We arrived for the first time in beautiful Telluride at 930 pm after driving 11h. We were exhausted and quite hungry. We were lucky to be welcomed to be seated here at 950pm and placed our orders in quick. The place was warm and inviting inside, surrounded by Thai art and beautiful Buddha statues. There was a small but lively bar and it was quite hopping at this late hour. Lucky for us, we did not need to wait an hour in line. Our server was very warm, hospitable, and thoughtful. He recommended several delicious dishes and all were out of this world! The pad Thai was among the best I have ever eaten and not overly sweet as at many establishments. The curry puffs and steamed dumplings were also extraordinary. We also shared an elk curry (red curry but sorry I forget exactly what kind!) which was an explosion of flavor on the palate and very well paired with the lean but tender and perfectly cooked elk. Would love to review the restaurant for its food but the hostess' complete and total ineffectiveness and poor attitude made us want to run far away. We were looking for a place to grab some takeout on a Friday night. Totally understandable that there will be a wait anywhere on a summer evening on a weekend. We didn't even make it into the restaurant to place an order. The hostess here was just a foul person and needs a serious attitude adjustment, or should find a job not in customer service. I simply asked if we could place an order for takeout and she tells us, in a very condescending tone, "it's going to be at least 2 hours". 2 hours? For takeout? Really? Okay I am dealing with someone who really is upset about something or just an unhappy person that is trying to dissuade people from dining here. Clueless as to the reasoning why. After reading other reviews, this is not the first time she has gone out of her way to be disrespectful. Siam is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and also probably my favorite restaurant in Telluride. Their huge menu has something for most everyone, and if you're overwhelmed by the bulk of it then they are more than happy to give you amazing recs. For an appetizer get the chu chee ahi a la carte (rather than the tuna thai taki appetizer). Their pad thai and drunken noodles never disappoint, and I love their hand rolls (especially the steamed lobster/ crab with thailandaise sauce). I would eat here every night if I could. read more

Fantastic Thai food. Smaller restaurant so probably not good for very large groups. The duck in all forms was excellent. Then I asked how long the wait would be even if we came to sit at the bar and was once again answered with a rude tone " I don't know, probably over 2 hours." I have always loved this place but no longer. Maybe because it's late in the season the staff have long stopped giving a shit, but we waited for 50 minutes to get anything but water at our table (the water lady was the lone MVP of the evening). After 40 minutes a waiter came to tell us we wouldn't be getting spring rolls because they were sold out of shrimp and when I told him that we'd been there for 40 minutes and hadn't got anything but water he could not have cared less. NFG by the staff all round, and the food didn't taste so great when it came. Good thing they don't have to rely on tourism. You have an increasing number of better choices in town. read more

Ridiculous waiting time 2+ hours on a week day. TOTALLY HYPED. And more over if you are not around after giving your name on waiting list others who show up will be seated before you so no guarantees. The food really doesn't taste good as any other usual Thai or Asian place. There are other options so please look around for other options which are far far better. We came here on a recommendation that this was the best Thai food in town. We were very disappointed. We only ordered the Tom Yum (hot and spicy) soup and Green Curry, both with...chicken? As we waited for our soup to come out, our server brought our bowls and spoons. I have NEVER been to a restaurant that brings out dishes that are so broken with years of food stuck to them. I had to ask for a regular spoon as I nearly lost my stomach looking at the food on the original spoon they gave me. I can understand one spoon slipping by (well, not really), but my husband's spoon had the same green looking schmegma encrusted all over it. The regular, metal utensils did not have food stuck on them....whew. Our soup arrived and I got a whiff of something that somewhat turned my tummy. It smelled like rotten meat. I kept thinking it was from the dumpster behind us, but we closed the window so it couldn't have been. Maybe a specialty dish coming from the kitchen? I ate the soup. The broth was okay, the chicken was dry. It was missing something...maybe more veggies or the shrimp that the menu said it came with but didn't? Our Green Curry arrived and another wave of rotten meat came through. Again, I thought it was either the dumpster or the kitchen...this time I knew it was my dish. I ate a few bites and had to stop. My husband and I also ordered 2 Thai Teas each as our beverage. When we received the bill, our teas ended up being $24!!!!!!!!!!! We were schocked! I have never paid so much for half and half and a pre-made Thai Tea mix...ever!!! We left very disappointed paying over $65 for 2 dishes that smelled awful and 4 teas. I can understand if the food was amazing...I'll pay for that. But when your food arrives smelling like spoiled meat, twice, and your very simple tea is a third of your bill...something is wrong. Would recommend Reservation if possible but we were seated on the heated porch until seats became available at the bar. The bar is first come status. The place is small and cozy and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our party of four had an incredible dinner. Truly enjoyed our conversation with the bar staff. The Nipple Platter appetizer was amazing. The Seafood Basket was incredibly flavorful. All dishes are very large and definitely fit for sharing. Great dining experience in Telluride!!! read more

