The décor is so cute and it was fun to see a menu with some different options. I appreciate that they have the gluten free and dietary restriction/allergen information labeled, which was helpful in my decision making. We got the Pomelo Crab Salad and it was delicious! I visited Siam Thai Eatery on 03/04/2026 and was able to get a table without a reservation. The restaurant didn't seem very busy and we were seated right away, which was nice. We didn't order any alcoholic drinks, so this review is mainly about the food and service. To start, we ordered the soft shell crab mango salad. It came with a spicy lime dressing that tied everything together really well. The flavors were fresh, tangy, and a little spicy in a really good way. The soft shell crab was fried perfectly and had a great crispy texture that made the salad even better. For entrées, we ordered the Thai crispy chicken, which came with Thai sweet and spicy sauce, salad, and jasmine rice. The chicken had a really satisfying crunch and tasted great dipped in the sauce. We also ordered the crispy Khao Man Gai, which came with seasoned rice, cucumber, and radish soup. The radish soup was actually one of my favorite parts of the meal because it reminded me so much of the soup my mom used to make when I was growing up. It had that comforting, homey taste. I loved pairing the soup with the rice and honestly wish they offered the soup on its own because I would definitely order it. The chicken in this dish was fried perfectly as well. I've been back a couple of times now, (once for eat-in, once for carry-out), so it seems worth leaving an updated review. I think Siam Thai Eatery continues to shine on its more unique/special offerings. Most recently, we tried the Crab Curry with Roti, and it was scrumptious! The Crab and Pomelo Salad remains a favorite since our first visit, as do the Money Bag Dumplings, and I can't overstate how much I enjoyed the Duck Curry my first visit. All in all, it's still a great place to order a wide variety of dishes to share. That said, I found the noodles in the Pad Thai I recently had to be overcooked/broken, and the Roasted Organic Chicken was so overdone (guessing from roasting and reheating), that many pieces didn't have any discernible chicken meat left on them to eat. (It seemed we had a lot of cut up backbone pieces mixed in as well.) It is also a little tiring that we continue to be offered tiny plates with which to manage a number of appetizers and entrees. (We requested larger plates after all of the dishes arrived and got to about salad-sized plates.) One additional thing to note, the kitchen does seem to close well before the closing time identified on Google. We wanted to get some carryout on a Saturday night, and called ahead as we walked there to facilitate. We were told we had to get the order in immediately, even though it was still about ~40-45 minutes to close and we were approaching the front door of the restaurant. Upon entry, and seeing the restaurant about half full of diners, we were still pressured to forego a menu to complete the order. We got our food boxed and ready to go in about 5 minutes and were out the door, but honestly the experience was a bit frustrating. It would be good to make kitchen closing times more clear via online information if applicable. All of that said, I still think this is an objectively great Thai place, and a gem if you're in the neighborhood. Just some nits for improvement. read more

This place opened not too long ago. I went when they first opened as well as today! I don't think they've quite nailed the consistency of their foods yet. I've noticed the foods are slightly different as well as color of curry. For more context, there was quite a number of flies and unfortunately one landed in our curry crab dish. They remade it but I noticed the color of the curry dish was lighter & spicier than before. It was still pretty delicious despite the inconsistencies! The pad Thai was lacking flavor and leaned on the drier side. I was a little disappointed because I looove pad Thai. The papaya salad, on the other hand, was refreshing and citricy and packed with bold flavors. I highly recommend getting the Siam platter sampler. You get to try four different apps and lowkey filling too. I also enjoyed the mango sticky rice! One of my fav desserts of all times and this place has one of the best in Chicago. Came here the other day for dinner and had a good experience. We waited around 8 minutes for a table after our reservation, but we were served immediately. The inside was bustling when we came for a 6:30 dinner which was a good sign, and the interior is well decorated. We started with the grilled pork jowl which was absolutely delicious, juicy, and the sauce that came with it was perfect. I got the chicken pad Thai which was good, my sister got