My friend and I brought our daughters for dinner to celebrate the end of their senior year. We were warmly greeted by Rachel and offered a delicious traditional tea served with sugar cubes and dates. This was just the beginning of a dining experience that included family recipes and culinary traditions. We started with a delicious roasted cauliflower dish with almonds and raisins, grilled Romaine served over beet hummus, roasted beets with feta and strawberries and their signature hummus with Persian pickles. Every dish with colorful and full of flavor. We also had Merza Ghassemi which is an incredible eggplant spread served with the most incredible Barbari bread. For our entree, we shared the Chelow kebabs. A beautiful silver platter is filled with grilled and spiced meats -chicken, beef, and lamb- and perfectly grilled vegetables. The rice was also flavored with fresh herbs. There is a spice jar on the table of sumac, a Persian staple, which was suggested to enhance the flavors of the food. Everything was delicious and served with care. The staff is eager to help us experience and explore the flavors and food combinations. For dessert, we shared the best baklava that I have ever tasted. It was so flaky and filled with honey and nuts. Lemon Press is a wonderful dinner experience and should not be missed. All their meals are fabulous but there is something unique about sitting in candlelight, enjoying a Mediterranean dining experience with your friends and family that is truly special. read more

I've heard nothing but good things about Lemon Press and was so excited to try it when visiting the island. We had a great experience dining here. The staff were welcoming and kind. Our server even gave us a complementary bottle of their house made pucker up juice. She shared why she loved it and poured us each a glass. This was such a nice touch. The juice was delicious and you could taste the fresh beet juice and ginger. The pistachio matcha I had was perfectly made. Not too dark in color and flavored nicely. I loved the soup of the day with sourdough bread made by a local Nantucket baker. The Italian wedding soup was delicious and rustic in flavor. The overall presentation leaves a strong impression. Decent and serviceable food, but very much "the" hipster - tourist breakfast joint. During the season, that is, the tourist season the place is standing room only with hipsters from NYC and Miami and a large crowd outside. Prices are Nantucket. Worth the wait? Came a few times primarily for breakfast. We like their avocado toast, and scallop/lettuce wrap. Their bagels are way better than you'd get at most places in the Bay Area, but not as good as places you'd find in the East coast. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, which is comfortable, yet really nice for a casual breakfast. Service is good. Servers were nice and helpful, even as business started to pick up closer to noon. There are also a few grab and go items if you're in a hurry. There's definitely a good flow of business during breakfast, but it seemed that business really picks up at lunch, at least on days when we were there. Overall a bit pricey for what it is! The food was tasty, but would expect a bit more for what we paid. I got the gyro with chicken, was very fresh and the pita was delicious. Strolled into Lemon Press on Main Street and hit the perfect rhythm for a relaxed yet elevated breakfast session. We settled at the bar quick, seamless seating (no fuss) and the vibe was effortlessly cool and welcoming. They were only 15 minutes from closing and we didn't realize but they were super quick to ask us what to order and also give us recommendations so we could get food on time before they closed then they didn't rush us at all. Started with a strawberry smoothie and their "Vibrancy" cold-pressed juice -- both vibrant in flavor tasted great and refreshing after travel. We shared the hummus plate (generous quantity, fresh pita, clean flavors) which paired really well with our drinks. Everything arrived looking crisp, colorful, and just as good taste-wise as it looked. The space itself is full of character: the café is bright, brick-lined, and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of natural light and a modern yet cozy aesthetic. Being in the heart of downtown makes it the ideal spot for a destination breakfast or a casual cafe. Easy to pair with a morning walk, errands, or just a laid back place to hang and catch up with family/ friends, date etc. What really stood out: the consistency. From drink quality to food presentation to the seating experience, it all delivered. If I had to nitpick, I might say the bar seating can feel a little communal (not as private) but for the kind of visit we had it was perfectly suited. Was excited to try Lemon Press after seeing a lot of hype on social media. I tried the brown cinnamon latte, while others in my group got the detox latte, and matchas. My latte was ok, it wasn't as sweet as I usually like, but I tried a sip of the detox latte which was really good and sweet! It has charcoal in it which makes it look completely black, but it was good. The matcha wasn't bad, but I'm typically not a matcha person. We've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at this charming downtown Nantucket restaurant and although we love many things about the place, including the fact that it brings vastly underrepresented Persian flavors to this gringo island, the food is honestly just so-so by our standards. Cold pressed juices and cocktails are of excellent quality. The mixologist, Jonathan, is IMHO a genius and designed all of the beautifully made cocktails on the menu. He makes the house bloody Mary mix from scratch and it's potent + delicious! Wow! The decor -- heavy on dried and fresh flora -- is also absolutely lovely, as are the kind wait staff. As a few other Yelpers have noted, however, the food is generally just fine, not quite as good as one might expect for the pricing if one is a New Yorker: - Acai bowls at breakfast ($15.60): standard issue. You get three toppings of your choice and our strawberries, blueberries and granola were well received by the primary consumers. - Gyro with shaved lamb at lunch ($18.72): standard issue. This is the same processed meat you find at any street food stall in NYC, but it does come with some lovely hummus and veggies on a possibly house made pita. - Shrimp lettuce wraps at lunch (with poke sauce, pickled onion, bibb lettuce, radish, fried shallots; $18.72) were overcooked and cloyingly sweet, with sauces overwhelming whatever intrinsic flavors the shrimp may once have had. They were quite oily, as well. - Seared Scallops at dinner (red lentil, schug drizzle, sea beans; $29.64) did not come with any discernable sea beans, probably the ingredient I was most excited about having on the plate. I love and forage sea beans. Scallops were expertly prepared, seared brown on the outside, not overcooked on the inside. However, the red lentils (which seemed to me an odd addition to the plate and mainly present as an anchor for the scallops or additional roughage) were prepared in a very bland manner. I passionately love this ingredient when I use it as masoor dal, or when I incorporate it into Armenian dried apricot and red lentil stew. This was a preparation made without love. If we were just talking about schug and scallops, I'd be happy. - Joojey Kabab (Marinated chicken skewers, house pita, cucumber laban, onion soubise; $22.36) was a modest portion of chicken that had perhaps been marinated in something akin to tabasco sauce (I detected vinegar and chili spice) and not the traditional yogurt and saffron. It was a wee bit tough. The cucumber laban was lovely, the soubise less sweet, creamy and flavorful than the preparations we usually make at home or have at restaurants in NYC. (I have to assume that the onions were not properly caramelized and that thickening agents were used that are not in the traditional preparation.) - The chicken in the oven roasted chicken dish (za'atar and lemon on airline chicken breast, confit potatoes, charred broccolini, natural au jus; $46.80) was clearly of high quality: Textures and flavors indicated it was not factory farmed. Unfortunately, it was prepared in a very bland way, which did not do the animal justice. We do really enjoy airline chicken on the bone and think it retains its jus better than many other cuts, but one piece of chicken on the plate was quite pink and undercooked, a downside that is more likely with this cut. We did not send it back, knowing that we'd just reheat leftovers to the correct temperature the next day. (We're not the type to get freaked out by this kind of thing given that we enjoy torisashi in Japan.) Za'atar seasonings were only skin deep and everything on this plate was undersalted. - I didn't personally try The Burger (beef and lamb burger, harissa yogurt, pickled shallots, za'atar fries; ; $27.04), but it appeared to be juicy and the primary consumer ate it all. I have to assume it was good and/or he was hungry! The fries I poached from his plate were excellent. I'd go back for the inventive cocktails; the overpriced, but healthy, cucumber / ginger pressed juice drinks; and possibly the duck mezze for four. (I was mad at my family for refusing to go all in with me on the latter!) But for excellent Persian food, we are lucky to have our NYC standards and best of all, homemade dinners in a good friend's kitchen. read more

