We went on a Saturday night around 7, and the place was pretty packed. I waited at the hostess stand to put our name on the list, but it took forever for her to even acknowledge me. Seemed she was answering the phone for reservations, to go orders, and calling people whose names were on the list. It's definitely too much for her to be doing when it's so busy! She seemed very put out, and in reading all these reviews, it seems that's her MO. Onto the food...my husband had a bowl of one of the soups and said it was good. Good flavor and good spice. We split the green curry with shrimp, and while it was good, it wasn't a standout at all. We ordered it with medium heat, and for us, that was perfect. Great ambiance on the westside of town in an old house on the corner with a pleasant front porch for outdoor dining. Was here in August so opted to sit outside to enjoy the cool evening temperatures. TIP: Siam does not take reso's but you can call ahead and get on the list so you can get seated faster. People flock here, so prepare. After an amazing and picturesque day of mountain biking, we were ready for some good eats. All the locals I talked too, highly recommended Siam. All of the Yelp reviews seemed to concur. Upon arrival, the place was packed but because I called ahead, I got an immediate table. The interior of the restaurant was very hot so we went from sitting inside to moving outside where the fresh air and cooler temperatures were welcomed. The seating arrangement of the tables outside was a bit tight but proved to stimulate lively conversation with the table next to us. Started out with the Thai dumplings and an order of the Tom Kha soup with chicken. Both were excellent and the dumplings came topped with roasted garlic...a nice detail. I also ordered a "Jalapeno Kiss" martini with the house infused vodka with jalapeno. When it came, I actually thought that they had brought out the wrong cocktail because it was so sweet and I could not really taste any jalapeno but when I said something, the Owner herself brought out an extra shot of the house jalapeno vodka and explained that most people thought it was too spicy, so they only used a "kiss." Once I added this shot to the cocktail that was served up like a martini, it tasted just fine. I was appreciative and impressed with how they handled this..and I can't find any fault with a free extra shot of booze. The sweet basil cocktail was very good also. I ordered the green curry for my entree and the server (who was excellent & very helpful) asked me if I preferred organic or regular chicken in my curry. This really stood out to me and how wonderful..I wish every eatery gave you this option. The green curry with the organic chicken came out to $20 dollars but was well worth it. It was delicious and a large enough portion to feed two. The curry also had a nice touch of fresh green beans in it which was refreshing and stood out bc it is not standard for the vegetables included with green curry. I would love to go back and try their massamon curry and drunken noodles. I would have but they are only open for dinner and I was leaving the next day around lunch. This place is definitely worth the hype because when you are traveling and in a new culinary environment, good quality food and a nice experience is really appreciated. read more

The reason for only three stars is that we sat near the front door and IT SLAMMED EVERY TIME someone went in or out which was often given there was seating on the patio. Best Thai food I have ever had! The menu is huge (think Cheesecake Factory!)...so you should be able to find anything for anyone. While they don't take reservations...they have always done a great job if you call ahead and ask when you could come in. The place is small...so they don't have a ton of tables. It was our last night in Telluride, and we had already had a week of excellent dining. Our friends, who are annual visitors and brought my me and my wife for the first time, saved Siam for last. It quickly became obvious to me why they did. The place is small; so small, there's an intact and an energy within that helps to create an awesome ambiance. I had a beer from Telluride Brewing Co, which most restaurants will have on tap. We started with the vegetable spring rolls and chicken spring rolls. These were a bit lacking in flavor but thankfully, this was not a sign of things to come. I had the crispy duck. Tremendous. Moist and perfectly cooked on the inside with a crispy outside and just the right amount of heat. My wife had a very interesting scallop dish with a sort of duck confit accompaniment which made the dish rather unique and absolutely delicious. Disappointing because we were hungry but made us excited to try the place because everyone was willing to wait. Service was good and quick but not to the point where we felt rushed. Menu was huge and felt there was so much more to explore and try there. We went with more traditional dishes and everything was excellent: shrimp spring rolls, basil duck, Thai dumplings, and chicken Pad Thai. If you like great Thai food, then Siam is the place for you! We called ahead for a table at 5pm because we were told to get in early due to how popular they are. The Nipple Platter is the best way to kick off your meal and sample some great appetizers. Plenty of food plus a split entree for two people. The cocktails were good, but not quite worth the additional cost. Pad Thai with chicken has chicken in every bite and the Regular Spicy is very mild. If you like heat, kick it up a notch. read more

So here we go, over all it's pretty good, service is fast for Thai, and the food is really good. Let's talk about the good things first, the menu is large, and the peanut and pineapple stir fry is very good. Also the noodles were good and everything was served with a purple flower. Also there was some tofu hand rolls that had colored edible rice paper that was great and super cute looking. We sat outside and the heater is able to be self controlled so we kept it warm and it was nice. Now for the not so great things. They cannot make the curry vegetarian, there is pre made fish sauce in that and the Pad Thai. Also there was a hair in the rice, which was a bit gross. Been to Siam a few times, always a great dinner. I love Thai food, especially hot Thai. Siam does it hot (or not if you do not prefer). Their crispy crab is great, their lettuce wraps are great. I had a spicy chicken/broccoli dish that is excellent (don't recall what they called it). The tables at Siam a tight, so you will probably get to know your dining neighbors. So be it. My friends and I called in an order on a Tuesday night when it wasn't so busy and we were told the order would be ready in 20 minutes. 25 minutes later we showed up and we're told to pay for our order and the food was almost ready. Yes, the wait was insane and the place could easily triple in size and not be able to accommodate everyone, but it was worth the wait! I ate here Saturday night and really liked it. I had the Drunken Noodles with chicken and I ordered mine "hot". If you're a realy spicey Thai food kind of person, then go with the "really hot" as the "hot" in my opinion was a little under the heat index that I normally prefer. However, you can fix this by getting an extra side of chili sauce from your server. I also recommend trying their more contemporary dishes. (I tried my friends scallops and duck patte, it was great as well). Anyway, great food and good porportions for refueling after a long day of burning calories. I was a little skeptical about a Thai restaurant at a ski town in Colorado, but I was blown away by my meal. For appetizers go with the dumplings. For a meal, get the Coo-Chee Curry! The secret (not really a secret) is have it with duck as your protein. The duck was prepared perfectly with amazing flavor and excellent crisp on the skin. My wife had the green curry with chicken and enjoyed it as well. I will say with most Thai restaurants I have been to, the medium spice level is fairly hot. If you like spicy, like I do, ask for hot or extra hot here as the mild and medium spice levels are not very spicy. The lack of spice did not take away from the flavor of each dish. Some of the most rude people I have ever met. We went to a restaurant very close called There after and it was incredible. And best of all the people there were nice. We told them about we were treated and apparently we were not their first customers to arrive with similar stories. Honestly I have never been treated so rudely in my life and I was with two colleagues from Australia and Costa Rica. I was super embarrassed of my culture.
