Not sure why this got rated on average 3.6 stars as I would say the food is good diner food with folks who are attentive & friendly while you are a guest. The place has been an institution in NPB, FL since I lived in PBG back in the late 70's. Was down visiting my brother & had some time and decided to go back to Debra's Place and relive some of my past memories. Place is basically the same with new owners. I had the ham steak with eggs & hash browns which was cooked perfectly. My wife had the biscuits & gravy with scrambled eggs which she advised were very good! Delicious food. I sat at the high top counter and it really has that genuine diner feel, which I really enjoyed. The service is great. I sat down at the restaurant at about 1:30 pm, not realizing Debra's Place closes at 2 pm during the week. Yelp advertises 3 pm. That should probably be fixed. I ordered a turkey and ham club sandwich, which was superbly made and very tasty. I definitely would love to come back and try some of their other menu items. The pancakes look epic. My sister and I went in today for breakfast but didn't stay long! We were greeted by sour looks when walking in by the staff, and waited 15 minutes to see if anyone would get us started! Debra's Place is a small diner type place for breakfast and lunch. 5 or 6 booths and a counter. At 10:30 AM it was busy and so the problem. We ordered simple breakfast fare, eggs, toast, potatoes grits. My eggs were wrong (over easy not scrambled)and I got oatmeal not potatoes. They brought my potatoes pretty much after I was done. Asked me if I wanted coffee and never came back. Eventually had to get up and get a refill at the counter. Basically if you sit in a booth and not the counter you become an afterthought. All the service was behind the counter. So if you dare to go, sit at the counter. Maybe we caught them at a bad time but there are so many breakfast places to choose from in and around Palm Beach Gardens I will not be giving it another go. read more

There are some places that you should go to the back room or bathroom before eating there. First impressions were not good so I should have trusted my instincts better. When we arrived there were no tables so I thought that was probably good. Until the people finished literally had to shout and flag down someone just to pay. Sign says wait until we clean tables to sit. So we waited. And waited. I think the owners son was the one delivering food and cleaning tables. He didn't have the sense to wipe the table and kept calling back to the back...mom....mom. After waiting too long, someone finally takes our order. Not sure how you mess up a breakfast order but they didn't get it right. Then I had to use the restroom. Absolutely gross. How in the f$&@ does a restaurant have a license to sell food with such filth anywhere in the establishment. Ridiculous. If they don't clean the bathrooms I can't imagine what the food prep and kitchen area must be like. I also am not one to leave bad reviews very often as I know it can affect peoples business but I have to post bad reviews when the owners deserve it. Whew. Bad bad bad. read more

A Hidden Gem with Incredible Energy and Flavor This little hole-in-the-wall diner completely surprised me! As soon as we walked in, the energy hit me -- amazing vibes from the music and the art within seconds. Every TV was playing something different and nostalgic, from classic shows to old movies, which added so much charm. We were greeted by Hope, and she was an absolute doll. After our meal, another server named Jimmy stopped by just to say hello and chat for a bit -- both of them were warm, genuine, and full of positive energy. The food was absolutely delicious. I usually stick to the same thing every time I go out, but I overheard other guests raving about different dishes, and now I can't wait to try something new every time I visit. I visited Debra's Place for breakfast. The dining room was very humid with a noticeable smell, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. The biscuit was light and the sausage gravy had good flavor. The eggs were standard, the hashbrowns were well seasoned, and the sausage was fine but not memorable. Service was friendly, but not particularly memorable. Overall, the food was average and the presentation was lacking. With improvements to the atmosphere, presentation, and food quality this spot could be much better. For now, it's a convenient stop for locals, but there are better breakfast options within a short drive at the same price point. read more

So yes, it's a three star place but in the GOOD kind of way. It's an old school diner, very small, in a Florida strip mall. The menu isn't overly large with breakfast and lunch items served until they close in the afternoon. While I considered a cheesesteak as a post-drive to Fort Lauderdale treat, my friend and I split the pancake breakfast that came with two kinds of meat, eggs, two pancakes, toast and a side dish for around $11. It was plenty of food. The servers were friendly and efficient. My husband will love its "hole in the wall" charm and low prices, so we will return for sure! read more

The pancakes are the size of hubcaps. I don't think there's much else to say after that. Really good food, generous portions, but a staff that's not very friendly. Still overall, as long as the foods good, it doesn't matter to me about anything else. Also, get there early and prepare to wait. It's a very small place. read more

