I am a huge fan of his Thai restaurant. Great ambience, awesome service, good size portions, and most of all amazing food. My recommendations are the tom khan soup (if you get the pot it comes out in a cool serving dish with some fire) and the green curry with friend tofu. I honestly cannot figure out why people think this place is any good. It's nowhere close to being even decent Thai food. Our dinner got off to a bad start when we were seated at a two-top with 10" between our table and the tables to the left/right of us. The waiter had to stand behind my husband while talking to us/taking our order because there wasn't enough room for him to stand between the tables and properly address him. He began by apologizing for seating us in cramped quarters. In other words he knew it was sucky but thought if he apologized for it, then it became OK. After about 5 minutes my husband and I could no longer carry on a conversation with each other because it was so loud. We are not old people, we moved to Colorado from NYC, and have been to our fair share of loud places but this place was over the top. Our drinks took 20 minutes. Normally we're good for 2-4 drinks per person but we called it quits after 1. Our apps took another 15 after the drinks. The spring rolls' rice paper was hard when they finally got to our table. I make spring rolls and can attest that hard rice paper is due to the rolls sitting out for a prolonged period. They must've run out of curry because the curry puffs were nothing more than bland mashed potatoes shaped like dumplings and deep fried. Gross. The tamarind dish was supposed to be medium spicy and was barely mild. Not a tamarind flavor to be found either. I barely ate it, it was so gross. The green curry was acceptable but we ordered it as hot spicy and again wasn't even passable as mild. Bland for curry. I ordered white rice and the waiter brought me brown rice. Under any other circumstance I wouldn't have cared but this was just the culmination of crappiness. I'm also always good for dessert on vacation but we could not get out of there fast enough. We ran to Baked in Telluride to grab cake before they closed and that cake was the best part of our dinner. Hard pass! read more

Don't listen to the naysayers. This place is great. We are staying across the street and were so happy to have this option. Because it's busy and popular we put in a to-go order. We read the website, which warned about wait times so we put our order in way early. It was ready a little earlier than anticipated and was kept warm until we picked it up. The food was really delicious--Tom Kha, the curry puffs, mango curry, and pad Thai. Portions are very generous and we have enough for two dinners. We had dinner here last night, I'm sure locals miss the old funky version but we had had enough not great experiences that we had quit going. So we tried it again under the new ownership, the setting is more appetizing maybe I should use the word fresh! The price is by far one of the best deals in Telluride, the staff and even the chap at the door were lovely. Everything everyone ordered tasted wonderful, was the right temperature, generous portions and very fresh. I had a tasty martini with Telluride vodka. We came in just on time , they open at 5 pm and we got seated right away. Lady told us it's gonna be safer next time to call in and get a table reservation other ways they get full pretty quickly. She wasn't kidding , 20 min later there was a line outside. We got very lucky. Drinks were great and strong , I could only handle one cucumber basil martini. Not sure where to start but I'm quite disappointed in this place starting with Tom Ka soup which was very sweet. I ordered Pad Thai which was way over priced and music was so loud I couldn't have a simple conversation with my girlfriend. Anyway our bill was over $66 which included 2 cups of soup and 2 Pad Thai. I don't think food was worth of $66 it was just ok, I've had much better Thai food for way less money. P. S every time someone walks in or walks out of the door, the door would slam very loud which was not pleasant. Overall I would not recommend this place. read more

We've ridden by this place for years, but never stopped in when we visited Telluride. Always a huge line, so they are clearly doing something right... This time, we struck early, right as they opened, to see what the hype was all about it. We were lucky and were able to get a great table on their very tight patio. Tried a few appetizer specials, which come with a beer. Outstanding. Moved onto hand rolls and tuna. Fantastic, and the tuna was an incredible cut. Crazy they get fish this good so deep in the mountains. Service was good, and conversation with our server as well as some other tables was fun. Lots of cool people to chat with in Telluride. We will definitely be back. I wouldn't wait an hour or more to get a seat, but I would definitely recommend giving it a shot if you get there early. read more

You may wait a bit for your food to arrive, but pretty much everything is made from scratch and is DEFINITELY well worth the wait. 5. Incredibly tasty Thom Yum Gai, tasty chicken Satay. I dined opening night 2018, after Siam Telluride underwent a significant remodel under new ownership, and I'm happy to say this local staple is better than ever. Same authentic, delicious Thai Food, same Thai staff and chefs, but a much-needed facelift of decor and service. If you had a bad experience in the past, I'd urge you to give it another go with the new owners, who formerly owned The Llama in town. The Drunken Noodles, Curry Puffs, Crispy Duck with Choo Chee Curry, and Thom Ka Soup were our favorites. Called to make sure they were open. No answer and recording said they don't answer the phone so text them. In the mean time, their online ordering went live at 4:15 so we placed an order and received a time back to pick up order. Arrived at Siam and they looked closed. We tried to get ahold of them. There was no sign out front saying they were closed, just a dark restaurant with the table still set up outside where you pick up your to-go order. We waited for 20 minutes trying to reach them and figure out if they were open but dark in the front. We didn't want to have them make a to-go order than not pick it up. Their web site to take orders still goes live everyday, confirms orders, and assigns a pick up time despite the restaurant being closed. What a waste of our family's time. read more