the ribeye basil and it was pretty spicy but a good dish also. Portions were huge, we had enough for leftovers. Our server forgot our hibiscus lemonades, but comped one for us for the inconvenience which was nice. The service seemed overwhelmed and like they were running around, I know this place is new but I can tell they're still working our kinks. My friend and I met up at Siam Thai Eatery located in the South Loop. We made a reservation for 1:30 PM on a Friday, and there were quite a few tables available at that time. Despite it being non-rush hour with open tables, the host asked us to wait at the bar until our full party arrived. Therefore, it is wise to ensure everyone arrives on time, or you will not be seated. The decoration of the restaurant is Modern, it is clean and spacious. Four of us were assigned to one of the booths. Drinks We all ordered the Thai iced tea. It was standard in flavor -- not overly sweet. Appetizer Grilled Pork Jowl - Each thin slice of pork shoulder was juicy and flavorful. Paired with the chilled oils, it elevated the richness of the pork. Mains Duck Curry - We ordered the bone-in duck curry, they have the boneless option as well. The curry was savory and came with bell peppers and diced pineapple. Highly recommended. Chicken Green Curry - The curry base was flavorful. However, the chicken pieces lacked seasoning, which was a slight downside. Crab Fried Rice - This dish was outstanding. You could find thin strands of crab meat throughout the rice. I could feel the wok heat was well-controlled, resulting in great texture and flavor. The lime on the side was optional and added a refreshing sour note. Shrimp Pad Thai - This was the one dish that i am not satisfied with. Unlike the typical Pad Thai I had in Thailand, this version had an unusual sour flavor in the noodles. It tasted somewhat like pickled seasoning, which I did not enjoy at all. I hope the restaurant reviews this dish and considers adjusting the recipe. All in all, my experience at Siam Thai Eatery was very positive. I highly recommend the duck curry and the crab fried rice. I dined at Siam Thai Eatery for a late lunch on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 1:30 pm. The restaurant has a unique classy feel with the gold tones accentuating the dark blacks and overhanging greenery. The restaurant was a dimly lit. I honestly thought it looked closed because of how dark it was and how very few diners there were inside. I was very pleased with the authenticity of the food here. The money bag dumplings had a nice presentation and it was evident that the dumplings were wrapped meticulously. They tasted flavorful with its simple plum sauce. The pad kee mao had that nice smoky char flavor that is an indication of a very authentic Thai restaurant. The noodles were spicy but oh so delicious. Service was excellent. This newly opened restaurant serves some creative Thai food. Went there for dinner last week. Lots of people were waiting at the entrance but I was lucky enough to get a seat for one without waiting. I ordered the Duck curry and Summer Roll. The summer roll was basically shrimp, cucumber, mango, carrots, cabbage sliced and wrapped in Vietnam rice paper. Ingredients were fresh. There was too little mango and too much cucumber which made it a bit watery. I tried bone in duck for the Duck curry dish. It was huge, and I enjoyed its sweet-sour taste from the mango and lychee in it. The duck meat itself was, however, not tender enough. They should have pre-cooked the Duck for less time. I guess bone less version would be better. I hope the restaurant can pay more attention to the details of their dishes. Besides, service was good. I was searching for a mango sticky rice as good as the ones I had in Thailand and this spot measures up. Their filet mignon fried rice is enough to feed two or have leftovers. I order it at least once a month. As always, you must order a Thai tea. The venue is very instagrammable and perfect for celebrating special occasions. I celebrated finishing my chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer here. The food was delicious. My dad who is a picky eater even ate outside of his comfort zone. Like on the comment card we shared in the restaurant, I'd suggest putting a bar at the bottom of the bathroom door so you can open it with your foot instead of your hands. As someone who has to avoid germs, that would be helpful. My sister also said that the pineapple rice would be better with pineapple chunks in it. So far the rice is just brought out in half a pineapple. It's an appealing presentation but the taste could be improved. Had reservations for this place at 5pm on a Sunday. I was running late, but my friend got here and checked in. I believe they said they'd just sit us when I arrived. I was about 15 minutes behind, but they sat us