This was a perfectly fine Thai place for a small Colorado town. After a long day on the mountain, we were just craving some spicy Thai. And they definitely make their food spicy. Spicy is definitely hot for those who love really hot food. The extra spicy was just a bit too much for us, but all of that food was gone by the end of the night. Bummed that they don't have a website so you can see their menu. Makes ordering for delivery not possible for the non-locals. So I was the designated pick up person, who showed up the place, took photos of the menu, and sent images to my friends to decide. The food came out quick, and the bartender was super friendly. A great treat after a day on the mountain. We order the Tom Yum with shrimp and the banana curry. After being very cautioned about the level of spiciness we ordered medium level. However, I found it to be pretty mild. The soup was well flavored and very delicious, but there were only a few shrimp. It came in a traditional pot with a flame in the center. Don't understand the rudeness of hostess and waitstaff. You are in the service industry and I am paying for food and experience. We loved everything about telluride until we came here. Will never go again and can't believe other people show up to eat here. Just awful. Food is alright but the staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. For the 0.72% Asian population living in Telluride (based on 2000 US Census data), the flavors of Siam bring a taste that is a home away from home. As a native from California, Thai food is not rare and a cuisine that I can pick across the street from three different restaurant. Yes, I'm spoiled. However, in Telluride, Asian fare is hard to come by- one of my friends almost slapped me when I jokingly said I could get good ramen across the street in SF when she has be dreaming about it in Telluride for months. With this high demand, getting a table at Siam was difficult - they only allow call-aheads the day of, and require that you call ahead after 4pm. Even after calling at 5pm on Sunday, we couldn't get a table until 9pm. We tried again on Tuesday, at 4pm sharp, and managed to get a table for 7 at 5:30pm. The food was actually pretty good. It's hard to get these ingredients into Telluride - my friend and I tried looking for lemon-grass at a local store to no avail. I had the "King and I", which consisted of Duck &Shrimp skewers for ~$30. It was a bit pricier than the $10 Thai food that I'm normally used to, but I wasn't disappointed. Their menu also had an extensive offering of other asian (non-Thai) food - such as Mango Lassis and Asian fusion. I took a risk with the Mango Lassi ($5) and didn't enjoy it at all - there wasn't a trance of yogurt in it (like traditional Lassi should have), but instead tasted like juice from a concentrate. We also had a few crispy appetizers (crab ragoon), and they were good - 4/5! The ambiance was also adorable - it is decorated with Thai statues and relics, and the tables have Thai money beneath the glass. For a small town, Telluride has some awesome dining options. Siam is no exception. Lively spot with a large menu. Good for a big group for a fun night out. We had a lot of laughs here that may or may not have had to do with the weird personality of our waiter or our own intoxication. The only thing I remember eating were the dumplings and the whole fried fish with red curry sauce. Both were awesome, especially the whole fish. I definitely recommend that. This is clearly the best Thai food in town. Ask anyone, the locals, visitors, etc. Even when asking a generic question to them, "what's the best restaurant in town," "Siam" is almost invariably on the top of their list. We were only in town two nights, and loved Siam so much after the first night that rather than trying to best the best, we went back to the best the second night and had an equally great time/food! A total of 6 dishes, and amazingly, all 6 were nothing less than marvelous. The jungle curry was spectacular. The Ahi Tuna was amazing. The fun noodles were very good. The only thing we wouldn't order again were the mini-wraps ($11.95 for 3 very small wraps served in a martini glass-great flavor but too small for the price). The rest were priced fairly. We had great service. Sat inside one night and outside the other. For some reason, places in Telluride don't seem to have air conditioning...Siam was extremely hot inside, even at 8pm, but don't let that deter you - as the hostess said, "it makes it even more authentic!" There was some amazing reggae music on the patio one night. The owner stopped by our table the next - he's got a great story so if you get a chance to meet him, be sure to ask him! If you're going to Telluride, like Thai food, and don't eat at Siam (especially at the BEGINNING of your trip), you're crazy. read more

