Borscht and grilled peaches
Barfa S.

One of the best meals of our lives! The borscht was bright and packed with flavor. The grilled peaches were beautifully balanced with sweet, creamy, crunchy, and smoky flavors. The ribs fell off the bones and had a perfect mix of tang, sweet, and savory. I ordered a mocktail that was delightfully refreshing. And, as someone with several food intolerances, the staff knew the menu and ingredients inside out. Friendly service that sets the bar too high for other places!

Shrimp and clam cioppino

Our group of six ordered several appetizers to share. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp and clam cioppino sans house sausage since I don't eat pork. It was very flavorful! The service was excellent. Our waiter recommended wine pairings and came back often to check on us. My only qualm is it's a bit pricey for what they offer, especially in Pagosa Springs.

If you're in the area this is a MUST! They focus on getting as much ingredients from the local market. For starters, the asparagus and Brussel sprouts were mouthwatering. So delicious. The salad was made with garlic and ranch, they called it something else. It was delicious. I could have just had that. The steak entree was phenomenal. The dessert cookie skillet was superb. Sarah was fantastic, service was great, gave my friend wine samples, offered me tons of non alcoholic drinks and offered to make whatever I wanted. You can sit by the river as well or inside. Dinner is 4-8 only otherwise I believe it's just food trucks.

This was an amazing spot with a great view. The food was unbelievably fresh and all the flavors paired so well with each other. The weather was perfect and sitting close to the water was the perfect setting to such a wholesome meal. This was a birthday dinner for me and I was very impressed!

Smoked Cauliflower, mole, toasted almonds, queso and salsa verde

This was our second time at Meander's, this time we brought first time friends. From the initial greeting to us leaving every employee we encountered was very friendly and happy. We were able to sit at one of the tables overlooking the river - absolutely beautiful! All of our meals were excellent, from the starters, to the salads and the entres. I had the chocolate martini for my desert, so, so good. For our starters we had an array of items; Ahi tuna, cauliflower, ribs and one other. The tomahawk pork chop was huge and very tasteful. We will be back!

If you're in Pagosa Springs, you have to stop by here. It's arguably the best food around in an hour radius. Everything was so incredibly flavorful, the drinks were refreshing, and the service was great too.

This place is a true joy and a bit of a surprise for such a small town in such a remote area of Colorado. The riverside setting is beautiful and captures the essence of Pagosa. Their menu also reflects local sourcing and inspiration while boasting a world class wine list and delightful cocktail menu. Our waiter was warm and helpful and well versed in the menu and the wine list. We got the mushroom toast, the asparagus, and the elk schnitzel. All were excellent. Highly recommend as an upscale and elevated dining experience for locals and folks passing through. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Take a walk along the paved path by the river if you have time to kill, too!

There is a reason Meander was rated one of the top 50 restaurants in the States by the New York Times. Food, drinks, service, everything is top notch, second to none. You definitely need a reservation although I was a single and showed up at 5 and was able to get a seat at the bar - but only because there was one opening. If you are in Pagosa Springs (or even within an hour of town) you must go. One thing to consider - the apps / small plates are amazing. So much so that I decided to do 4 apps instead of doing one and a main. The main dish portions are significant. Obviously Highly Recommend

Lovely space and place to have dinner. The parking lot was a little tricky to get into and parking was extremely tight. The building is right off the main roadway and marked well. We did not have a reservation we walked in and were seated promptly. Service with a smile and a lot of hometown hospitality. Right along the river with beautiful views inside and out. The food was as good as it looked. I enjoyed the Coconut rice, vegetables and chicken. My friend enjoyed the steak. Everything arrived hot and fast. We even made room for desert. Dinner for two with drinks was around $200.00 but worth every penny. Really good food. Come here and eat! Great for groups, couples , anyone.

Scallops

Hi update returned to this spot a year later after giving it 5 stars- while the service and drinks are still amazing- the food has really lost attention to detail and quality. The winter citrus salad was a tangled mess of arugula and almost no citrus. A Neapolitan dessert cake looked like a prepackaged brownie and tasted old and stale. I know business owners have to save money, but I was sad to see such a downturn in quality.