immediately. When we were there it wasn't too busy, but over the course of the next few hours it filled up pretty quickly. We had great wait staff the entire night including our main server, Donovan, who took care of us greatly. Since they are BYOB currently, we brought a few Soju bottles and they were kind enough to provide us shot glasses as well as a bottle opener even though we didn't need that one specifically. We ordered a satay chicken skewer starter which was very good. We were both very happy with that recommendation from the server. We also ended up getting the pad kee mao and the red duck curry (boned in) and they were both delicious. I think I liked the red duck curry the most though. I typically love pad kee mao, but I wouldn't rate it super high here or necessarily get it again here. I was a bit bummed that the pad kee mao also did not live up at all to the spice level that is indicated on the menu. It showed two thai chilis next to it which one would think would make it spicy, but we did not notice any difference at all. We had to ask for some chili paste and chili powder to add to it unfortunately. They were great about water refills and checked on us often ensuring a great experience here. We also really liked the atmosphere here. The lighting is a bit dimmer and great for a date or catching up with friends/family. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area. I came here on a solo date on a Friday, I had a reservation however, at 5p/6p I did observe plenty of open seating for potential walk-ins. The staff was friendly and efficient, as was the service. I received my food hot and fresh shortly after ordering. As for the food, YUM YUM YUM. For starters I got the curry crab which came accompanied by pita. So creamy and such bold curry flavor, with fried crab. I couldn't put it down. For my main I ordered Pad Kee Mao with ribeye. Amazing with tender beef, amazing spice that was not too overpowering with yummy tender flat noodles. A star of the show, for sure. Since seeing reels of Siam Thai Eatery on social media, I put it at the top of my list of restaurants to try! I called in this morning (Monday) to make reservations just in case. The reservation was for 6p and the restaurant wasn't even half full, but by 7:30p, every table was taken. Ordered a Thai tea as my drink, but it was a little too sweet for my taste. For starters, I ordered the spicy pomelo crab salad and the pork jowl. The spicy pomelo crab salad was excellent! Very spicy with lots of Thai chilis. My only complaint is that this appetizer was so small! The pork jowl was grilled perfectly. There was a smoky smell and taste that I really enjoyed and the sauce was so tasty, perfect combination of tart, sweet, umami and fish sauce-y. For entrees, I ordered the crispy duck curry and the kana moo krob (crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli). The crispy duck curry was very flavorful, seasoned perfectly. I also love that there were pineapple chunks and lychee in it! The kana moo krob was my least favorite dish from the meal. When this dish is offered at any restaurant, I ALWAYS order it. It's hands down my favorite Thai dish. So to my surprise, I didn't really like it here. It was too sweet and too salty. Usually the sauce is lighter which is what I'm used to and what I like. Unfortunately this is a dish I will skip next time. I do plan on returning to try all the noodle dishes and more appetizers! Overall, a great addition for Chicago/ South Loop! read more

We hit this spot after a quick change of plans and a desire for some good Thai food. This was a spot that we hadn't visited, but figured we'd give it a try on a Friday night. We had no reservation and arrived about 630. Luckily we got a table without waiting, but I did ask and was told a reservation is always safer. we tried a bunch of different dishes and they were also tasty. Not "amazing" but very very good. The portion sizes were "solid" and we left without any leftovers (we usually have some when we go out) The Siam platter was pretty good. I'm not a fan of chicken thighs, so the skewers weren't my favorite. The money bag dumplings were easily my favorite and I'd just order these. The chive pancake was gooey/ sticky and not great. The fried roti was good. the dipping sauces (4) were tasty... The red curry was subtle but good. We did it with tofu (not on menu). The portion was good. it could have used a bit more sauce. As it was a little dry. the pad see ew was a reco from our server. we would have done the rice or pad Thai. It was good, but not nearly as flavorful as I'd hoped. I wouldn't order than next time. WE ate the mango sticky rice the next day, so it's not fair of me to share my take here. There was a lot of mango though. The papaya salad wasn't as good a lot of other ones we've had elsewhere. read more