This place was good, but given all of the culinary options in Telluride, I don't know if I would return. The service was so scattered and odd. The hostess was on another planet and our server was completely frazzled. It was a Friday night and the place was full but I didn't think that was so out of the ordinary given the popularity of this place. We ordered a large Kirin but he said they were out and only had Sapporo. So we ordered that. He came back 5 minutes later and said they were out of that too. No asian beers. Kind of weird. The crab dumplings (sorry- do not know the thai name- some sort of ko-lee-jeep or something) were DELICIOUS. Well stuffed and worth it. We tried ordering some shrimp spring rolls but the server said they were probably out of that too. (We were there at 7:00- not exactly late night dining.) We split the basil chicken stir-fry and I thought it was good. We went medium on the spice but I didn't find it spicy at all for a thai place. If you're into spice, definitely go with hot or extra hot. One more thing- we sat outside because the inside was HOT. No air flow at all. read more

Siam will be a great memory of our visit to this beautiful town. We went to the Bluegrass Festival and had dinner at Siam on Saturday night. The small restaurant was very busy and we had to wait for a table. The wait was pleasant enough with a drink on the front steps in the cool Colorado evening listening to the live music. Our waitress was from Thailand and was more than happy to discuss the extensive menu with us. She approved of our choices and talked about Thailand with us. I had a wonderful "Crispy Duck in Red Curry Sauce", my daughter (7 years old) had "Pad Thai with Squid", my son (11 years old) had "Beef with Green Curry" and my lovely wife had something else that I can't recall right now. We ate family style and all of us were groaning in delight and nodding our heads, smiling as we tried all the dishes. Everything was wonderful. The atmosphere is fun and quite intimate. This was our second visit to Siam. It was a festival weekend and they were very busy. The service was a bit slow, but they tried hard. No matter, the food & flavors were great. We had the Handwraps as an appetizer, then Veggie Stir Fry & Curry. We asked for it hot. But, think there must have been a miscommunication because this food CRAZY SPICY! Honestly, this was THE hottest Thai food we've ever eaten. We really like spicy and add Sriracha hot sauce to everything. But, by the time we got only about halfway through the food at Siam, we were totally sweating... and we were sitting outside on a chilly night! Yet as I said, the flavors were great. Every time we thought about quitting because it was so hot, we go back for another flaming bite. Gosh, talk about getting your endorphins going! I will start off by saying that I have tasted a lot of Thai food in my years, some even actually in Thailand. I have also eaten great Thai food in the San Francisco Bay area and also Seattle. So when we visited this restaurant we had high expectations. We started with the fried spring rolls which were ok. We then also ordered the pad Thai which was actually pretty good. The Penang Curry seemed a bit too watered down and did not have enough of that distinct coconut flavor. So overall we left with full bellies, but did not think it was worth the price tag for the quality that we got. I don't think we'll be back. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I called at 4 to put my name on the list since there were no more reservations available. Before I hung up, I said "see you later" and the hostess rudely said "Maybe I won't see you later." After 3 hours and no update from Siam, we personally went to the restaurant to follow up and ask if there was a change in status. The restaurant wasn't able to accommodate us inside and offered an approximate 1 hour wait which would require all 8 people in the party to stand there for the entire time. When we asked about take out, the same rude hostess promptly said "Mmmmmm no we're too busy" without even bothering to check in with the kitchen or manager. I moved to Colorado from the east coast to be around people with positivity and good attitudes. However, when you walk in the door and a table is empty you will be told you can't be seated because they are totally booked till after 9pm. We just wanted to thank everyone at Siam for a great night last week. We came as a large group - 4 adults and 4 kids for an early dinner. Our son has Celiac Disease so it is important that if we go out the restaurant understands the concerns for a safe, Gluten Free meal. He also has a severe nut allergy. Sounds like an impossible task for a Thai restaurant? "Not a problem," I was assured by Molly. She took great care of us, easing our concerns and fears. We had one of the best Thai meals ever - I had the Yellow Curry and my wife had a fantastic noodle dish. The Tom Yum soup was perfect. If you want to eat at Siam Thai, you have to call at 4pm when they open and request to be put on the list. They do not accept "reservations", but they do take your name down for the time you would like to eat on that day. They also don't have call waiting, so your best bet if you're dying to eat here is to stop by the restaurant on your way back from the slopes and put your name down in person. The food is fantastic and there are countless options with a creative flair (Siam hand rolls!) that make this restaurant an experience you can't miss. read more

