Finally was able to check out shorehouse after a while! Parking was okay - there's street side parking otherwise you may need to go a couple blocks for parking in the residential area. Highly suggest Yelp Waitlist as the lines will get super long during peak times. Unfortunately, although the menu looked very delicious, the items were just okay. Service was also just okay - our server had actually forgotten one of our items and didn't check up on us. Angus short rib and hash brown potato cakes: the short rib themselves was a mix of fatty and lean pieces and pretty plain. There wasn't really a flavor I picked up nor was there even salt. I did however find the salt in the hash brown cakes as they were super salty. Mango pancakes with granola and guava syrup: the dish was just plain pancakes with different toppings. I had wished there was more flavor incorporated into the pancakes themselves. The dish also advertises guava syrup but we were only provided regular syrup. After sitting down, I noticed that the window was actually quite dirty, with a couple flies buzzing around. Not the end of the world, but I definitely would have appreciated more cleanliness. Daughter ordered a Chai latte and she seemed to enjoy it. My coffee - meh - it was okay. As for the food: Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey Cured Bacon Benedict (B): Very interesting mix of textures. I've never had a benedict with such a crunchy base! The egg was cooked almost perfectly (maybe just a touch over), and the mixture of the egg yolk, bacon & crunchy risotto was tasty & interesting. Very unfortunate that the dish was served colder than it should be, at just a touch above lukewarm. I usually never finish breakfast dishes because of crazy portion sizes but in this case, it seemed a little too light, especially in terms of the size of the crunchy risotto and the two sheepishly small pieces of bacon. The tomatoes tasted fresh. Probably should have went for the unhealthy choice of hash browns but given I didn't ride my bike, I stuck with lower calorie antioxidants as opposed to fried carbs. Norwegian Smoked Salmon, Avocado & a Bagel: I didn't taste this so can't give it a grade, but my daughter enjoyed every bite and commented that "they give you a lot of salmon!" I should have taken a bite of the bagel to see if it was good or not. If in the area, Shorehouse Kitchen would be a good choice for breakfast / brunch. Love this cafe! We were visiting La Jolla for the day and found this place on YELP, of course! It was wonderful. Friday morning, around 9am and they had plenty of room for us right away. The coffee is sooooo good! I was very happy with it. I ordered the Monterey Omelette and a side of crispy bacon. It was all delicious. Hubby got the carnitas Chilaquiles and he loved it. Definitely will come back. I fell in love with the Maple Breakfast Fried Chicken Sandwich. My group ate outside and the weather is nice; you get a nice salty breeze of La Jolla. Only con is the mocha latte I had. I had an iced mocha latte, and all the chocolate on the bottom became chunky (but that's because I assume due to the change of temperature in the drink). Our server recommended the risotto and bacon Benedict, she said it was the absolute best thing on the menu. I did enjoy it, but it wasn't a 10/10 for me. The risotto cake on the bottom of the Benedict was crispy but a but overly salty and the strips of bacon were somewhat meager. The poached egg was very nice, but I thought that the hollandaise sauce with the tarragon was too much going on for the dish. It would've been much better with a regular hollandaise. My fiancé had their traditional Benedict and he was quite pleased with it. I wish I would've gone with my original instinct and gotten one of their vegetarian omelettes or the frittata. They all sounded amazing. I loved the fresh squeezed orange juice and I thought the coffee was good as well. To be honest, I was surprised to find such a reasonably priced little spot so close to La Jolla Shores that actually has good food. I still dream of their chilaquiles; the chips crunched, the eggs were sunny side up, the spice was perfect, adequate amount of meat. We walked in as a party of two mid morning. La Jolla has no shortage of fabulous brunch spots. Shorehouse is great because it's a casual spot with large portions and good eats. They have seating both inside and outside. They are able to accommodate large groups and you can join the waitlist online to better time your wait. I've always had great service at Shorehouse, so it's become a bit of a favorite in our rotation. They have savory and sweet breakfast items. The food here was great! The pork in the pork carnitas & poblano cornbread benedict was flavorful and the egg was cooked perfectly. The one thing I'll say is I wasn't really a fan of the texture of the cornbread (I love cornbread in general) in this dish. I wish it was toasted a bit to give more of a comparison in texture. My friend ordered the California omelet with the crispy hash browns. The omelet itself was good but the crispy hash brown was really tough, borderline rubbery rather than crispy. I definitely preferred the breakfast potatoes. The fresh orange juice was so refreshing and so good. My only regret was not ordering a large size of it! The interior is very cute and had a nice vibe. It's definitely a nice place to go enjoy brunch. The one thing is that the food took a really long time to come out and we weren't really there during peak brunch/lunch hours (around 2pm). FLAVORS I TRIED & RANKING: - Seared Salmon Benedict: DELISHHH. I loved the crispy exterior of the English muffin that this was on. The salmon was ON POINT too. The egg consistency was simply amazing, runny but also semi-cooked. Perfection. The Hollandaise was on point too. SERVICE: it was good! Be sure to check-in if you are on the Yelp waitlist otherwise they'll assume you just aren't here. I thought we'd get a text when we were ready but they just removed us, but luckily they bumped us back to the top of the list when I got there.
