Came here after a doctors appointment. We were able to be seated right away and our server took care of us quickly. It is set up like an old diner, very open and bright. We ordered a waffle special, which normally comes with one egg so I got an extra egg. My husband got the Benedict's. My friend kept gushing about his perfectly cooked, over-easy eggs from this cafe, so I had to go. It's true that many restaurants and diners are not consistent with their eggs, making them either runny with the whites undercooked, or too well done with no runny yolk. We went on a weekend morning, but it wasn't crowded as it was 8:30 am only. Our server was really great -- funny, cheery, and helpful (I wish I had gotten her name). I ordered a Florentine omelet and added green peppers to the Swiss, tomato, and spinach it comes with. My friend ordered the Western omelet, but we specifically asked that the omelets not be overcooked. We didn't want them to be brown on the outside as that means overcooked and dry. The server said not to worry. Well-done home fries and Rye toast were my sides. It was all very good, and the omelet was steaming hot, which I love. I find far too much tepid food served in restaurants. Hot, hot food makes a big difference in my experience. The portions were good and I boxed up a half to take home. Notes: No bottled water, so my table mate walked next door to Trader Joe's to buy a bottle while waiting for our food. That's another plus -- you can shop afterwards. No real maple syrup. Our server said she regularly pushes for the them to get the small bottles, but so far no change. You can always walk to Trader Joe's for that too. read more

In the mornings when there's a wait and every seat is filled, service suffers, but be patient - staff is competent and many have been there a while, but they're stretched. For what it is, this place is pretty decent. The food was hot and service was good. They were very busy on the weekend but we didn't have to wait to be seated. The French onion soup is great and I'd highly recommend it. The breakfast itself was nothing special and pretty plain. At least the bacon was crisp. The French dip was good but I prefer mine more rare and this was medium well. It was dry like brisket too. At least the au jus seasoned and rehydrated it. I'll come again if I'm in the area and in the mood for breakfast or lunch. Although I am sure there's better restaurants for a higher price. read more

Breakfast at Flamingos. A familiar staple when I ya see to visit my mom many years ago. This restaurant has been around a long time. It has withstood the competition of chain restaurants which I think speaks for itself The menu is a typical menu for a diner. They are however willing to make changes or substitute when requested. We had the best waitress. I really wish I knew her name because she deserves to shout out. While many had their hair in pony tails this woman was the friendliest most patient waitress. Dropped in as a three top for late lunch. Seated right away. Waitress was pleasant the menu was expansive with so much to choose from. I went withe the bunless Flamingo burger (mushroom, onion, swiss) and coleslaw. Two more cheeseburger and fries. Everything was hot, cooked perfectly,delicious and plentiful. Hello, Young Black Woman here. I'm not one to write a negative review because my experience may not be your experience so I feel it's necessary to just let it be. But this is for MY PEOPLE. If you know you know. My boyfriend and I pulled up to what seemed like a sweet establishment to get breakfast before we ended a little staycation. It's Mother's Day, we had been to two different establishments but due to the long wait for both we decided to find another place. That landed us at Flamingo Cafe which only had a 10-15mins wait which was perfect! We were called in 10 mins. The Gentleman at the front who may be the owner/manager told us we could sit at the booth in the back which we did. Our waitress an older white woman tall, thin build and blonde hair came by nearly immediately to take our drink order. I asked for coffee. When the coffee was brought back I simply asked if there was a non-dairy creamer to which the waitress replied you can use honey to make it sweeter. I replied I didn't want it sweeter but lighter ( the table already had sugar) the waitress responded nearly the same I know what you asked for, we don't have a non-dairy creamer so use the honey like most people do. To my surprise I wasn't sure why she became so hostile/ aggressive. I immediately felt uncomfortable, so when my boyfriend asked if I wanted to leave I said yes. I asked to speak to the manager/owner about my grievance on the way out to which he responded that he didn't believe there was an issue because as I was speaking to him in that moment he felt I was being aggressive . That irritated my soul because that seems to be the go to for every non- Black person. There I stood speaking to him plainly, calmly and with clear rational. I suppose he got what he wanted b/c after saying that comment my boyfriend and I left. One thing I can't stand is being disrespected but being disrespected due to my complexion is wild to me b/c it's not something that can be changed. Everyone deserve the right of dignity and it's so hurtful when it's not a given b/c you happen to be in a space occupied by mainly white people. I hope that the waitress and the gentleman who may be the owner ( poss Hispanic) who felt so inclined to berate my lived experience in their establishment choose to do better, why? Simply b/c I choose to believe you're better than prejustice and racism. read more

We found this spot for breakfast when we were walking around the strip mall. I would say it was a pretty good find. Its a standard little cafe with a few specials on the board. The waitresses were all super friendly (5 stars for them) and the food was good. I ordered an over medium egg with tomatoes and an english muffin. (Having tomatoes as a side option for breakfast is a great idea!) The goal was to build a breakfast sandwich, which would have worked okay, but the egg was a little more over easy and the whites were still a little runny, so it wasn't my favorite. My friend ordered the special spinach and feta scramble with grits and a biscuit. The scramble was pretty good, not overly salty, and feta heavy. The biscuit was sliced in half and toasted, not what you typically see, but we were fans. The grits were also pretty good, especially with some pepper and hot sauce. In the time we were in there, there were quite a few people who came in for carryout. This seems like a great place to go to if you need some quick breakfast. read more
