The sushi is not gourmet but tasty nonetheless. A huge step above grocery store sushi. The rolls are rice heavy and it's good proper sushi rice. They use krab meat not crab. I would say the amount of fresh fish in each roll is average. The fish tasted fresh (no off putting fishy smell.) We ordered the stuffed mushrooms ($5.50). It was tempura deep fried and stuffed with krab meat. Then we got the number 7 ($10) and 9 ($9) sushi rolls. Number 9 is baked. We really liked all of it. This place was such a gem to find! It's takeout only; no problem here busy with back to school and work nights we just wanted something good to grab and go. Found this spot via Yelp friends and it did not disappoint. Rolls for $9, yes I said $9 ! Now most of the time inexpensive sushi is accompanied by improperly prepared sushi rice. For my money, this place is money! It's reasonably priced. Everything tastes as I'd hope and expect it should. So far I've tried #13 which happens to be my favorite. This spot is close to my dentist! Saw a review by a fellow Yelper that convinced me to drop by after I found out I needed a new crown after a visit to said dentist. We came here on a Saturday around 4pm. I have read for a bit that they have good priced rolls. I was sold. Drove around 12 miles each way. No one in line. Later a few came in. I frequent this place often. I still find the sushi to be reasonably priced and quite tasty however the customer service has gone way down hill. The gentleman at the front counter, the younger gentleman with the glasses, who takes the phone orders and works the register has become very short, curt, and rude over the last year and a half. I noticed a few other Yelpers, who left reviews in the last six months, have made references to the lack of customer service as well. I usually phone in my orders. As soon as he picks up the phone his tone is such that it sounds like I'm bothering him by calling in my order. He used to be super friendly and very nice when they first opened but his demeanor screams sarcasm. The last time I was in there and even left a tip he handed me my order just turned his back and walked away without saying a single word to me. He didn't remind me to pick up napkins or utensils or anything else nor are those items included when they pack your order. Not too long ago I ordered three rolls and got about a teaspoon of wasabi. And maybe a teaspoon of soy sauce. I placed my order by phone on another occasion, not too long ago, and barely finished my sentence when he cut me off and said "Okay! What do you want to do with this roll!?" I almost hung up on him; that's how rude he was. I don't even know what he meant by that. I understand that the last two years have been very difficult for businesses but this one, at some point, will find it even more difficult if he continues with his shenanigans. I have to say, this is a place that I will "Roll" into very frequently. And it has got to be one of the most original yet innovative sushi restaurants. And its truly customizable in every form possible; from the protein options to the veggies, and to the add-ons to the sauces. They even carry a nice amount of Udon (Japanese noodle soup) as well as Bento boxes. This is none other than "Roll-n-Go Sushi". Located in a fairly busy shopping center on the corner of Dewey Dr. and Madison Ave. in Fair Oaks, Roll-n-Go Sushi opened its doors back in March 2019. It neighbors smaller businesses such as a California Sun Centers and a Round Table Pizza. And for those who aren't familiar with this area, its in the same center as Safeway and CVS Pharmacy. Parking is usually easy to find even though this is a heavily visited shopping center. I came here on two recent occasions; Thursday 5/9/19 for a to-go order and Saturday 5/11/19 for a dine-in order. Both visits were fairly busy with customers which gives me reason that the 5-star Yelp reviews and food here is worth checking out. Its a simple process much like customizing a pizza or sandwich but with your own ingredients for sushi. The inside is quite spacious and offers ample dining for several parties. There is also a fountain drink station as well as an area to grab chopsticks, napkins, utensils, etc. On my first visit, I ended up getting two rolls. The first was a "One Item" sushi roll. This consisted of shrimp tempura, cucumbers, and avocado. And at $3.50 for my roll, that was an amazingly affordable price. My second roll was a little more elaborate which was a deep-fried roll consisting of spicy crab, shrimp tempura, and cream cheese. And at $6.50, this was also a great deal. I opted for spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce on both rolls. After paying the cashier, I took my two rolls home and much to my amazement, this try looked more like a "party" tray which how huge these sushi rolls were! I almost think to myself, I paid less than $11 for all this food and any other sushi restaurant would charge a minimum of $20 for this much sushi. As far as the taste, everything tasted fresh and wonderful. The rice was a nice consistency while they did not skimp of the protein choices. And the sauces balanced out very well which each bite. Overall, "Roll-n-Go Sushi" is the real deal. The guys that work here are great and truly enjoy their job by giving new customers (including myself) a whole rundown how their ordering system. This is definitely a great new addition to folks that live in the Fair Oaks/Carmichael/Citrus Heights area. I see myself making a lot more future visits here for my sushi fix! read more
