Can't believe this happened bad waiter service sat us down we ordered then after ordering they sat another couple after we had ordered and gave us our soup and salad and to top it of the couple that came were allergic to sesame seeds and eggs after waiting long time they got served first, next time if the table is closed for more people they should sit them somewhere else instead of us waiting longer and since they were allergic to all that they got served first unbelievable please train your server's not to sit people when the table is closed read more

Shogun Restaurant - Left overs - Sushi Bars Near Me - Pasadena, California

I have been coming to Shogun in Pasadena for over 2 decades, The chef Tree is absolutely amazing. The over head head vents there are very dirty and have no suction, meaning you' will come out so smoked out. I invited the manger to sit in my seat for one minute, of course he refused. This place needs Professional MGMT. Along with going back to there O G menu. They have substituted noodles and potatoes for veggies, folks this is not Teppan as we have learned to love at Shoguns. Cut a long story short I am so disappointed and hurt at the same time. This was one of my 5 top go to restaurants!!! read more

Great greetings from a host, Jessica. I noticed how professional she takes her job; very presentable, knows the menu & is mature than she looks. My waiter Manuel Banuelas showed me has experience. I never asked or needed anything to be removed. I enjoyed his personality; socially & eye communication. Luis never let my water glass be empty, loved that. GM- Daniel was noticed. Walking around checking tables see all had satisfaction. He was professional & could make customers laugh. I love that! HM- was not there today, that's OK. It was special sharing my b-day here. Been coming 35+ years. read more

I came here for my birthday during the week to avoid crowds. The service was amazing, I forgot our server's name but he was incredible. Consistently asked if we needed any help. The atmosphere was great, the tables are not as close together as at Benihana. The food was delicious, my favorite part was the onion soup. It was soooo yummy. Osvaldo was our chef, he always had us laughing. The food was gone as soon as he put it on our plates. Will definitely be returning soon. read more

I took my Dad for Father's Day and I have to give it a 4 for the experience. Their A/C broke down and was so hot. However, our waiter made the experience enjoyable. We received ice waters immediately. I tried a variety of sushi and he got their filet and shrimp plate. I do have to say, the meat is amazingly tender! They brought out the plates quickly even with the heat conditions. I hope to return and actually experience the show in much cooler conditions. read more

The food is good, the service is very good, atmosphere good...it could use a little updating/ deep cleaning. We checked this out for a graduation/ birthday party. We were welcomed and taken care by staff very well. Our chef and server were both very good and had good personalities for this type of place. Food was above average (cooking was good and chef made sure temps were right), the quality may have been able to be better, but most restaurants these days have downgraded a bit and since this was my first time here I have no comparison. Chef even prevented a possible allergy situation, thanks to him! We had a full table and both the chef and server kept us all involved. Pricing was decent for thw amount of people and food we had. We'd go back...keep up thw good work read more

We love our large group adventures to Shogun. The service, especially Mary, is great. She even remembered us 3 months later. The ambiance is festive and the food has something for everyone in our picky group. We always have the best time. read more

If you don't mind the LOUD environment, especially around the grill tables, this is a fun place. The food was good. The service with our particular server was marginal and the pricing is fair. All things considered. I would definitely come here again for a special occasion. Mike M. - Pasadena read more

Shogun Restaurant - Rib Eye and Shrimp! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Pasadena, California

Strange experience... from the wait staff being overheard talking to the sushi counter workers about other tables, for example, "those customers were so cheap," to the host beating on a drum as they walked to me my table and when I asked what this symbolized, she laughed and told me, "I have no idea." The food here is just so-so. The biggest disappointment came from my yakisoba dish, because it wasn't yakisoba at all. The pasta they used is a flat noodle that tasted just like the barilla linguine pasta that I buy at the grocery store and cook with tomato sauce. I asked my waiter about this and they confirmed that the restaurant recently changed the recipe and no longer use real yakisoba noodles anymore, and instead use Italian pasta. What a disappointment! I also ordered the wagyu and lobster. The wagyu was cooked to my liking, but lacked any seasoning and there were a few pieces that were just 100% fat which I do not enjoy. This is not what wagyu is known for and not what I paid a premium for. The lobster was also a tiny portion. For a $27 upcharge, I expected more than the three small chunks I received. The salmon skin hand roll was very nice tasting, although it fell apart almost immediately. The ikura sushi tasted old and didn't have that crisp popping texture that this dish is known for. I was debating weather to try his restaurant or return to Sakura in La Cañada Flintridge and I deep regret my decision to eat at Shogun. My bill came out to about $130 and the only thing I really enjoyed was the rice and onion soup. And although I brought up my concerns to the staff, no accommodations were offered. Go try Sakura instead of Shogun! Although gas prices right now are extremely high, it is worth driving 15 minutes from Pasadena to get a much better experience again Sakura in LCF. *Edit* I am upgrading the review to two stars for the managers professional response. While I appreciate that a lot, I am just not interested in coming back at this time. read more

Outstanding service, amazing food, and the BEST team! Shogun never disappoints, but this visit was extra special thanks to Rika and Chef Daniel. Rika was absolutely wonderful -- warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcomed from the moment we sat down. She checked in at all the right times and made the experience feel effortless and fun. Chef Daniel was incredible. Not only was the food cooked perfectly, but his energy, skill, and interaction made the whole hibachi experience next-level. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared -- easily some of the best hibachi I've had. If you're coming to Shogun, do yourself a favor and ask for Rika and Chef Daniel. They truly made our night and are the reason we'll 100% be back! read more

It's a great place for teppanyaki! The bar area is relatively busy too. The lunch specials are great value. The restaurant is well managed and everything goes smoothly. It can get a little loud in the main dining area but that's to be expected with the large group seating and cooktops. read more

Wow, what has changed at Shogun's? I've been coming here for large family gatherings for over a decade. Last night was a terrible experience. It started when I check in for my reservation, the hostess seemed annoyed and acted like I was interrupting her. In addition to raising their prices, they've made some changes to the menu. The Chef threw down some linguine on the cooking table and add some kind of sauce. It basically was some over cooked noodles with an unappealing flavor. They added whole small potatoes to the vegetables which I'm not sure how that's Japanese cuisine. The vegetables as a whole were not fresh. The steaks they served us never got a sear and were just cooked to a grey. This was a thousand dollar dinner. I think Panda Express could have done better, I know that's Chinese but you get the point. If this had been my first time there, I would never go back. read more

We've dined at Shogun in Pasadena countless times over the years and have always enjoyed it--until this visit. Unfortunately, this was a very bad experience. The fried rice, noodles, and vegetables all tasted extremely salty and just plain off. It was so bad that we couldn't finish the food and ended up taking everything home. We tried reheating it at home, hoping it might be better, but it was still not good and basically inedible. For a place we've loved and supported for so long, this was really disappointing. Sadly, after this experience of being served such poor-quality food, we don't feel comfortable coming back. read more

Osvaldo was our waiter and he did an amazing job. The food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Unfortunately we had rude guests at our table they were being very disrespectful to Osvaldo all while trying to get out of paying.
