Recently added six shades to my home and started the process by asking the highest-rated (Yelp) suppliers for quotes. Most were very responsive though none as fast as Michael @Shutter Guy Austin. But what good is fast if the product and service is not good? Have no fear - Michael delivered! Not only was he prompt in responding and then coming out to measure each window, he gave me input around types, fit and unique concerns no one else did. Example: I had a door fit for shades and Michael was the only one who pointed out that even though the shade would fit between the glass and handle, turning the lever handle would probably damage the shades over time. The solution was simple: I reversed the handle and now no problem. The point is no one else pointed out that potential concern. Pricewise Michael was the best although the high quality Hunter Douglas shades are not going to be cheap. And they're worth it, especially if reselling your home in the next few years. Installation was a breeze: Michael and his installer Mike did all six windows - and some of these are big! - in just two hours measuring fit and finish and ensuring each shade worked properly. Shopped around for the blinds for our new home. Requested Michael for an in home consultation. He arrived on time, showed us a lot of options to work with and also took all the measurements. The same day we were given a quote for the blinds which was almost 20% lower than any other store we looked at. (Btw we had comparable quotes from almost all five star places that Yelp showed us. Other places were giving us Faux wood blinds for a higher price and Michael was able to quote us for wood blinds a significantly cheaper. We finally ordered Hunter Douglas Parkland wood blinds and Designer Roller Shades for our new house with Michael. Within 15 days from placing the order the blinds were installed in our home. (Other stores were quoting in excess pf 4 weeks btw) Michael himself was present at the installation. The installer did a tremendous job in putting up all the blinds and shades in just twi hours (we have around 20 large windows). Michael was responsive, his initial consultation was thorough and he didn't recommend any products that he did not need. His follow-up and customer service is also top notch. Ultimately we chose him for his customer service, transparent pricing, and his pricing was the most competitive. We did shop around for our blinds and Hunter Douglas shades and his pricing cannot be beat. The only issue we had is that we waiting a really long time for a piece that we ultimately did not need to fix one of our blind. However, this was not Michael's fault, this was more of the technician not realizing that something else would resolve our issue and Hunter Douglas took a long time to get the part that we didn't end up needing due to COVID delays. This review is about a year late, but I'll use the cliche "better late than never". Michael is very knowledgeable and fast. There's more details than saying I want my whole house (over 30 windows) to have white shutters. Even when we didn't know a few details he was quick at making excellent suggestions that we went with. In the end we went with white, 4" louvers, divided tilt rod shutters. The install went smoothly too. There was a problem where 3 of the shutters let a little too much light coming through the top, but after some exchange with pictures his guys came out and fixed it quickly and did some touch up painting. I don't recall the details of the warranty, but a year later these high quality wood shutters still look brand new. Almost forgot to mention, his prices were a lot lower than the other estimate we had. read more

A good friend in Katy got all the shutters in their house done by Shutter Up. We were so impressed with the quality of the work that we asked for the contact info. I called Mary Beth to see if she would come out to Austin to give us a quote and she informed me they were just starting up an Austin location headed up by her brother, Michael. They truly are the nicest people you could ever meet. They both came to our new house as scheduled and I felt like I had known them forever. After completing all the measurements, they gave us a quote that we thought was very reasonable. They weren't pushy at all and gave us time to think it over and in our case, to get another quote which turned out to be significantly higher. We called Michael right away to tell him we'd like to proceed. He scheduled us for another measurement and in about 6 weeks, we had all the shutters installed. The installer did a fantastic job as he took his time to ensure all the nail holes were filled and painted. Michael came along to oversee the installation. Overall, we couldn't be happier.