Seriously had never experienced such a rude disgruntled restaurant employee! So our friend suggested we snag take-out from this "local favorite". We ordered 2 dishes, 2 appetizers and a small sake to drink while we waited up front (by the door). First off, the man who took our order insisted we order the sake from him instead our hosts friend who happened to be bar-tending. Then I payed for our order with a debit card and left the guy several ones from my wallet. 3 to be exact. (all the small bills I had, and lets be honest he wasn't going to get a 20 on take-out) I don't know what this guy was thinking but when he brought us our sake (which we weren't really expecting) he gave back the tip and said "obviously you need this more than me so you can just take this back." In the rudest most condescending tone I have ever witnessed in a restaurant. I just want to be clear about this, all he did for us up until then was enter our order into a register. The food was over priced to begin with, and mediocre at best! Why bother with mediocre over-priced thai cuisine in a tourist town? Sorry. I hear the owner is nice, but she need to hire a new host. Oh! And get this! when I checked my statement I noticed that the guy added himself a 20% tip!$ on takeout! What nerve this thief has! 75$ horrible takeout. Never again! read more

I've yet to have decent or friendly service at this restaurant. I have given it several tries and my experience has always been pretty average. On my last visit, I ordered some food to go on my lunch break, paying $30 for a soup and salad. On a side note, I try not to complain about the high prices because well, it's Telluride, and nothing is cheap in this town. I don't mind paying a little extra if I'm having food that's tasty and is made with high-quality ingredients. The soup came with chicken when I ordered tofu (luckily for them, I like chicken) and the salad was completely soggy, as the entire salad was tossed in an excessive amount of a vinegar-based dressing. By the time I got to sit down and enjoy my food, the salad was nearly inedible and far from appetizing. I love Thai food and hear from others that love this place. It's great that they do as well as they do. Just unfortunate I haven't been able to give into the hype. It's just a shame that dining options are limited in Telluride, because maybe then this place would step it up if only they had some competition. Call me a hard critic, but I just want a nice dining experience when I get to go out once in a blue moon! read more

I was here 2 years ago during Horror Fest and that was toooo long for me to wait and eat here again. Their food is delicious, tonight I tried the lobster fusion rolls and they were supreme! The seafood basket was super tasty. If you come during peak season expect atleast 1-2 hr wait, but totally worth it. Sadly I'd have to disagree with most reviews of this restaurant. As it has been pointed out they do not take reservations, so when we got there we were placed on a list and told it would take about twenty minutes. I asked if we could sit at the bar and order appetizers, and I was given a disappointing/very-unhelpful answer. Something along the lines of, "You can't. My manager doesn't like it when people order food from the bar, cause someone ordering dinner could be sitting there instead." Like other reviewers pointed out they just can't seem to handle customers very well or kindly. About thirty (10-15 minutes later than they had said) minutes later we finally were seated. Our service had the same icy reception as our hostess. Adding to the general coldness of service was a rush of cold air that was injected into our area every time the door was opened. I wasn't super impressed with the food either. Maybe I'm pickier than the other reviewers, but I ordered the green curry and the pad thai, two staples I think give a good general idea of a Thai restaurant. Neither was particularly great, and I felt both were over priced for what we did get. Like other reviewers said it's the best Thai restaurant in Telluride, but only because it's the only one. If you're dying for Thai then be prepared to wait and receive bad service for "ok" food. But if you must have Asian I'd recommend Honga's over this place any day. read more
