12:30om, 3/18/2026 Ambience = Steady, lunch crowd in the bar. Yet not phonetic or chaotic. Good, chill vibe. 4-5 high top tables for two. At the bar- nice personal space and hooks for purses. Nice place to perch my feet and store my obnoxiously long golf umbrella. Perfect atmosphere for a chilly, rain date lunch with spouse. Balance of business professionals, "ladies who lunch", and a few couples. The bar reminds me a of nicer Las Vegas resort hotel bar. One TV showing Golf TV. Food = We've eaten at J.Alex since their soft open moons ago. The dishes are always consistent quality. Today hub's was jonesing for a French dip. I was craving their Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich. We both order their shoestring fries. We're slowly enjoyed each other's company and our lunches. We immensely enjoyed our meals. Service = Good. Our bartender didn't offer his name, and we weren't on our game to ask his name. However, he did a good job. He quickly came over and put down black napkin placemats with napkin rolled utensils and offered water while we skimmed the menu. Beverages were served quick. Food order quick and complete. We never had to ask for extra sides as he brought them all out with the meals- ketchups (If you like an abundant serving, ask when you place your order. They use small 2 oz stainless steel ramekins.), horseradish sauce, a side of blue cheese (to dip my fries in ), and my Nashville hot sauce on the side. Check came quick too. We ask and learned that they do not offer a Happy Hour. However, they offer very large pour martinis with a side car waiting for you for the price of one. He said late afternoons they have very happy and loyal regulars! We've been dining at "J.A." since their soft open many moons ago. They have always offered well trained staff. We've been here as parties of two, parties of up to 8, and as times with infants, to toddlers, to elementary school age peeps to seniors who many need a little extra consideration with seating. J.Alexander's has always offered great service. However, for some with low vision may find the back of the restaurant a little dark. Bathrooms are clean. There is an outside, screened over bar area as well. My extra bullet points: Value = Yes! High quality, consistent food, great staff and fair price for the experience. The BIG question: Will we return? Yes! We are every other month "regulars". During COVID, they were able to pivot their business to keeping their doors up keeping people employed and offered service to the community. HIGH GIVE! We'll be back. Cheers! Tip: Be sure to make reservations especially during holiday weekends, PGA golf classic weekends and "Season" for tables. If they're booked, Bonefill Grill is directly next door as "back up". Get there early for parking as the lot fills up fast for dinner with several restaurants sharing the same lot. We didn't have a reservation, the dinning room looked pretty empty but the wait was still about 45 mins. Once seated our order came out quickly (which is always a plus). Went with friends that never been; Everyone enjoyed! We started with the shrimp app.. not a fav never again, it was pieces of shrimp costed, deep fried with sauce, I liked the shredded cabbage. Dinners were great I had veggie burger, Husb had tuna salad both were yummy. Friends had burrata with heirloom tomatoes, the swordfish special and the French dip. Alexander's *no tablecloths *I asked for my salad to be split with the person across from me & the waiter brought out the salad with an empty plate... *I asked for NY prime medium well & it was well-done. Great experience we called before hand you cannot make an over the phone reservation but they said it was a 30 minute wait but when we got there we got sat immediately our server was Kristy and she was amazing 10/10 the food was so good and the drink was amazing too also our server gave us a piece of carrot cake for Mother's Day which was so sweet I will 100% be coming back when I get the chance! read more

Upon being seated, we were greeted by a very pleasant young woman with a ponytail (I forgot her name) who explained that she was not our waiter but would be happy to grab us a round of drinks as we peruse the menu. This woman ended up being super helpful throughout our meal as our waiter often disappeared. Our table ordered a cheeseburger, Alex's salad with salmon, and the Jacks chicken finger platter. All of them were delicious. The cheeseburger was perfectly cooked medium, served with thinly cut fries. The chicken fingers were great, not too bready and served with crispy fries and Cole slaw. Alex's salad was a typical salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, bacon, croutons and cheddar. It was served with a champagne vinaigrette dressing on the side. We added salmon to it and it was a great, light meal. Everything was great and would order all of the dishes again. We were thankful for the girl with the ponytail as she picked up the slack where our waiter was otherwise occupied. read more

