Kazahana Dessert Box (Sampler)

This was my first time dining at Kazahana and it certainly will not be my last. Kazahana Is a perfect quaint restaurant settled beautifully in Telluride town. With delicious food and friendly service this place hits on all accounts. Their sashimi in particular was delicious. And the dessert box was to die for. Staff had good recommendations, and were knowledgeable. Overall a great time!

Came here during a trip to Telluride and booked this restaurant for our final dinner in town. We loved the ambiance, especially being led to this secluded sushi bar in the bottom and way back of the restaurant. It elevated the overall experience. The server and chef were knowledgeable, pleasant, and professional. I enjoyed each course, and my favorites were the fried scallop, black cod, and nigiri with uni and caviar. My only complaint is the rice was cold for all of the nigiri courses. Price tag is $200, and there is a 4% employee health charge on top, so it comes out to nearly $300 with tip.

We had a great experience, mainly because Kevin, our bartender was super helpful with the menu and very friendly. We did not have a reservations, but they were able to seat us at the bar, which was lovely. The atmosphere is really nice, clean, classy, and it was fun to watch the chef make our sushi. We ordered the chef's special roll and a spicy tuna roll, and of course, paired it with a fantastic sake. The shrimp dumplings were also pretty good.

One of the best Japanese restaurants anywhere. A real asset to telluride. Friendly wait staff and chefs. Onikase experience is amazing also.

Not a single item here was worth the outrageous prices. I understand we were up in the mountains in tourist land where fish was probably hard to import but it was obvious this was a money gouging establishment. The food was decent but I've had better sushi in Denver for a FRACTION of the cost. We had a table of four and we had a couple drinks, and all of these rolls you see pictured. The bill was over $400 dollars and none of us left full on r satisfied and we had to go someplace else to eat after because we were still hungry but didn't feel like dropping an extra couple hundred bucks to satisfy our hunger.

Really good sushi! Fresh fish, sushi rice is on point! Pleasant surprise as I didn't expect such a good quality sushi restaurant in the middle of 'nowhere'. Chef is from Japan! Another huge plus on my book! Small space, make sure you call ahead for resos or get on their virtual wait list.

Of all the sushi places I've been to in the world this is a top 3 for me. You'd never expect to get the best sushi you've ever had in the middle of the mountains of Colorado but let me tell ya, it's incredible. Amazing happy hour, great menu options for those who don't love raw fish, and an incredible staff. This is a must for us every time we come to town.

Very small restaurant inside although there might be tables hidden somewhere in the basement based on some rumors I heard. The food was delicious and we sat up at the bar. It was interesting watching the chefs cut up the fish and make the rolls. There was a bit of an issue with the bill, but I think it got worked out. The girls working there were super friendly and having a good time. The male server was a bit more on edge.

We had an interesting unplanned visit dinner at Kazahana and were positively surprised. Fresh toro flown from Japan with a Japanese sushi chef who was part of the Nobu founding team. There is a lot to love here. The fish is fresh and the presentation is authentic. The Ottoro was to die for. The service was attentive and to the point. The ambiance is feutre, sophisticated with a touch of zen inspiration. We plan to be back for the Omakase (Japanese: お任せ,) which is a Japanese phrase, used when ordering food in restaurants, that means 'I'll leave it up to the sushi chef (from Japanese 'to entrust' (任せる, makaseru). We recommend this restaurant as part of the ought to visit for the HBS wine and Cuisine society! A note of disappointment we were there for a birthday and nothing was done for it. Overall we also found the pricing on the expensive side. I hope they will think about this as we are entering a real recession.

My fave is the Dynamite Roll (shrimp tempura, cream cheese topped with jalapeno, sriracha, masago, spicy mayo and eel sauce)...seriously...it's DYN-A-MITE!!!! Always get the edamame...reg or spicy (prefer the spicy but both are good!). Recently ordered the chicken fried rice and it was so delicious! The wine makes us happy because they provide a generous pour for your money unlike many other local restaurants. Bottom line, the food is fresh and incredible...service is always impeccable! But the real 5+ stars about Hiro is all about the owners and staff. They are professional and kind (with a lovely touch of humor) and ALWAYS make you feel like you're an extension of their family. Sometimes hero's don't always wear capes, because the real Hiro's here lie within the strong bond and passion this family has for their restaurant. You know how much I love to support local businesses and this is no exception...Howard and his wife Dewi offer a unique and quintessential restaurant that is much needed in our community. Highly recommend so be sure to Check them out!

Overwhelmed by food. Underwhelmed by service…read more A bartender where we had dinner recommended this place for after dinner drinks. When I saw some of the menu I wanted to try a couple of things. The deviled egg sounded intriguing & I saw the lemon cake was GF. The deviled egg came out like something you would see at a Michelin starred restaurant. The deviled egg was served in the eggs shell with a custard at the bottom and egg white foam on top. It tasted just like a deviled egg but super unique. The lemon cake was great too. My drink was like a vesper with grapefruit flavors, it was really good. I love how the space is very warm and cozy like you'd see at a mountain resort, a fireplace, couch, etc. What was underwhelming was the service, it just didn't measure up to the food, drinks and ambiance. We had to walk up to the bar to get our waters filled so it felt kind of self service, like you had to get up and ask for things. Mind you, there were 4 people seated there including us. And when I asked what made the lemon cake GF the bartender said he'd go & ask the kitchen but he said no one was there so he didn't know so I rolled the dice & ordered it anyways. I still would come back just not expect great service.

Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared. The balance of flavors really stood out, and it was clear that care went into both the taste and the presentation of the food. My order was also prepared in a timely manner. I've eaten at many restaurants in Durango and haven't encountered this kind of undisclosed fee elsewhere. The food was delicious, but hidden fees made for a bad first impression. Overall, I'd give the service a 3/5 for the rudeness , and hidden & undisclosed fee. The chicken ramen was basic, but had rich broth and a nice assortment of veggies. Service was quick as it is a smaller restaurant so plan ahead.