Found this breakfast joint that is adorable and open till 3 PM every day... working late nights I always like to find an all day breakfast spot that hits the spot when needed. What a great greasy spoon my husband and I found this weekend! Looking for a quick, cheap, sit down breakfast and found this great whole in the wall off Northlake on the north side. With a massive menu and great prices you can't go wrong with anything you get! We split the Heart Special and got a side of gravy and it was plenty for the both of us! The Jens' & Denise's waitresses have such great work ethics. They are seriously so busy, and they go and go, but they are very warm and friendly. I found this place roughly two months ago, and I have been meaning to do a review. They truly deserve it and the cooks consistently do a wonderful job. The food is delicious. My favorite dish is the country fried steak and my husband loves it too, so we share it. The home fries are cooked well with grilled onions and peppers (must ask upon request). Normally, it's served plain. It's a small restaurant, but the holes in the walls are usually pretty good! I'm a little nervous about giving this place so much praise. It will get way too crowded and difficult to find seating, but I had to do it as they deserve, and many local businesses can learn something about this place. Thank you, Debra's team ! I've been going here for years. Usually early for breakfast. I really didn't notice the ownership change. But pricing is almost random. The women who have been here for years readily make changes at no charge. The one guy behind the counter -Jimmy?- charges for everything aka cart I usually her eggs toast and coffee. No meat. So he charges me for eggs plus toast plus coffee. But if I skip toast and add oatmeal it's less. And now poached eggs are an up charge. The music is way too loud for early mornings read more

All booths open except 1 with 2 diners (9 total diners). Ordered 2 eggs over easy, grits, WW toast and coffee (no protein). SERVICE: Noticeably long time to get order (I did not time it). Server dismissive. FOOD: Food lukewarm. Grits (runny/ thin/watered-down). I mix my eggs with the grits and couldn't pick it up with a fork. Entire plate NOT hot - must have sat for a bit b4 it was delivered to me (they weren't busy). When server came to collect finished plate, asked me, how was it? I replied it was not hot. She said nothing, turned around, printed my receipt and walked away. I wasn't looking for a discount, but an, "I'm sorry about that, give us another try?" would have been a good foot forward. People often say to me, How can you screw-up breakfast? I always rattle off experiences like this. Maybe bad day? Place was empty. Wait for food; aren't grits usually already made? Maybe they had to pick, shuck and mill the corn? 2 eggs and toast. I only went there because my first choice was closed for vacation. STAY AWAY. Had two meals here today, my first and my last. This is either the worst businessperson ever or they're trying to win an award for how to charge extra for everything they can. First the coffee was luke warm, the fruit was inedible, you get one piece of toast (as long as it's white or wheat, others cost extra), and the eggs are extra small. They charge extra for everything and anything especially if you pay by credit card. 4% surcharge for CC tells me that this owner is either too stupid to price his product appropriately or just thinks it's ok to tack on more costs for anything he can. Bottom line there are many many options nearby that you don't have to subject yourself to this mediocrity and abusive pricing practices. read more

Certainly a difference between prior owners and new owners!! Restaurant is spruced up and almost attractive for the better! Was there about 9am and empty. Should have known. Ordered eggs, sausage, home fries and rye toast. Food was delivered to table in reasonable time. Plate looked appetizing. First thing noticed was sparse serving of home fries. Potatoes were decent as were the eggs, sausage and toast. As I was ready to pay the bill, noticed that the check was for more than the menu price. Asked what the difference was, informed that there was an up charge for rye toast ($1), I guess. At that rate the excess revenue generated on a loaf of bread is about $20, no wonder they could afford to redecorate! For me, less is not more (home fries) and more is just more. Never have been charged an up charge for two pieces of bread. In this case more is just ridiculous - next salt and pepper will be the next charged item. Wonder we're all the previous customers have gone??? read more

Unassuming little breakfast/lunch spot near the intersection of Northlake and Prosperity Farms, located in the plaza with the used books and comics store. I honestly can't believe in all the years I've driven past this plaza that I haven't stopped in before. The restaurant is small and features counter seating (stools) along one side and booths to accommodate up to 4 people along the opposite wall. We got a booth without a wait around 930am on a weekday and had drinks and good within about 10 minutes, maybe less. The service was very fast. Overall, I'd say they've got a "classic" dinner type breakfast menu. I peeked at the lunch menu, which includes North Carolina style BBQ which I'd like to come back and try another day. All in all, I was pleased with the food I ordered (two eggs with hash browns, smoked sausage, and toast) and the service was speedy. Solid 4 star breakfast. read more
