Alex and his team have truly made this a Carmichael gem! Everything at Shogun is incredibly fresh, flavorful and they always deliver outstanding service! There's lots of seating for larger groups on the expanded side and more intimate seating in the main dining area. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong! Large portions at great prices! I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints.

We are so thankful to have Shogun Sushi in our neighborhood. The food is always fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious, but what truly stands out is the people. Daniel and Rebecca have consistently been friendly, attentive, and welcoming, even when we are not seated in their sections. On separate occasions, both have shown genuine compassion, care, and a strong sense of community. Most recently, Rebecca made a meaningful impact on our family by praying with us for a loved one going through serious health challenges. Tonight, she remembered us and was genuinely happy to hear that prayers had been answered. Daniel also noticed when we needed a little extra attention and stepped in right away. We also appreciate Alex, who always helps make sure everyone is taken care of, and Andrew, whose creativity always shows in the beautiful and delicious rolls. It means a lot to have a restaurant nearby that not only serves amazing food, but truly cares about its customers and community. Highly recommend!

Very good American-style sushi for the price. My wife and I are very happy this place is in our general vicinity when we're not looking to cook and want something fairly refreshing at a decent price point. Service has always been prompt. Sushi chefs are fun to watch sitting up at the bar. We've had 4 of their rolls, the flaming shrooms appetizer, and the mixed tempura. The rolls were solid, if not spectacular. Lots of sauce. Obviously some super fresh, minimalist style nigiri would be preferable, but you're probably not coming here for that. The mixed tempura was massive! Like way too big of pieces, actually. Overall very good. We'll be back many times.

Definitely the best sushi spot in Carmichael. The inside is modern and maintained really well. The staff and owner Alex running this place know how to serve up some quality sushi and treat guests top tier. This place is definitely the Shogun of sushi.

1st time going here, ordered online from their website, and it was super easy. They fulfilled all my lunch time desires: ready on time, staff was friendly, restaurant was clean, and food (Alaska roll and zig-zag hand roll) was delicious. This will be my new sushi go-to place.

911 was very good 10/10 would recommend

Another great experience! The fish is incredibly fresh and the flavor combinations are on point. We enjoyed some fun sake bombs and, as always, received the best service. A go-to spot for consistently delicious seafood and a great time. Recommend!!!

I'm at a shogun sushi event, which is awesome. The chef Andrew and the owner are here. Super excited to make new rollswhen I get home. The sushi boats they brought out were awesome after the lesson.

We absolutely love shogun! We love seafood and recently moved to the neighborhood. These sushi rolls are EXCEPTIONAL and fairly priced. Shoutout to Andrew, the best sushi chef for his inventive and exceptional flavors. The owner, Alex, is personable and inviting. Such a great ambiance for family and friends. We asked Andrew the chef to make us a specialty roll and it was SPECTACULAR. We are quickly becoming regulars and love supporting this local business. Come try some great food when in the area!

Super nice staff there. Sushi rolls were fresh and so good. Soft shell crabs were special order, not on the menu.

If you enjoy mikuni and the likes and enjoy your rolls, this might not be the place for ya. You want it at fast food speed, yeah unlikely. Nothing wrong with that but stick to mikuni and other random "sushi" spots and skip writing that bad review due to your personal expectations and experiences, or lack thereof. I love food. I travel for food. I use the Michelin stars as a guide and will never call myself a foodie. If I had to explain it, I'm a food connoisseur. I know when I'm here I want the sushi bar so there's no lag time for the nigiri (many steps to eating nigiri but I'll spare ya and timing is crucial) to touch my tongue. The special dishes are always amazing. I have never tried a roll lol. I travel for food and we all know sushi rolls is an American made concept of fast food "sushi". Very mom and pop and possibly understaffed at times but customer flow can also be extremely inconsistent. Let's all have a bit of compassion and be slightly understanding and come for the best real Japanese food in North America (yes I would know I'm a star chaser without a budget) and an authentic experience akin to Japan. It's incredibly reasonably priced and I would easily pay 3x. But at 3x I might need mood lighting haha. Sit at the sushi bar, talk to the chefs, try new things, be open minded and patient, and maybe then you can learn to love this place too.

Came here for dinner a couple of times, the first time I ordered the rainbow roll ($15) which is my barometer for sushi at restaurants. Decently sized, the fish was fresh and the roll was filling. Daughter ordered the ramen ($18) with the red option, which she enjoyed with the plethora of toppings. Dinner the second time, I got the teishoku set with salmon ($21). Two decently filets of salmon came with rice, miso soup, salad, deep fried egg roll and salad. You also get a choice of either croquette or chawanmushi. The chawanmushi was a highlight for me! I missed eating this savory custard when I used to live in Japan. Their version did not disappoint! Instead my mains came out before the appetizers and then my dates came after the appetizers came out. Everything was delicious but I hope that isn't a common habit as it made the meal feel a bit rushed and the waitresses were commenting about how much we ordered and if we could eat it all... everyone was very nice though. A little cold in the actual restaurant but makes sense to keep the fish cold.

I dunno why, I guess maybe not that popular with the local customers, like everything Teriyaki and Sushi and fried Tempura. Everybody has those, but no actual Sukiyaki! So I was happy to see Sukiyaki in the name of this restaurant and see it on the menu! I just wish it was closer to me in Red Bluff and not all the way down here in Sacramento. I was in the area, so I had a chance to stop in. I came with one other friend that was interested in trying the Sukiyaki as well. They offer sushi on the menu as well as all the more common Japanese dishes like Teriyaki. That's kinda like the sweet and sour of Chinese food, it's everywhere. Service was super friendly and I ordered the Beef Sukiyaki and my friend ordered the Chicken Sukiyaki. For sort of an appetizer we ordered some salmon sashimi. Tea to drink for us. The sashimi comes out first. Decent sized portion and the salmon was super tender melt in your mouth like it should be for sashimi. Then our big bowls arrive. My beef sukiyaki smelled wonderful. The chicken sukiyaki was good smelling too, but not as strong as the beef version. They both were super hot, so we needed to let them cool a little. Meanwhile I used my chopsticks and pulled out some of the beef. Blow to cool and tasted it. Wow, this was super good flavor and tender, not all chewy like it could be. The broth was seasoned just right, just the right sweetness and saltiness combined with tofu and veggies. The noodles were cooked just perfect. The chicken version, my friend liked a lot. She's not a big red meat eater like me, so it was good they offered a chicken version. The portions in the bowl were so big, we barely finished and were stuffed. I'll definitely come back here again if I'm in the area. This is way better than Vietnamese Pho that's for sure.
