Food is good!food is fast! Great place to enjoy a hockey game and enjoy the good food

Siam to Go (located inside the ice rink, behind the school) is probably the best Thai to be found on the island -- and it isn't even the only Thai place around. :) Lots of pros, a few cons. Pros: - They use a lot of good, fresh vegetables, in their dishes. Fantastic! - They also use a lot of protein in most dishes, i.e. noodle and curried dishes. We found portion sizes of main course dishes to be quite generous. - If you ask for spicy, you get spicy... - Some of the food has a smokiness that might even be authentic wok hai. Even if that good smoky flavor isn't from a sizzling hot wok, its subtlety is quite enjoyable. They don't bonk you over the head with it like some restaurants do. - They even use some fish sauce in some dishes, where appropriate. The food is nowhere near being as gringo as they could get away with being, in a place like Nantucket. - A beef teriyaki appetizer was on the small side for the price, IMHO, but it was tender and delicious, reminding us a lot of the Malaysian meat jerkies we know and love in NYC. Cons: - If you ask for spice level 1, dishes still come fairly spicy -- too spicy for our kids (who are accustomed to eating south Indian food with a bit of heat). Actually, a dish that we asked for at spice level 1 was nearly undifferentiable from one we asked for at level 3... - A chicken satay appetizer was, like the beef teriyaki, on the small side for the price (three small, verrrrry thin-cut pieces), and was fairly bland -- but it was tender. - Like a lot of otherwise good Thai food in the US, including in Boston, a city with excellent Thai food, everything was excessively sweet -- far, far sweeter than would be the norm in Thailand anywhere, and not properly balanced by acid and heat. - Along the lines of criticism as the prior point, the peanut sauce and nam pla were both nasty, industrially-produced syrups, essentially. --- We're lucky enough to have some truly world class Thai restaurants nowadays in NYC, especially of the Isaan persuasion. If this point of reference is helpful: Siam to Go doesn't quite meet that standard of stinky / spicy authenticity, but the Thai-American food it serves is of often-high quality and enjoyable in its own right. Ice rink Chinese food. Both places on the island if I had to guess are owned by the same family. Food is no different from one to the other. I like the ice rink to catch a game and they do sell other concession snacks but that's all I got. Just does not taste fresh and with all the farms on this island it could be a lot better. Foods not good at all. Sorry one of my favorite foods to eat and I have had so much better. read more

OK, my life is seriously changed! Having only tried the OTHER despicably filthy, horrible food, rude people Thai place that has NEVER heard of spices and make me sick,, this place is a GOLD mine! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Thai food, but having eaten it in Boston, NYC & LA where it's incredible, when I ordered it from that OTHER Thai place I was SO depressed and disappointed. The food from SIAM is OUT of this world, the scrummiest, spicy perfection! Order the chicken and cashew and pineapple 3.5 or 4 level. Get the Pad Thai! As far as Thai cuisine goes this place is good for being in an ice skating rink and on a small island. Of course it doesn't compare with big city food, if that's what your expectations are then go to the big city. Very few Asian options on island so this is a treat and it is as good as it gets. Fried rice is tasty, curry was good albeit small portion. Little girl at register also made the experience worthwhile. Definitely going to support this place. read more

Take out only place literally inside an ice rink. Tip: call and order in advance! Went on a rainy day and they were so busy and the wait was very long for the food. Food was good and basically what I was expecting. Very friendly service. read more

Prices are reasonable but portion sizes have shrunk considerably. We each got an entree that used to be perfectly satisfying but now we were left hungry and needed to go elsewhere for food. I'm not a big fan of large portions but this was ridiculous. And when they add meat, it isn't very much! read more

Hot (and spicy) food served on ice! Yes, it's IN the ice rink (only a tiny sign is on the door, sure it's a Nantucket thing). Very happy to have discovered this place. Thanks to Yelp! Friendly service (remember this is takeout). Very spicy (use the chart when ordering, my wife is not a spice person and thought even level 1 was spicy). They even have some traditional Chinese food offerings. The Generals chicken was good. Kids LOVED the hot and sour soup (with white rice). Thai food was excellent. Recommend the pad Thai. And our total bill was a very un-Nantucket $40! So when your wallet needs a short break, try out Siam! read more

So, it's the snack bar at the local ice skating rink. Except I think it only shares the kitchen with the snack bar. Very strange. Since there's little competition though for edible asian take-out, we took a risk. The quality was surprisingly decent. For these prices though and small portions, I'm not sure how often I'd order here. In my neighborhood in Boston, there must be about 20 thai restaurants. I'd rate this in the bottom third of those, with prices doubled. Before we ordered, we thought we'd get food poisoning since the location is so peculiar and there is so little info on it on yelp/online. So it exceeded our expectations in that regard. A place to go in a pinch when you're craving thai. Not sure I'd be a regular though. read more

Being from Thailand myself, I was skeptical about this place since it was in an ice rink but was I wrong...The food is delicious and very tasty. The ingredients they put into each dish might not make them the most authentic but the flavour of the food is pretty spot on. read more

This place gets 5 stars for (i) having excellent Thai food on an island where "Asian" food is totally bland/boring and (ii) being in a hockey ice rink. That's right - it is a takeout place in an ice rink. It was our last day on Nantucket and I was thoroughly sick of pizza, pasta, lobsters, etc. I was looking for some flavah. Luckily, we were in the area and found this place online. We had a really hard time finding the place (see: ice rink above) but luckily, two good samaritans helped us and we saw the "Siam to go" truck out front. There is no sign on the building itself. We were looking for a mid-afternoon snack so we ordered some apps/soups. The dumplings, spring rolls and crab rangoons were fresh and delish. The egg drop soup had lots of eggs (tho, not much else) but the hot & sour soup had a good variety of vegetables in it. All in all, a flavorful meal at a very cheap cost. This is Nantucket after all. We were looking for tasty, fast and easy to pick up takeout on-island. After ruling out all the pizza delivery with overpriced bad pizza we searched for Asian. To our surprise we found this incredible gem!! Not only are they super friendly but the food was made fast and it was fresh & absolutely delicious. We ordered without seeing a menu since they were about to close so with some quick guidance we ordered the pad Thai with shrimp & chicken combination & Red Curry with shrimp & chicken combo too. The veggies & proteins were super fresh and the flavors were spot on. This Thai food was better than our neighborhood go-to's in downtown Boston. Their location inside the Nantucket ice rink behind the high school is surely unusual but these guys know exactly what they are doing & it's super impressive to see what they can do with this small open kitchen. We will go here again. I have the menu now too! :) Tip: turn left into Muse pkg lot and just go all the way down the street until the end past all kinds of school bldg's & pkg lots to the ice rink-Thai deliciousness awaits; you will be so happy you did! read more

A great option for take-out Thai food on Nantucket! The restaurant staff/cooks are lovely and courteous and stayed open a few minutes late for us. Would definitely order from them again! read more

I got the shrimp stir fry and it was super delicious. Don't expect it to look like a fancy restaurant. It looks like a snack shack at an ice skating rink. There are picnic tables if you want to eat there and watch people skate though. read more

Between Thai house and this place it has to be the worst Thai food I've ever had I ordered Teryaki on the sticks and fried rice the Teryaki only came with three in the box and the were literally gods honest truth paper thin for 10$!!!... The rice was alright but had a hint of a weird taste altogether I paid 20$ for three pieces of teryaki that were thin as roast beef and rice that was trash... On top of all that the they forgot the duck sauce I asked for.... Do not want your money going there the food is trash and way over priced! read more