I was extremely surprised at how pretty good their food tasted for a town with a small Asian population. My cousin took us here around 9:30 pm and there was still a crowd of people. I can't imagine how busy it must be during peak times. Our waitress was really nice and always came by to help us with our orders. We ordered crab ragoons, a variety of wraps, tom yum, pad see ew, and curry. There were 4 different kinds of wraps and my favorite one was the mango and salmon filled with rice. My favorite dish of all of the night was the tom yum which is this spicy and sour soup with mushrooms and shrimps. We ordered a large bowl so there was enough for two rounds for a group of 4 people. The curry and pad see ew were decent, not as greasy as a lot of places. From what I've been told, the pricing here isn't as bad for Telluride. We had dinner here last Friday night and it was stellar. We walked in around 6 pm with no reservation, the hostess sat us in the back by the kitchen which put me in a wary state. The water and waitress came quickly so that was a plus. The menus is creative and had many dishes I had not seen offered at any Thai restaurant before. We asked the waitress for her suggestions as we were first timers and she was very helpful and enthusiastic. We ordered the duck special curry and steamed fish in garlic ginger sauce. Food was superb, duck was crispy and curry sauce out of this world. Fish perfectly cooked and sauce was light and flavorful. Broccoli was cooked perfectly. Super friendly staff and excellent food. Cally for a long time so that's hard to say with confidence). They've a "porch special" for those eating prior to 6:15 PM that is incredible and the locals know it. Hands down best thai food i've ever tasted! We started off with an appetizer called the "Nippple Platter". It was an appetizer with everything (steamed dumplings, cream cheese wontons, chicken satay, and spring rolls). That alone was perfect for the both of us. I ordered the duck with the volcano sauce (LOVE IT.) They LITERALLY presented the dish to me while it was on FIRE. and my husband ordered the drunken noodles with fried tofu. It was absolutely amazing. My only complaint is how slow it may get because of how PACKED they are in this restaurant. They are always busy but the wait will definitely pay off in the end. I recommend calling in around 4:30 ish to be on the waiting list because they DO NOT take reservations. So I think Siam is a little closer to 3 1/2 stars, but ill bump it up to 4 because the service was good and I actually really enjoyed most of what I've got. I've been Telluride four times now and I've always wanted to go to Siam...finally got to go this trip. Unfortunately I wasn't hungry enough to spend $20something on the drunken noodles. I started off with the bitter mango cocktail. It was soooooo amazing!!!! I love Campari and this tasted exactly like a bitter mango haha. We also ordered a bowl of the seafood Tom Kha. The fish (shrimp, mussels, scallops) were seriously overcooked, BUT the broth was amazing and the mushrooms were yummy. The presentation of the dish was also gorgeous and fun! I think next time I'll just get a different type of protein (maybe tofu?). My boyfriend got one of the duck curries for his dish. It was HUGE! He really liked it a lot. I tried a taste and thought it was pretty good but not my favorite duck curry. I also got the roti appetizer which was awesome! The roti was nice and soft and flaky! I could have eaten 3 orders of the stuff. Ill definitely be back to try the drunken noodles when I'm a little hungrier and to get the Tom Kha (not seafood) and the roti again. Fantastic Thai cuisine. Giant menu to meet any palate. I enjoyed the Choo Chee curry with shrimp while my husband loved his pad Thai. Spring rolls were a great starter. We sat at the bar and received excellent service from the bartender/owner. Very authentic flavors. We will definitely return the next time we are in Telluride! Very good Thai. My husband and I sat on the porch. They have a special happy hour menu outside where you can get a drink and app/ noodle dish/ small portion entree for a reduced price. Reasonably priced for telluride. I have the mango miso salmon which was great and my husband had the masaman curry with chicken. It had a different spice than the masaman I'm used to, but was super addictive. Tables are cramped. Overall, definitely recommend. read more