I'm fixin' to become the Duke of Siam in just this one trip to Telluride. For serious. I'd eat here three times a day except they don't open till 5pm. Which begs the question, "What do Thai folks eat for breakfast anyway?" Wouldn't matter. It could be ANYthing from Siam's menu and I'd throw it down at 8am! (Banana curry immediately comes to mind). This place is ridiculous. If you want to wait for two hours to eat, come here. Our reservation was at 7, we weren't seated until 7:30, and we didn't get our food until 8:30. We noticed that everyone around us had already gotten their food, and when we asked our waiter about when our meal would be coming, he said to be patient because the kitchen was small. The food was good (especially nipple platter and Thai iced tea) but not worth the poor service and the long wait.Not to mention it's almost impossible to get a reservation here -- since they don't do reservations. 5 stars for food 1/2 star for service. This is about the 9th time I've eaten here. Service is 3 stars at its best. I have had aggravating service 4 times. 2 times servers were not sensitive to food allergies and I ran home to my Benadryl. 2 other times we felt super lucky to get any part of our tables order--because the server brought something similar-yet not what we ordered. This last time I got attitude from the waiter and floor manager b/c I brought a discrepancy on my bill to there attention. They were upset with me that I questioned their math. I get it- I do suck at math--bit, they sucked more and were wrong. Geez just re add and talk to me about it! They acted like I am so, so dumb. Rude. Frosting on the cake?...before the bill debacle we purchased a 40.00 gift certificate for our friends that love this place and obviously have a high tolerance for s&@-tty service- They gave us a used plastic card worth 40.00 but card said 100.00 (hand written i.e. Used). They crossed it out with a sharpy and wrote 40.00. Lovely presentation. With that said, the hand rolls are amazing. But, I have decided, not worth the aggravation. I'm finished. We went on a crowded evening just two of us and were willing to wait for a table. We asked the host how long it would be and she rolled her eyes and said "tomorrow" in a very condescending voice. I worked as a host and was completely aghast at her rudeness. I sent the following email to the owners AOL account a week ago with no response: "Dear Siam Ownership, We live in Viking Lodge right across from Siam and have eaten there/ordered from there 3 times. Tonight, we ordered take out that you said would be 30-45 minutes. We called back 45 minutes later and you unapologetically said they hadn't put our order in yet. That it would be at least 15 more minutes- so we finally picked up dinner and hour and change after ordering it. It was two stir fry veggie entrees for $32 total- when we got home one of the containers was not even half full and they were both lukewarm and not very appetizing. We love the proximity of your restaurant and the food has always been great- but tonight was awful- we were so disappointed and felt ripped off. I thought I would communicate to you directly before writing an honest review on Yelp." They never responded back!! Be careful ordering carry out from Siam it will be meager portions, take over an hour and 15 minutes, and be over $30 for two basic entrees. I have never in my life dealt with a more condescending host. Rude, arrogant and pretty much an a$$. No matter how good the food is, just not worth it. Ruined our entire night after dealing with him. This place was a pleasant surprise that we found while honeymooning in Telluride. My wife ordered a sweet and tasty Thai iced tea. I got a mint green tea which was perfect. I saw that the banana curry was highly recommended by several other Yelp users, so I ordered that with chicken. It was amazingly tasty. Order it spicy so you can taste the sweet balance out the spiciness. Our server said he would not order it mild or medium. We shared the Tom Yum pot of soup medium spicy which was excellent. Plenty for the both of us. My wife ordered 3 hand rolls for her meal and was more than happy and full. Great Thai food in this small mountain town. read more

Best thai food we've had in a long time. Not only is this the best restaurant in telluride, but it could be the best Thai restaurant in Colorado. Simply amazing food all around. It was loud and busy the Sunday night we were there. They do not take reservations but you can call ahead the day of and get added to their list (highly recommended, because it was so busy). This is the absolute best restaurant I've been to in Telluride. Floradora was a close second place! We waited 30 minutes for dinner and it was SO WORTH it. The staff is amazing, talkative, and so generous. Damon is one of the nicest guys ever, he asked my girlfriend if she wanted to take her dish to go, even though only the soup was left - so Damon offered to throw in some fresh brown rice. The service was great. Our server recommended his top 2 favorites and we went with that. He was right on with his recommended dishes. It's something about being in Telluride-I always end up craving Thai food! I had the khao soi curry during my last visit and was blown away- and the envy of the table. Any time you're dealing with a mixture of curry and noodles, you know it'll be good and this was such a great mix of creamy (from coconut milk) and spice (I can't even pretend to know the contents of this concoction). Many members of my group said they wanted to get mine next time! On the other hand, the cocktails were extremely unpleasant. The lychee martini tasted watered down and a jalapeño ?tequila? My first review.....It's my fault for letting the host seat us at the table by the wait station and kitchen service window. It was hot, loud, and the entire staff was walking by me constantly. If you go to this restaurant then make sure you sit in the bar/dining room or on the patio. The food - I had the recommended by our sever "house special" CHOO-CHEE CURRY with chicken. If you want a chicken breast topped with a pea-nutty coconut curry sauce, white rice, and 4 pieces of broccoli (as a garnish) then order this. I will admit the sauce was pretty tasty but the dish needed vegetables. My wife ordered the Drunken Noodles with pork and it was solid. She likes her food spicy and this dish delivered but it had lettuce filler - a big no-no for us. The reason for my jumping on Yelp to put this review in is because we were seated at a terrible table (someone was seated next to us and left). My wife and I stopped in at 4pm to see if we needed a reservation. We were told by the guy in the Hawaiian shirt that he could get us a table at 7:15 pm. We requested a spot on the patio but he would not commit. We showed up 30 minutes early thinking he could work us in to a patio table, but we were urged to come back at 7:15 (the bar was being used for dinner service). After we were seated (around 8:00) this restaurant had several seats (including on the patio) open. The food is probably good but we just couldn't get past the rest of our experience. read more
