Sweet basil martini and pad woon sen

Good food- I liked my pad woon sen and my husband liked his curry. Service was great, ambiance was casual- good for family gatherings. Prices quite expensive. 4.3 stars.

We just left our experience here. Things to note 1: They do NOT open at 4:30, they open at 5 PM and they won't let you in until after 5 (that's when they start prepping their tables). 4:30 is when they start takeout. 2: The prices are INSANE, not just high, shocking for Thai food. We ordered two curries and a pad Thai, the bill was over $100. Same prices as finer dining here in the same town without the luxury experience and service. Portions are smaller than expected as well. More details: We arrived when the open time said at 4:30 apparently that's the time they take takeout but who would know because they have no social media or let along website to give you any information on this. They have an outdated Facebook page that hasn't been updated since 2020. We arrive 15 minutes before five and opted to order for takeout and sit on their patio to save time. The food came quick. We had expected bigger portions due to the price but when we open the pad, Thai saw half a container of it definitely smaller than your normal local Thai place. We also ordered two curries and received one full normal sized rice container. We asked why we didn't get two and they said it was a double order, kind of odd. We eat Thai a lot mind you. We were there when they opened at five and saw their line of people waiting to be sat, and they were just barely even after five starting to set up their tables. Just very poorly run, not customer focused, you feel like you're being taken advantage of and maybe that's the reason they don't have any social media or website. Food was pretty good like normal good Thai nothing special, seems fresh, but not worth the experience in my opinion.

An amazing restaurant to check out if you are ever in Telluride! Made the mistake of ordering way too much food but it was well worth it. The my friend and I shared the yellow curry and short rib which he didn't not realize was also a curry. But the short rib curry was one of the best curries I've ever had. Will be coming back here the next time I'm in Telluride! The staff were very friendly and even gave us a free dessert.

Best ever. Very tasty And not greasy. Good atmosphere too. Service was awesome. For sure will be back.

Food was delicious! Definitely recommend making a reservation as they get pretty busy, but the food was amazing. Highly recommend the pork dumplings and the shrimp tempura!

Good food, but only if you can get a table. Always packed and loud, but authentic Thai cuisine. Get carry out.... much easier.

Nothing can ruin a meal as fast as a waitress Who doesn't like tourists but the bad service was better than the food and the atmosphere

Also keep in mind this was late afternoon on a Friday. Unfortunately fast may be part of the problem. I ordered curry-it was thin, one dimensional with some chicken and a few pepper slices. Some other mushy stuff I didn't recognize. It took all the rice they gave me to make it palatable. Wife had Pad Thai. Medium heat was too hot for her-she thought it was average. We also ordered Crab Rangoon. 11 bucks for 4 soggy pieces. Total bill with up charge for using credit-3%. Plus 15% tip for handing me the bag-$60 bucks! Crazy! It wound be different if the food was excellent. I think it was pre-made-getting ready for a busy Friday. That's why it was soggy and quick. You'd be better off making curry from a bottle from the store. Sorry-for 60 bucks I expected much more-for take out! We will not be back.

Like most Chinese restaurants, it is mediocre at best. I haven't eaten at many Chinese restaurants over the past 25 year because of the lack of flavor and ingenuity. San Francisco has a couple of good Chinese restaurants and there is Tommy Wok's in Sausalito (at least, as of 2010), but other than that, I am continually disappointed. Shang Hai has very good reviews like many of the restaurants in Pagosa Springs, but the food is not worth the 4.2 rating. We had the Beef and Black Pepper, the Happy Family (Shrimp) and the Sweet and Sour Pork. The restaurant's menu forgot to mention that The Beef and Black Pepper was about 50% meat and 50% green peppers (by weight). In fact, there was no mention of green peppers. On top of having an inordinate amount of green peppers, the peppers were flavorless. The shrimp was okay. There was nothing special about it. The Sweet and Sour Pork was okay. It had too much sugar and not enough sour. Again, the dish was bland. Except for the person seating us (I believe it was one of the owners) we had a good experience with the two servers we had. They had good attitudes and were professional. If you are craving Chinese, I believe this is the only one in town. I cannot recommend Shang Hai Chinese Restaurant.