Really disappointing experiences with the staff at the entrance. They are dismissive, unfriendly, and consistently make interactions uncomfortable for no apparent reason. There is a noticeable lack of basic professionalism from the moment you walk in. This has been the case on multiple visits, so it's clearly not just an isolated bad day. This is a nice and clean restaurant with very good staff. I would give them 3.5 stars but that's not an option. We ordered the ahi tuna salad, French Dip, spinach queso dip, along with their nicest bottle of Pinot Noir. The ahi tuna pieces are very tiny, the salad had more crunchy strips than lettuce, the watery queso dip with barely any spinach. I do not blame the servers, chefs, or managers...it's obviously their new ownership squeezing every last ounce of profit out of my family as their customer. Yes, yes yes! Went for lunch. It was so good. My new boss and I had the fish dip which I believe was salmon. He wasn't too impressed, but I really liked it. The service was great, and the food for lunch was very reasonably priced however I did go for lunch not dinner so please check the menu for pricing. I had the French dip with shoestring fries and it was so good. Absolutely would recommend Recommend. The ambience is great for a work function, intimate dinner and even family however I would discourage from bringing a little kids because of the price prices for the menu. Another visit to Jay. Alexander's last night and I must say their crab cakes are my favorite in Palm Beach. There is absolutely nothing wrong with those crab cakes, they are perfection! I am a no breading involved type of crab cake, girl, and the very light Panko breadcrumbs on the outside are exactly the crispy crunch that's needed for the inside that is all wrapping and nothing else. The sauces they provide to accompany. The crab pigs are fantastic, and they are very generous with the size of the crab cakes. That has become like go to dish at J Alexander's these days. We of course had the carrot cake, the chocolate cake, which is so rich. I really appreciate the fact that there are no sprinkles, no chocolate chips, just chocolate cake and delicious rich, chocolatey, fudgy, icing chocolate sauce, and the perfect scoop of vanilla ice cream to go along with it. We also had the Cajun ribeye, which was on the specials menu, as well as the smoked salmon dip that was on the specials menu. There's a Thai chopped salad there and then the regular steak Maui, which is their house ribeye two side sides of there not your average macaroni and cheese, which is always fantastic. And we tried the brussels sprouts as well that was one of the special vegetables for the evening. The brussels sprouts were OK nothing special about them roasted with salt and pepper. The mac & cheese delivered as always :-) the salad Was fantastic as always. And the Cajun ribeye was seasoned nicely. There was minimal spice though so if you're a blackening Cajun season kind of person like me it was a little bit underwhelming, but still delicious. Anyway, all these choices were really good. The smoked salmon dip was pretty mild Yeah fantastic dinner. This was such a delightful dinner. J. Alexander never disciplines! This restaurant has potential, but unfortunately is always tripped up by piss poor service. Every time I go there are service problems. That is why I've stopped going. It is crowded inside typically and it's not unusual that your table in the area around it will be dirty. The food is generally good, even though sometimes dishes are executed poorly. Couple of coworkers and I came here for dinner. Luckily I made a reservation and I highly recommend it cause it got a little crazy in there. The waiter was a younger guy and fairly friendly. He made jokes here and there as well. Now my coworker ordered a pretty little drink and said it was good, she couldn't remember the name. I went with a beer but when it came out in a little raggedy can I said no thanks! Not for $8 bucks. I ended up ordering absolutely nothing healthy, slab of ribs with loaded baked potato and their mac & cheese. The sides came out piping hot. The potato was really good and while they do openly express their mac & cheese is different and I had no expectations besides wanting it to taste good, it was not something I would rush to order again. Something in it was weird, I couldn't identify it. Now the bad part, those ribs were served to me cold/borderline room temp. Like really, they didn't even look warm, let alone hot enough for serving. I didn't send them back, just decided to eat it later after having a couple of the cold ribs. Uncharacteristically, I didn't take any pics of my coworkers' food but they said their meals were good. The only star is for the very well trained pleasant and professional waiter we had. We've been here several times, this wasn't the first train wreck but definitely the worst. What I've noticed? in the summer things go well. But in the winter...tonight's dinner was a doozy. First off parking is awful. And forget it if you need a handicap spot. A 730 reservation, but we still sat. Ok fine. We were told off the bat that they were out of artichokes. After the drinks came, we were told that tuna bombs were also out. (They had just served one at another next to us too). Ok fine. But the Pinot Grigio they served my mom was not chilled enough and had an off flavor. (The waiter made it right with a smile). Dinners took a long time and when they got there the steak was overcooked, the fish was overdone and the cute little fries were chewy. They offered my husband another kabob but who wants to wait? The icing on the cake was the women parked at the handicapped ramp when we tried to leave, so my limited mobility father had to walk out into the road. They've run out of things we've ordered so many times now I've lost count. It's clear that while they know how to groom staff, between the shortages they have and the overcooked food they have no clue how to run a kitchen of the caliber they boast. read more

A restaurant will sometimes run out of nightly specials. It happens, but when a restaurant consistently runs out of popular regular menu items, that's just bad management! When a restaurant consistently overcooks items like steak or seafood, that's again, bad management. We'd been there in the past, and had decent meals, but no more. We gave them a second and even a third chance, and each time, desirable regular menu items are sold out early in the evenings. On two occasions, a steak order was cooked beyond burnt! Someone is failing to supervise the kitchen for both ordering and food prep. The wait staff is well trained and pleasant and tries hard to apologize and make up for the failures, but too little, too late. read more

We have loved this restaurant for years and they have the best food and the Maui Ribeye is hands down the best! However, they need to get rid of their horrible hostess, the first person and first impression of the restaurant is the worst. We went for my birthday last night. My family and I walked in to check in for our reservation and we were not greeted whatsoever. We didn't even get a hello, a friendly greeting or even a smile. For my kids to notice how rudely we were treated, it was bad. The hostess shoved us to the side and said "just wait over there." I couldn't believe this was a hostess representing such a fine restaurant. It made me feel like I was at McDonald's. Once we sat down, our waiter made up for her rude demeanor. Attempted to eat here - incredibly disorganized host desk. Originally told they could sit our 5-top, but if a chair was put on the end of a booth. The host left and about 5 minutes later another lady came to us and said, sorry can't put a chair at the end of the table, you have to squeeze in a booth - we were fine with that.
