We saw a mix of folks come out - couples, lots of families, even some smaller business dinners in the back. We came in with a reservation, and they were able to seat us immediately - it was very busy during dinner hours, so not sure how long the walk in wait time was. We ordered the corn salad (this is definitely a skip for next time), kana moo krob (pork belly with chinese broccoli -- pretty good), and Tofu pad thai (excellent). Really enjoyed my first restaurant experience in Chicago in more than 12 years, at Siam Thai Eatery. It's a relatively straight and short walk from the Chicago Hilton. The food was excellent. The lighting decor and ambiance was beautiful. The service was very good, and the servers moved about quickly and efficiency. However, I felt like it was a bit too assembly-line and not as personable as it could have been for a restaurant that wasn't that busy at that hour. As a lifelong Thai cuisine fan, the service literally made us wonder if we stumbled at a bogus Thai restaurant. To call two of the waiters arrogant would not be an understatement. One showed some smile finally when we paid and tipped. In terms of ambience, it's nice. When it comes to food, I'd say the flavor of the tom yum is less than desirable. It could definitely use a lot more galangal and lemongrass, to actually be a tom yum soup rather than some really yummy bean paste soup as I tasted. But the prawn, squid and mussels were fresh tho. Saw this place on Chicago Today and wanted to try it. Friends and I went for lunch. It was delicious. The ambience is great. Our waitress was a dream. She was just attentive enough, but distant enough and had great suggestions. In addition to the posted pictures, we had the money bag dumplings, which were delicious. This review is for takeout via Uber Eats. So far I have tried the pad kee mao and pad kra pao, and both were amazing to me, if you enjoy those dishes. I love that they make their entrees with white meat chicken, and the ribeye add on is great, the steak was tender. My only minor complaint for Uber Eats is that you cannot adjust the spiciness (as I would've preferred both dishes to be a lot spicier) or leave order notes, but this does not take away from the flavor and quality of food. Would not recommend. Ordered crabmeat and organic chicken, and a few hours later, I had an awful case of upset stomach. i was going to the bathroom all night long. I am certain it was the food I ate here because o only had coffee and croissant that morning for breakfast and felt fine all day. The manager Heidi was rude and extremely unhelpful. Instead of apologizing and giving me a refund, she made things very difficult and said I needed to give her "proof of my sickness" from a hospital. I made repeated attempts to explain that I did not need to go to a hospital but she kept persisting that it has to go through insurance. Her English was extremely broken so it was very hard to communicate with her. She kept using AI to respond to me and when I asked her to stop using AI, she accused me of language discrimination because she is a Chinese immigrant and that I hurt her feelings. Super bizarre. Ordered a pad see ew to go, and it was completely different than the pad see ew I gave 5 stars to a week ago! Worse in every way. The sauce was completely different and lost any sweetness or complexity, the noodles were greasy, and the tofu were flavorless and soggy instead of the crispy tofu had last week. They lost my order and had to remake it, so I don't think getting it to-go affected it much because it went from the kitchen to my table in 5 mins. My wife and I saw this new Thai spot pop up in the South Loop and decided to swing by. This is their third location, and first one outside of the NYC metro area. Luckily they seem to be scaling things well while keeping the quality - everything was top notch during our experience. The service was outstanding and you can take management is spending a lot of time coaching staff and staying hands-on while they find their rhythm. Overall branding and decor is also extremely well done. Let's start with the standouts: 1. Coconut drink in a cool coconut! 2. While elevated and refined, our dishes were authentic. Even the way the soft shelled crab curry was done felt true to what you might find in Thailand. The flavors are well developed and textures interesting. The roasted organic chicken with Isan curry sauce, sticky rice, and papaya salad was also beautifully executed - simple yet full of flavor and authentic. My wife's duck red curry was similarly delightful - down the plump lychees floating in the rich sauce. 3. The shrimp & pork money bag dumplings were fun and tasty. A good approachable dish anyone can enjoy. 4. The Siam Dessert Set came with homemade ice cream, coconut pudding cups, and mango sticky rice. It was a nice sampling of everything and a fair portion. Despite not being in season, the mango sticky rice hit the spot. Definitely recommend this to share, but ask for a fork because I was fighting with the mango around the plate with a little spoon for way too long lol Some imperfections: 1. The Thai iced tea wasn't my favorite. I know it's a bit of an American novelty drink anyway, but I would've liked more tea. Flavor fell flat and was too milk-forward, although the crushed ice was nice. 2. The scallop crudo was too spicy. Some spice would be great but scallop is very delicate, and it wasn't balanced out. I'm excited to try the larb tartare next time instead. 3. This would've been impossible to know until they set the restaurant up, but the textures of the plates against the texture of the table was grinding. I know this is hyper-sensory and an extremely nitpicky thing to point out, but you genuinely feel like you're scratching the table every time you move a plate lol Overall, we'll definitely be back. Aside from GHIN KHAO, most of Chicago's good Thai food is on the north side and/or further out from the loop. It's good to have another well-polished but more authentic feeling option closer to us and the south side. read more

Siam Thai Eatery radiates sleek, modern elegance. I loved the color palette of the interior, as well as the placement of plants throughout the restaurant. The restaurant was very dimply lit, with each table having a small lamp as lighting. I came to eat at this restaurant with my grandmother, who complained that it was too dark to see anything, but I personally found no issues with the lighting. The staff was friendly and welcoming when we first got seated. The service was good, but not particularly outstanding. There were a few members in my party who were poor with spice, and it took a while for the water to be refilled in their glasses at times. For the price point, I was a bit disappointed in the flavor and authenticity of the food, but the presentation was beautiful: The Passion Fruit Margarita Mocktail and Blood Orange Mojito Mocktail were both great refreshing and zesty drink options. I was disappointed in the Seafood Tom Yum; the soup lacked depth and flavor, and while it didn't taste bland, it just tasted a bit dull and one-note. I felt similar sentiments for the Manila Clams, Papaya Salad, and the Siam Platter. The Duck Red Curry and the Tomahawk Short Rib Massaman Curry was decent. The red curry was very rich, smooth, and flavorful, but I wish the duck was more soft and tender. I would recommend the Pad Kra Pao and Pad See Ew. The Pad Kra Pao was well-seasoned and rich, and the Pad See Ew was spicy and smooth. The Pad Thai was also pretty good, but it wasn't particularly special. Lastly, the Mango Sticky Rice was good. The mango was ripe, but they cut it into really large pieces that made it hard to eat and further cut with just small spoons. read more

We had an incredible experience at Siam Thai Eatery. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was Lisa, and she was fantastic. She helped us pin point exactly what to order and we are grateful for it! The Ribeye pad thai was incredible and the crispy pork belly was amazing. I'm having a hard time deciding which one was my favorite because they were both delicious. The mango sticky rice is a must have as well to finish off your meal for dessert. The environment was chill and nice for date nights, business meetings, or birthdays as we saw each one of these groups enjoying their time there.
