then you'll have a great time at Exit 6...which I really appreciate as a patron. Overall: I've formed my above opinions over a few months since moving to the area. After our second visit, they recognized us. After our third, they greeted us by name. After that, I noticed many of the same faces at the tables and bar...and there is a reason for that: the staff creates a comfortable space, with high quality beer and service, at good prices. Five taps are dedicated to beers made on-site (find Exit 6 on facebook to see exactly when the Feds will let them start brewing), and the remainder have a great selection of craft beers from all over the United States. Even more varieties are available in the bottle. There is no food, but you can order in or bring your own. The atmosphere can be on the beer-snobish side and please don't walk in and ask for a Bud or a Bud Light. I had the inside scoop as a relative is a home brewer and gave us the details on this new establishment. I've gone 2 times, and both times. I've been very happy. They are all about No Crap on Tap. And I'll say, I've not had any crap since I've gone. If you want to compare it something, I'd say it's similar to ITAP, in the sense that there is no food. You are more than welcome to bring anything in though. It is centrally located to lots of local eateries. The atmosphere is nice, Jeff, the owner is really cool. If you don't know what you want, he'll help you out. He's quite passionate about his beers on tap. They will eventually have their own home brew, but I think they are still waiting to get some approvals on that. But based on some local brews I've had, I'm quite excited. If you are looking for a chill place to watch the game, or just hang out with friends, this is the place. It's not a let's get dressed out and go out kind of a scene. I love a great craft beer. Exit 6 has many. Some of them are theirs, but they also carry a nice selection of other people's beer (including 2nd Shift, which has some amazing hoppy beers). They also have crowlers, which are quart sized growlers in the shape of a can. The main benefit is you can take it home and not drink it for weeks and have it still fizz. You can't do this with the bottles. The atmosphere is a bit like a frat house, to be honest. Not what I would generally expect from a brew pub, but brew pub is a loose definition, as you cannot get any food here (they do let you bring it in). The brewery is located in a strip mall and feels like a strip mall kind of place. Fortunately, you can take out growlers and crowlers (see above), if you want beer to go. The local crowd is very nice, however, and I had a great time. Also introduced me to 2nd Shift, although I was bummed I could not get a crowler of The Art of Neurosis, as they only crowler their own beer. :-( My advice would be to try their chili beer (the jalapeno is wonderful, the habanero even more so) and sit back and relax. read more

There is not a better place to grab a beer and hang out in the St. Charles area than here at Exit 6. The beers they brew themselves are very thoughtful, flavorful, and interesting. They have a little something for everyone year round, whether it is their standard fare, or one of their seasonal delights. In addition to their beers, they have a variety of other beers from many different breweries. All of them unique. One of their tag lines at the bar is if you have seen a commercial for a beer, they don't have it. Some stuff I've found at various other stores/bars, but others I've only seen it offered here. A tip, most of the time they don't have their 2 nitro taps listed on their board, so make sure you ask what they have on nitro, because nitro is the coolest. They also have many other bottled beer selections, and now offer Crowlers for you to go folks. After you get your beer picked out, they have quite a few board games, giant jenga, free darts, and other various activities to challenge your friends at. You can't help but have fun here, so do yourself a favor, give it a try, any day after 4. read more

I'll admit right away that I'm not much of a beer guy. I stopped in here on a whim, just wanting to check it out and didn't have much of a plan really. I drank one glass of the pineapple flavored beer the bartender recommended, and then decided to move on and find some dinner. I personally don't know how to rate this place, I mean, I don't want to be unfair to the concept, and being a "non" beer guy, it's hard to be 100% fair. I will say this. The bartender was nice, and helpful in terms of the types of beers they offered and what I should try based on my go to brews. I think if I were rating just on this point and the taste of the beer that was recommended, the rating might be higher. The problem I had with Exit Six is that there wasn't much of at atmosphere. There were TV's on the walls, several bar height tables, and even a couch and fireplace area. I noticed the patio wasn't very busy, but there was one available. Some people at one of the tables had brought board games to play while they drank, which really leads me to believe that this is more just a sit and drink almost in the same