Like probably a lot of people, I ended up here because of the New York Times article and it did not disappoint! While they likely try to accommodate walk-ins, I had a reservation and was seated at the bar, and the bar was packed, so I wouldn't plan on just walking in. I will say that the barstools were a little uncomfortable by the end of the meal. The service was great and I enjoyed the server's cocktail recommendation. My favorite part of the meal was a seasonal salad with plums. I also really enjoyed the Palisade peach crumble for dessert. The presentation on everything was beautiful. I will definitely come back if I am in town.

We were seated right away - and they were slammed! Despite this, we had a very attentive server. I ordered the poutine as my meal, and it was seriously some of the best. It was absolutely loaded with cheese curds and gravy - they didn't skimp on anything! I swear there were multiple layers of curds on top of each layer of fries. The gravy was perfect, too - not too salty and so full of flavor. My wife got the catfish basket and was happy with her choice as well - though she may have been a bit jealous of my poutine! No idea if or when I'll ever be back in Pagosa Springs, but I will definitely stop here again if I am.

The restaurant was clearly popular, with a packed parking lot and a steady line of guests waiting for tables. While the outdoor seating wait was about 30 minutes, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated indoors right away. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, though it can get quite loud during busy times. I ordered the Rio Brisket Tacos and appreciated the happy hour discount, which made them an even better value. The Chokecherry Habanero Margarita was a standout, offering just the right balance of flavor and heat. My son tried the Homesick Texas Steak Sandwich along with a homemade root beer and thought they were decent. Service was a bit inconsistent during our visit, but the staff seemed to be managing a very busy crowd. The restaurant's popularity was evident when we overheard that the wait time had grown to an hour and a half by the time we left. Overall, while the experience didn't completely meet our expectations, it's easy to see why this spot draws such a crowd. The unique drink offerings, happy hour specials, eating by the river and strong local following may make it worth a visit for travelers passing through the area.

The wait for a table was about 30 minutes, but we spent the time walking around the area, so it went by quickly. Once seated, we found ourselves in a tiny dining room and bar with walls covered in license plates from different states. We turned it into a fun little "I Spy" game while waiting for our food. We started with the Chips and Salsa Fresca, which was fresh and delicious. For our main meal, we ordered tacos -- the #1 El Diablo, #5 Esteban Special, and #6 Fish Tacos. The chipotle sauce on the El Diablo was phenomenal, and the grilled fish in the fish tacos was some of the tastiest I've had. The staff was fantastic as well. My daughter ordered the Chips w/ Cheese (nachos) from the kids' menu and unfortunately didn't like them at all. When we mentioned it to our server, she genuinely cared and quickly made things right by removing the item from our bill. Next time I'm in Pagosa, I'll definitely be coming back to this gem of a place.

Maybe for a food truck this is okay but for a sit-down restaurant I find this unacceptable. I ordered the smothered green chili cheeseburger and left hungry and unimpressed. The patties were over done and came with cheese and sauce. The bun might have been store bought. For $21 (after taxes and 3% credit card fee), one should not have to leave hungry. To top off the insult, the chips they serve you are just a bag of Miss Vickie's chips! Yes! $21 for a burger that doesn't even come with homemade chips. I just couldn't believe it. Every other restaurant would serve you either piping hot fries or homemade chips with a burger that's priced that high. The whole experience felt more like an overpriced city food truck than a sit-down restaurant. We had plans to go to the Creede location but definitely going to skip it. I don't know if this is an attempt at recouping lost revenue from pandemic but if you're going to charge $21 plus tip for a burger then at least serve it with fresh chips or fries and don't use plastic silverware and paper plates. But if you're going to use bagged chips and paper plates, price your burger at $10 not $19.

The restaurant itself is nice, nothing fancy, they are here to feed you and that's their priority. For the food: I went with the Birria Jalisco and my partner went with the fajita burrito. For drinks we had a mimosa and coffees. Mimosa was great, coffee was pretty standard. The birria was actually pretty tasty and came with a side of rice and beans. I just wish I would've asked for corn instead of flour tortillas as they don't ask when you place the order. My partner THOROUGHLY enjoyed the fajita burrito lol that plate was clean. Overall the food was good, the restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. Would definitely visit again.
