We stopped in here on a cool summer evening and it was delightful! We came because we had a Pub Pass and were curious about the place and it turned out to be a ton of fun. We didn't try the food, but the beers were fresh and so delicious and the waitstaff gave us a few samples to pick our favorite. It was a great way to end the night.

What was once a tiny museum in the old French village of St. Charles is now a pub with a bar and back room for casual dining. The menu is limited to a few choices of starters, salads and pizzas or pizza breads. Prices were reasonable and food was good. We came in as a large group ( about 20) with advanced notice, but there was no problem with service. There is also an outdoor seating. A brewing demonstration was going on for the afternoon. Friendly atmosphere, like a neighborhood bar.

This place is very chill and a good place to grab some drinks! Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and the atmosphere was chill. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly. We just got beer and all was good. I really liked the different pictures on the wall about St. Charles and the locations history. Stop by if you're looking for a chill place to grab some beers!

Good News Brewery in old French town St. Charles is a perfect place to grab a local 636 beer and wood fired pizza!

Walked in and sat at the bar on a Saturday afternoon. A bridal shower in the back. Pizza is great, size of a normal paper plate.

Love this new chill spot close to Main Street. The decor and vibe is amazing. Wish pizza wasn't burnt on bottom and welcomed or serviced when we walked in. The decor and fun train was great. Seems hipp and up coming to the town. Cool that not everyone knows of the spot yet.

    Happy Hour!

Didn't try the food, but the drinks were great! Good variety of beers and a nice patio in the back. The building itself used to be a barn I think and they transformed it inside and looks great! They even have pictures of what the building used to be inside which was neat to look at and read through the clippings hung. And everyone we encountered were very friendly and personable!

First time at this location. I think it is neat place in French Town. They have a small parking lot next to it and an outdoor patio with an old train wagon. I like most of their beer. We got beer flights and wood fired pizza this time. They didn't burnt the crust like their O'Fallon location did. So it is good news! :)

All four of us got something different (I think one was a blueberry beer of some sort... but don't quote me on that), and all the drinks were so good, that we had to pass them around for the other others to try! Ended up going down the menu and ordering another one for each of us, so we got to try eight drinks in total and all of them were epic! The bartender was super sweet, and right there, even though the establishment was pretty busy, as soon as one glass got down to 1/4, he'd come by and ask if we were ready for another, but wasn't intrusive as much as just making sure we were OK and seeing if we needed anything. He was there and gone in a flash, as I think, he thought that since we were two couples, he didn't want to interrupt any conversations, but wanted to make sure we were taken care of. We made sure to tip him well. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were fantastic, especially for a late evening out at an establishment that serves liquor, it felt like a high-quality establishment, but in no way did we feel out of place, nor were we made to feel out of place. If anything is the exact opposite. The bartender made it where it was very warm and welcoming in a good place to socialize for us. We will definitely be back! Next time and time to try the food too!

I've been a lot of places, but the country girl in me remains. So when I saw the mason glasses on the table I knew I was about to eat good. The menu was straight to the point (they have hummus) and that makes me feel like you're sharing your favorite dishes consistently. The drink menu is extensive (because it's a distillery) and there are so many unique things you can try. I had the blackberry lemon press and it was yummy. We also had the sloppy fries, smash burgers (one with signature bacon jam), onion rings, cheesecake, and carrot cake. It was all very flavorful. They have a store attached if you want to take some drinks home & they have a virgin menu for your Christian friends. The dining room is well lit and you can eat outside on good weather days. Even in bad weather days, it's a nice view outside with only glass between you and outdoors. Staff were great and service was timely. I would say the food is cooked to order & you don't need to tell them how to prepare a burger. It comes out juicy and medium well to perfection. They also have a BBQ kick to the ketchup they serve. Oh, there's a Rte 66 sign around the corner if you're just passing through (but I get the sense they know if you're not from around those parts). I hope your dining experience is as good as mine was!

The beers are great--especially the IPAs, wheats and stouts. The food is very good as well--my favorite is the jalapeño Mac and cheese bite appetizer but the burgers, salads and pizza are also good. I like to sit at the bar and the bartender that is there most of the time is awesome--so helpful, friendly and efficient. However, the service yesterday was very lacking. We counted 11 staff members just standing around and talking to each other while totally ignoring us. Three were at the end of the bar and we sat there for about 5-10 minutes before the bartender came out from the kitchen and gave us a menu. We were the only ones sitting at the bar and it would have been nice if one of those three employees had told us that the bartender would be coming out soon or at least give us a menu. The bartender was very good though--quite friendly and helpful--she gave us several samples of beer and food recommendations. We ordered the bites and a mushroom Swiss burger which came out exceedingly fast and both were very good. We had several Giddy Goats which were super tasty and cold...my boyfriend isn't a huge fan of stouts but he loved this one! We checked out the store on our way out and my boyfriend decided to buy a six-pack to go. He went back to the bar, holding his wallet out to pay but all the employees just ignored him for several minutes so he got tired of waiting and left without buying it. We don't understand why there were so many employees milling around doing nothing and ignoring patrons? Are the employees not taught to cover various tasks? Even so, they should be aware of the customers' needs and find the employee responsible for that task. I could understand if it was super busy but it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was nearly empty . I love this place and will continue to be a regular customer but hope for much better service next time!

Narrow Gauge has a great microbrewery vibe, and the beer selection was impressive--everyone in our group found something different to try. I went with a 16 oz Mullanphy's, an Irish-style red ale, and it really hit the spot. Smooth, flavorful, and exactly what I was looking for after a long day. Since we had worked up an appetite, we ordered food from Cugino's Italian Restaurant next door, which pairs perfectly with the brewery setup. It made for a seamless experience--great beer and great food without having to go far. What stood out just as much as the drinks was the service. The manager on duty was attentive and made sure our group was taken care of, which added to the overall positive experience. All in all, it was a great way to wrap up the day. I'd definitely recommend Narrow Gauge for anyone looking for quality craft beer and a laid-back atmosphere.