capacity that I would sit and drink at home. If I were to make assumptions, I'd say it is a crowd of parents with young children who are out to cut loose just a little bit, but don't want to do the whole "bar" scene. If I wanted to "cut loose" with some Clue and a few hours of Win, Lose, or Draw, I'm pretty sure my Draftmark system and the coat closet will provide me with just as much atmosphere as this pub did. Does this mean I won't be back? Hell no. It deserves a fair shake. Next time me and the guys want to go try something new, Exit Six will be on the short list. I really wish this place would change their business model. I've been there a few times, and while the atmosphere is ok for what it is, they have just one person running the show. You have to stand in line to get a beer, and do your best to pick something from a scrolling list. How about a beer menu with at least the staples on it, and the list on the monitor can have some specials? No table service really is a problem, and I've watched customers come in and then leave when no one waited on them. I will say that the food (limited) was pretty decent, but it's only available if the one and only cook shows up. :( Take it to the next level and hire some help to take care of your customers!! Great place! Nano Brewery I suppose you would call it. A micro brew spills more beer than they make all year. Stopped in there last night and had my first experience at Exit 6. Service was excellent, and the bartender was friendly, helpful, and paid attention to our drink levels. We were drinking half pints, and they never went empty before she was right there asking if we wanted another. Met their brew master after he caught us peeking in at their set up. He just got done boiling, and you could still smell the malt which is one of the best smells ever. He was very friendly, and informative regarding how they create their batches at E-6. The set up there is awesome, and gives any home brewer hope that it is possible to make amazing beer yourself. Obviously their set up is much more intricate, and elaborate but still true to the home brewer roots. On to the beer. First off, I am not sure why people complain that there are no mainstream beer products. If you want a glass of bud select go drink at Applebees. The same reason you wont get arbor mist at a wine bar, E-6 is geared towards the person who appreciates the craft industry, and the hoppy IPA's or malty stouts. I don't blame E-6 for not offering the larger brews... why would you want your patrons drinking ab products when they put the smaller breweries out of business. Why would you want your patrons drinking watered down beer over exceptional brews that people have put their blood, sweat, and tears into? This is a beer drinkers bar plain and simple. Back on to the beer... I started the night with E-6's own Cream Ale. Wow! This beer was amazing. The cream flavor was similar to a creme soda. Light, but flavorful. If you want a light beer, it doesn't get lighter or better than this at E-6. Next two beers were the E-6 Brown Ale, and then on to the Founders Breakfast stout. Both were awesome. The breakfast stout was strong and malty (I prefer stouts, and porters over IPA's), and the coffee flavor was excellent. Also had the Creme Brulee IS which was like candy. My advice is go with half pints because there are way too many beers available, and you don't want to miss out. I'll be back as soon as I can! FYI the atmosphere at E-6 is great! Don't let the strip mall fool you, its a different world in there... cozy and relaxed. They also have plenty of TVs which makes it a great place to eventually watch a Blues game if that lockout BS ever ends. read more

I am always for the concept of a microbrew place. I want this place to succeed because of things I will discuss in mere seconds. But seriously, what's with putting them in some kind of mall when you're in the county, especially when you're the only one in that strip? This place could be in one of their abandoned warehouses or similar spaces that have been left for said structures. Our server was also the bartender, so the fact that he was tending to us at many moments of the evening tells us who's the real boss there. He also knew about all the beers and gave recommendations to me and my friends. They have some interesting combinations (such as my raspberry stout) and other hoppy brews I am willing to try next time I am in St. Chuck! Which brings me to the location. Again. St. Chuck is a developing place I see, but this is extremely out of place in the area. This place deserves to be in a place where people are there to enjoy their beers, not to play country all the time until the last person who gets drunk. The crowd was unusually older and I felt extremely out of place. Typically microbrew places bring all sorts of people, but even the hipsters are scared to go here simply because it is across the river. This is a great hidden gem that is just around the corner from Mannino's Market in Cottleville. I have tried 7 or 8 of the beers that they brewed and I have liked them all, especially the vanilla cream and the IPA. They always have a great lineup of other craft beers on tap (14 or 15 other taps) and a good selection of beer in bottle. The atmosphere holds them back from getting the 5th star on my review. It can be very loud from the juke box music and the patrons, and there is nothing to absorb the sound (carpet, acoustical tiles in ceiling, etc...) Also, the decorating is very bare and looks like they ran out of money to finish off the space. All that being said, I GO THERE FOR THE GREAT BEER! This is a no nonsense craft beer bar. It is similar to ITAP, but these folks know their beer and they are very happy to help you find something that you will like. read more

