I tried this place for the first time a couple days ago. Great breakfast place in Wellington! Prices are not bad and the serving size is good too. The servers were all really friendly. I ordered the corn beef hash which is better than most places I've tried. The only thing I would say is the hash browns that are served here are not shredded like some breakfast places but its alright. My friend ordered the steak and eggs and the steak was juicy and not dry. Overall it's a good place to at least try out in Wellington! read more

My boyfriend and I went here for breakfast yesterday. The parking was pretty busy and only one spot left on that side of the parking lot. There was no wait and we got seated quickly. Our server was nice and attentive. I got the traditional benny with home fries and he got eggs, pancakes, and sausage. The food came out pretty quick and was decent. My husband and I went for the first time. We love mom and pop type restaurants and this one did not disappoint. I had the corn beef hash and grits with short stacks and my husband had short stacks, Bacon, hash brown casserole and potatoes. After reading some of the reviews you'd think this place was spectacular . Not sure at all what the hype is . Ordered 2 coffees and one water - got 1 coffee and two waters . Waitress was no where in sight and we finally got to ask her for the missing coffee . Breakfast came out cold. My daughters breakfast was completely the wrong thing so I ate my food while she waited endlessly for her re-do meal . The waitress apologized and said "she would take care of us " that to me meant something off the tab but guess what everything we ordered was on the bill. When her redo order came out we realized she had no place setting because it was taken away with first order - had to round up waitress again . Also Had to ask for coffee refills too which was odd at breakfast time . The hash browns had mysterious pieces of bacon in them like the grill was dirty - that was a big turn off . My daughters chocolate chip pancakes ( her second order after first order was wrong ) consisted of pancakes with chocolate chips on top - weird . Average breakfast spot. If your from up north this is like your local breakfast place. Has its own signature smell when you walk in, the cheese on the omelette is literally one square cheese. The wait was over an hour AFTER being seated. The food came out for 4 people (table of 12) and then for a few others 10 minutes laster, and then the remaining 2 people got their food when we were all done eating. I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning with my father. I grew up in Wellington and was pleased to hear that a new breakfast spot opened by the old Publix that I grew up near. The place was small but cute, every table in the restaurant was full! Good thing was, there was no wait for a table. My father order two eggs over light with sausage links. I did not take them but he said it was absolutely fantastic! I ordered the veggie egg white omelet. Honestly, I was not super impressed with my omelette, however I did like the fact that it was loaded with vegetables. Unfortunately, the place smells a little weird, like they need to clean the tables with less dirty rags. I am only giving short stacks 3 stars because I want to come back and see how I feel about perhaps another dish. I hear that the french toast is really good, perhaps I'll try that! read more

Very disappointed. My Razzle Dazzle yogurt parfait consisted of a skimpy portion of 5 banana slices, a couple of sliced berries and a not-very-generous helping of yogurt. Very "fast-food-ish." I left starving. My husband's omelette was just average, and the hash browns were, as My Cousin Vinny said, "I-dentical" to the ones served at McDonald's. Exactly the same. Sorry to say, the accompanying pancakes, at a restaurant called "Short Stacks," were mealy, and flour-y tasting and butter and syrup didn't seem to help. We had stopped into Short Stacks for breakfast prior to hitting the road to Key Largo this past Saturday. When we walked in, we were seated right away by a very friendly hostess. A couple of minutes after being seated a less than excited waitress greeted us and took our drink order. Our waitress seemed less than excited to be working early on a Saturday morning but she still provided efficient service. The drinks came out quickly along with the food. I ordered an egg-white omelet with dry wheat toast and fresh fruit. Although my order was complicated, it came out perfectly. I was slightly disappointed in the "fresh fruit" as it looked like it was pulled out of a previously packaged fruit salad. Other than that, the food itself was pretty good and the service was quick. A friend got the Caramel Apple Pancakes which, of course, I had to try. They were delicious! If I ever wanted a good cheat meal - this would definitely be a place to go. They had PEANUT BUTTER PANCAKES. Agh my mouth if still watering over just the thought. The price point of the restaurant is great for the quality and amount of food that you get. read more