I recommend this spot for dine-in breakfast/lunch, especially for anyone with food allergies. The whole menu is labeled with modification options such as GFO or VO (gluten free/vegan optional). I learned from our server that they'll remove potentially cross-contaminated ingredients when opting for GFO, so depending on your sensitivity you can customize as needed. Many of their hot drinks either come with espresso or a shot can be added. The Golden Dust was my family's highlight-- my mom drank 3 during our 4-day stay. The Bees Knees is also delicious. I got that one iced/to-go at the front counter and the size was massive. Their Avocado Toast is great; the poached egg topper is a must. I ordered mine on gluten free bread, and the bread itself is thin-sliced/nothing to write home about, but the dish checked all boxes and beyond. I hate quinoa generally, but this toast was finely dusted with quinoa crunch and it made every bite better. The veggie blend comes sprinkled on top of everything instead of as a bed underneath. I especially enjoyed the microgreens, which are pretty common in Nantucket dishes. The Perfect Persian Parfait is delicious. The overall portion size looks small, but it's pretty filling as the cherry yogurt is creamy somehow. The berries were bursting! I picked up a gluten free zucchini/chocolate chip muffin to-go at the counter, and it must've been 500+ calories as the inside was completely chip filled. I recommend this only for dessert-- I ate every last crumb but could barely move after. This restaurant is Persian themed, and most of the staff comes from Bulgaria for the season with housing provided by the owner. Everyone's English is great and the service is A+. Walking in, seating looks limited, but they have a whole upstairs area including a retail section and restrooms. read more

I ordered an acai bowl with extra ingredients and it was brought out late and was missing the ingredients that I had requested. The espresso drinks were phenomenal, which isn't always the case at breakfast spots! But what really made it stand out was our server, Brittany.