It's all about the beer at this place! (As it should be) Last Friday, after a grueling day of providing moral support for my awesome, shoe shopping wife, she said, "We're done. It's time to start our date." I had no idea where she was about to take me. First stop was getting take-out food from a local restaurant. Then she said, "Turn here, then there, and we're here." I said, "Where?" She pointed. "Exit 6? What's this? More women's shoes?" "Nope," she said. "Beer." A smile lit my face. Did I mention my wife is awesome? We found a table and started unpacking our food. The whole time I'm looking at the list of beers on tap behind the bar. More than 20. There's a sign behind the bar that says something like, "If you've seen it in a commercial, we don't have it." Another smile lit my face. The bartender, Justin, came to our table, welcomed us and took our order. Well... it took me a bit longer to order because there are so many choices. Justin was very patient and friendly. I was happy to hear that they serve half pints. I could then sample 4 different beers and not exceed my 2 beer limit. My wife has a one beer limit, so I got a taste of two more. I'm a home brewer and I love sampling craft beer from everywhere. Exit 6 had me feeling like a kid in a candy store. I'm looking forward to our next visit which is hopefully at a time when the owner is there. I'd love to meet him. If you're into decor and ambiance and are looking for a nice, restaurant style pub with food service.... stay away from this place. You won't be impressed. They don't serve food. You either order delivery from somewhere once you get there or bring your own food. If you're into mass marketed, mass produced, watered down beer from the likes of AB/InBev, Miller, Coors, etc., and you don't like to try new things... you won't like this place. Go somewhere else. I had to move away before this place could start brewing their own stuff and there was great sadness in this parting, at least on my part. I've know most of the people involved in this venture for many years due to our shared homebrewing habits and have no problem telling them that their beer sucks. I've finally managed to return to the area and sample their goods for the first time on a professional level. Just Damn! I've tried their in house IPA and IIPA tonight. They were fantastic! As a caveat and just to be fair I've moved to Texas a year ago were the local IPAs are usually something between mediocre and over hopped BudLight. Maybe I'm jaundiced. Go in and try yourself. This place is a nice sports bar atmosphere in a strip center. A little off the beaten path, but worth visiting. They brew their own, and have a great guest beer selection on their electronic beer boards. They offer small 4-6 oz half pints for you to sample a few. I enjoyed a few of their own brews (The "F word" stout is worth a whirl for the newsworthy history of it - search internet for it). AMAZING wings!!! I'm only 21 but I've been eating wings from the time I could eat solid food. I usually prefer mine extra crispy. The wings at Exit 6 don't even need to be extra crispy .. they're just so good the way they are. Ok besides that, they have sooo many different kinds of beers. Many that I've never heard of but they're so good and diverse. The bartenders are amazing. They have a bunch of different games and things to do inside. I love how "low key" but lively this place is! To start, I have never written an on-line review. I have never been moved to do so until now. I REALLY wanted to like this place. My wife and I were meeting a friend for a drink last night. It was close by, and smoke free. None of us have ever been, so we were excited. The smoke free, beer only concept, decor, and ambiance were very promising. We walked in and sat down ready for an enjoyable evening. Like I said, we were excited. The 1 star rating is for the service. It was AWFUL. Absolutely FOUL. * The bartender was short with us. No smile, no suggestions, nothing. For instance, we had no idea that Exit 6 brewed their own beer (learned from other reviews). I looked at the list and said "bring me something light." Perfect time to introduce me to their brand. She brought me a Schlafleys. Even if they didn't have a light in house brew, she could have said "hey this is our in house brand, it's not light but try it and tell me what you think." When she brought our drinks she dropped them off and didn't say a word. She was heading outside to smoke. I had to stop her to find out what I was