The venue boasts a retro counter, cozy booth seating, and numerous tables, making it an inviting spot for folks of all mobility levels. Although we aren't physically challenged, the easy navigation impressed us. The abundant windows let in a flood of sunlight, perfect for those with vision challenges. When we arrived, the place was pleasantly quiet, but by the time we left at 8:15 AM, it turned into a bustling hub! Ah, the magic of daylight savings--proof that a week later, everyone's still waking up at the crack of dawn for cracked eggs! Service: Upon entering, we were greeted with the freedom to sit wherever our hearts desired--a rare treat! The staff was plentiful, with servers, runners, and bus staff dancing around like a well-choreographed musical number. Our main waitress, Payton, was exceptional--accommodating and patient, especially since it was our first visit. Each time we needed extra napkins or a coffee refill, staff members swiftly responded as if they had been trained to anticipate our needs. Everyone radiated friendliness--no disgruntled faces here! I decided on the Taylor Ham pork roll, complete with cheddar and a fried egg, all nestled in a toasted croissant, accompanied by crispy hash browns. Let's just say, my taste buds were throwing a party! As for my husband, he ordered a Swiss omelette with home fries. He described it as "underwhelming," but I suspect it was simply a texture issue; I make my omelettes a bit fluffier and filled to bursting, while Southern Kitchen opts for a thinner, crepe-like style. Despite his mixed feelings about the omelette, the hash browns won his heart, and the coffee was served hot and flavorful--essential for any successful breakfast outing! We were greeted by a host and seated this place is very southern style hospitality where you would spend time with family and friends. I ordered the Benny with eggs and southern gravy and my husband ordered biscuits and gravy .. I didn't really like the breakfast I took one bite , my husband loved the extra gravy the waitress was very attentive and courteous asked and I told I was trying something new and I didn't like it she asked if I wanted anything else I said no I'm ok .. Another very nice lady came over and said we took it off your bill . She didn't have to do that . I was hit with southern hospitality again and you don't get that much anymore .. yes I would come back and try more items on the menu . An "old time diner" feel. First, the staff was wonderful. From the owner, Kimberly (who was expediting and directing the servers) to our outstanding waitress, Sheri, everyone was friendly and helpful. The whole staff kicked in for a really cute Happy Birthday celebration at a nearby table. Again, we were really impressed. The food was terrific and the portions are large. Sheryl's Veggie Omelette was really stuffed with vegetables and her portion of hash browns was quite large as well. I ordered the "Country Biscuit" specialty. It included three large scrambled eggs, two strips of bacon, one sausage patty and a large, fluffy biscuit covered with a rich, savory sausage gravy. Came here for breakfast. Service was okay. Big portions but bacon was limp and sausage patty was like a hockey puck, with a comparable flavor profile . Biscuits were fluffy and the gravy tasty. Lots of seating, clean and food comes out fast. Given other options, I'd consider passing, but if you like traditional diner food with large servings at a fair price and you want it fast, by all means come here, but avoid the bacon and sausage. read more

I'm not local and that's a good thing because I'd be 800lbs eating here daily! We stopped in with a group of 6 after an early morning dive at Blue Heron Bridge. Up since 4:30a and finally eating around 10:20a, I was hangry to say the least. We all were. The moment we stepped in, the welcoming warmth was felt and my hangriness devolved slightly to hungry. We were seated shortly after arriving and our server was just as pleasant as could be. Back to the 800lb comment, I wanted to eat everything on the menu though I decided on a southern Benny. Now I'm an eggs Benedict-aholic. I like to try them at any new place I visit for breakfast but this was their take on it and you HAVE to try it. I've been coming here on and off for 20+years went this morning. The 3 stars are for the waitstaff they were friendly and efficient thank you to them. Ordered catfish I don't think it was catfish. Everyone's eggs were a weird color of bright yellow, the hash browns were over cooked and tasted like rancid old grease the toast was chewy and the size of it super small. Food did come out quickly. I've passed this spot so often and always it was closed. It seems I unfairly assumed it was out of business. This morning my pop sent me an article to read about Southern Kitchen and I was so suprised that I had been wrong all these years. I decided today I would go and give it a try. I arrived to find a restaurant packed to the gills and people waiting outside and inside for tables. Apparently I had been very wrong. Not only was Southern Kitchen open, but by all appearances it was also a very popular food destination. The counter is open seating so rather than wait, I opted to grab an open spot at the counter. Debbie came right over and offered me up a piping hot cup of some of the best coffee I've ever had. Super friendly Phil came and took my order, the ubiquitous "Northern Sandwich" sounded interesting, so I gave it a try. Two eggs on a Kaiser roll, with Taylor ham and cheese, served with hash browns, home fries or grits. The sandwich was quite large and piled high with yummy goodness. Cheesey and slightly salty from the savory ham and just the right propoption of eggs. It was wonderful. The hasbrowns were crisped just right. Fork tender, but crunchy. All in all it was a great experience and one I plan on repeating as often as my waist line allows. The restaurant is quite large inside and there are plenty of table and servers. Still it was filled up pretty much to the max. Southern Kitchen is definitely worthy of a visit and I'm fairly confident you will have a great experience. read more

Is it because it was a take-out and not a dine-in that old food is being served, ...the price is the same either way.