We went today and it was very good. I had breakfast and my friend had lunch. The owner checked on us several times and was very nice. We used a Groupon to check it out and we will definitely go back. The club sandwich looked delicious and my friend really enjoyed it. My breakfast dish of eggs, pancakes, bacon & sausage was very good. Eh. We came here twice. The reason we came twice was the other day hubby could not decide between 2 different things. Morning 1 : It was Friday July 3rd, so it was a holiday weekend we got here at 10:30am and had about a 20 minute wait. I got the Eggs Benedict and the waitress said they normally came with hash brown casserole and I should try it, which I did. Husband got Corned Beef Benedict, also with casserole. My eggs Benedict were perfect, I got the hollandaise sauce on side as I always do (especially since their menu stated that it was "smothered" in the hollandaise) the word 'smothered' scares me. I was not a fan of the casserole. It was a somewhat tasteless cheesy potato mix. If you are a casserole type of person, then you would probably enjoy it. My husbands Corned beef Benedict... kind of disappointing. It tasted and appeared like sliced deli corned beef, then chopped into squares, and some cubed potatoes added to it. We also got a side of the Biscuits and gravy to try them out. I thought it was good for gravy, my husband said tasted like canned. It was very thick. OK so nothing too bad except neither one of us fan of the casserole or the corned beef. Morning 2 : We go Sunday at 8am and get right in. I got eggs Benedict again but I got the home fries this time and my husband got the Mexican breakfast wrap and he went with the plain hash browns this time (the hash brown casserole was actually an extra $1.00 on a regular menu item) The eggs Benedict were good as last time. The home fries were deep fried, dark brown and burnt (I took a picture but it somehow disappeared) My husbands Mexican wrap he said was extremely boring and the has browns looked and tasted like McDonalds hash browns chopped up. It was served in a fashion that appeared scooped with an ice cream scoop. It was a round ball, with some parts crunchy and other parts not so much. Tried Short Stack for the first time this morning. Severely disappointed with the quality of food and service. It's pretty hard to be disappointed with breakfast. The egg white omelet with veggies was not an omelet at all instead it was eggs topped with very undercooked close to raw vegetables, the side of fresh fruit was gritty like the fruit or cutting board was never washed, we requested well done bacon that came out soft and tasted like the low grade Sysco stuff they use in hospitals, we ordered a side of toast that never came, the corn beef hash would have been fabulous if it was actually cooked thru and sautéed so the potatoes were not a bit short of being raw. This all could have been fixed if our server had stoped by to check on us after the food was delivered. The buss boy was great and stoped at the table frequently to clear empty cups and pour coffee. We shouldn't have even ordered food after we received our drinks. The orange juice came in a plastic glass that had a crack with dirt and grunge very visibly stuck in the crack. That was pretty gross but we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt on the food and ordered anyway because we were starving. We really shouldn't have after being seated in a booth that was drenched in windex and remained sticky all thru breakfast. Entered the restaurant in the latter morning, place was packed.  Thirty minutes later we were seated.  Took another fourty five minutes after ordering to get our food, despite inquiring twice. Each time we were told the food would be out momentarily. When our food finally was delivered to the table we were surprised that it was actually pretty good although the presentation was lacking and portions were smallish.   I had the Breakfast Croissant Sandwich,  scrambled eggs and grilled ham in a freshly baked croissant, with home fries.  My boyfriend had the Hotty Totty Breakfast, biscuit with sausage gravy, two eggs, ham, grits and hotcakes.   The kitchen seems to have it together but the front end of the restaurant is a mess and needs better management.   Food gets 4 stars but service and management gets 2 stars.  Get it together, Short Stacks! read more

My boyfriend and I usually come here because we like going to small hometown places, the service is okay. It's not the greatest in town. However I'm writing this review because of my last meal there. I had a bagel sandwich with scrambled eggs and cheese only. When my food came out forty minutes later... the bagel was semi burnt, eggs were clearly over done and omelette style not scrambled. First experience. Pros: online ordering was easy and SS provides a pickup and delivery timeline that is very accurate. The red potato's were excellent. Grits were okay and hash browns were delicious. Cons: The eggs over easy were browned on the outside as in cooked on too hot a surface. The Cajun Breakfast had very rubbery Andouille Sausage that would not cut with the plastic knife utensil.