drinking. *We were asking questions from the beer list on the table. Her answers were "don't have that, don't have that, don't have that." Then said "That list is old." Never pointed us to a current list. * We had to go to the bar 2x to get more rounds. She was completely unfriendly. After handing me my beers she walked away saying NOTHING. I said "thank you" and she barked "welcome" out of the side of her neck. * She brought our friend a flat beer. Or friend took it back and said said it was flat. Bartender said "its probably the keg." Didn't offer to exchange it. * My wife (doesn't drink beer) asked for a soda (diet coke). When she came back she asked her "do you still have Fitzs?" Bartender (with a short tone) said "you got our last soda." Sat it down unopened, no glass no ice. And not ONCE did she come back to offer a water or anything else. *My wife asked for the bill she came back and said "It's $30.00." No itemized bill. We paid it, and then she (I kid you not ) THREW) it on the table, walked off with not a word. Here are things we never heard from the bartender: "Hello welcome to Exit 6" "Are you folks from around here?" "How do you like that beer?" "You like light beer? May I suggest - ?* "You like spicy beer? May I suggest?" "Are you sure you don't want a beer ma'am? I'm sorry we don't have any more soda, would you like a water? I had great expectations for this place, now it's a different story. Atten:Please don't waste your time at this place. The owner (tall, bald guy) is a compete a** ,has a negative attitude and his customer service is horrible. The beer selection they have isn't bad, some varieties are rare, But for the most part you can find great selections @ other bars with way better customer service. I wouldn't waste my time or money on another bad experience. When you own and operate your own business, you should act as if you appreciate all of your customers. Me = Craft beer geek- and I've been wanting to visit for a quite a while. The other night on a whim DH and I decided to make a trip out. Im going to write this review in a little different style, because really, I'm torn. Pros- UGH-MAZING beer--- Peaches and Cream ale-- awesome, peach taste wasnt over bearing, and wasnt too sweet. Pineapple Saison- that was okay for me- missing the pineapple flavor and a little carbonated- it was served in a glass that normally signifies high ABV but the ABV was only 5% according to the board-- i was hoping for more pineapple and depth, and less carbonation. Ryanes Red- this beer was smooth, a smooth hop flavor was lingering but nothing bitter or overbearing-- and i am not a fan of IPA's bc of the hops, so this was refreshing for me.. (it is not an IPA) i really enjoyed it. Now, the reason we came here- VANILLA CREAM ALE-- aka, the ice cream beer. This beer has been noteable at several beer festivals around the area, and deeply loved by even non beer lovers--- it does, it truly tastes like ice cream beer. It was just as delish as I remembered... They have a really great beer selection that extends outside of their own.. We chose to stick with theirs because thats why we went. Cons--this makes me sad. We came here with the intent of taking a couple growlers home. Apparently, they didnt have any, and had been ordered for a couple weeks. What.....? That seems like poor management to me-- maybe I am wrong-- Growlers are a MUST when the only place your beer is served is at YOUR brewery. Second, the interior--- the only thing that turned me off was the gross couches sitting by the fireplace--it looked like 100 frat boys have sat on that couch,and the rug in between them needs to be replaced I dont care if you get new ones off Craigslist- ANYTHING will be better than those! ick! This is as craft brew as craft brew can get. Exit 6 is an example of a neighborhood brewery that everyone should support. Great beer made by the hardest working guy I have ever met. Proprietor Jeff Britton and his brews are a great example of what America was built on. Rotating taps ensure you don't have the same selection even if you visit twice in one week. I have been to Exit 6 three times now. First on opening night and twice since to try his new brew. Opening night was rough but they can be so I will focus on my last two trips. The place is easy to park at and find. The selection is good and so are the Exit 6 beers. I have had the Vanilla Cream, Ryanes Red, and their Pumpkin. All three were very good. I especially thought the cream and red were exceptional. The man behind the bar (and owner I believe) was helpful and seemed genuinely happy to be there and it sent out a good vibe that made our time there better. I look forward to going back and trying more of their beer. Note that they do not serve food but you can bring in your own. The only thing I can think of that they could improve on is adding to the beer decor. I realize they are probably working on this over time anyway. Rome was not built in a day. read more

Too loud! I hate to have to shout to enjoy a beer with a friend... Beer selection is very interesting but hard to sample in an organized manner. The sour beer is truly awful. read more
