Good food and service! Nice place to celebrate birthdays! They added noodles and broccoli and peppers. Ian was a good server. Very helpful

Always good service and good food. Will come back for birthday . Steak and shrimp is good

I've been to Shogun a few times now and it's always such a good experience. Ian, the manager, is super friendly and makes sure everything runs perfectly you can tell he really cares about the guests. Tom, the sushi chef, is incredible! Every roll he makes is fresh and delicious definitely some of the best sushi around. You can tell he puts real effort into what he does. The food is always on point, the vibe is fun, and the service is great every time. Definitely one of my go-to spots! read more

We had so much fun. Food was great, exactly what you expect from a good hibachi place. Drinks were strong. Maybe options also. Chef was great and a good showman. This was out 2nd time and I would for sure go back. Only issue was parking. Ended up parking I. The Trader Joe's lot behind the restaurant and kinda worried about my car while I was eating. But everything was fine in the end ! read more

I dined here with my co-workers and we had Osvaldo as our cook. He did such an amazing job. We really enjoyed his show! Unfortunately, there were guests at the table that were giving him a really hard time, he tried to remediate what they were complaining about but they didn't want it fixed they just wanted to be rude and cause a scene. I felt SO bad for him, he did nothing wrong. The staff was awesome and moved my co-workers and I to a different table so we could finish out our meal. The staff kept apologizing for the rude guests which they didn't have to, and were so kind! We will def. Be back and we will definitely be requesting Osvaldo as our cook. The staff really were amazing and handled the situation like professionals. read more

Food is good. ambience is a great idea to gather with friends and family since the idea is a fun concept. I've come to this restaurant with my with my family of 6. About 11 times in the pass year we randomly visit from San Diego so we really enjoy coming to this place. But tonight. The manager is not make in us coming back. The bass boys where cleaning the table for both groups. Obviously rushing us to get out out of the table. He came over to our table, picking up the last crumbs About 2 to 3 minutes, after the other group left the table. And he said. Guys are you done. .? So as soon as he raise his head and saw that we where Spanish speakers he told us. ya terminaron.? necesito que se levanten, por que necesito la mesa..! ARE YOU DONE.? I NEED TOU TO GET UP, COSE I NEED THE TABLE..! UNBELIEVABLE.!!! read more

Yummy and fresh. Love the veggies. Great choice for celebrations. Learned something about making fried rice

I want to start off by saying this place is a must. Ask for Carlos to be your Chef. He gets down. Overall place is good eating all the time.

Came here after craving a teppanyaki experience for a week. Yes, I was craving the experience! Shogun thankfully was able to seat my party with no problem, it's really good for large parties with eight people to a grill and I would say that if you came here on short notice, they'd be able to accomodate you. If you have less than that, they'll seat you with others We sat with some strangers who were really nice and friendly. Our chef was pretty quiet and didn't do many of the flashier tricks, but for some in my party it was perfect. The standard tricks were done which satisfied my cravings enough. The food was well-seasoned and well-cooked, especially the vegetables! My meat was a perfect medium rare. Prices are a little expensive but standard nowadays. The Shogun fries were the biggest surprise hit, the roasted garlic was perfect. Five stars is for the terrific service we received all night. The servers were so quick, attentive, and friendly. Our plates were cleaned from the table almost as soon as we were done. Would definitely come back to this particular Shogun restaurant. I wonder if there is a way to ask for the flashier chefs hmmm... read more

Came here with family on a busy Saturday night to celebrate my niece's piano recital. There was quite a queue because it was peak dinner time and the place was packed! People out the door. Despite the wait, service and food were amazing! Most notably the attention from the staff and the General Manager, Michael Granados, were impeccable! We felt like VIPs!!! It made the event quite special, to say the least. Will come back! Highly recommend! read more

Had an amazing experience today at Shogun. Gotta say this was the the best hibachi spot I'd been to in a while and the only reason I had to make a post this time was because the service was so efficient and friendly and look at these gorgeous rolls. Since I tend to talk a lot I spoke to the manger Ian who was super friendly and helpful and told him I wanted to thank the staff so special shoutout to the sushi chef Tom and our spectacular server Gilbert. read more

I used to love this restaurant. But they've changed the menu and it's not that good. They added potatoes to the veggies and pasta! Why? I understand things are expensive but this changes the whole meal. It seems obvious you're just trying to stretch the meals. I probably won't be back. read more

We went for Valentine's Day. As expected it was busy but we had a reservation which is wonderful but we did wait 20min after. Once we sat there was a long wait before the waiter came back for drinks, appetizers or taking the order. The chef also took long and this is where were most disappointed. The place it self is not cheap and we did go for the show. The chef seemed very serious and some what annoyed there was no show at all. All he did was cook the food and that is it , the other tables around had music and more to see. In this case if he was not going to do their entertainment while cooking we should have been sat at the bar instead. I get that it is a busy day but this is something that they know in advanced. As customers do and expect their cooking show because it is something that this restaurant is known for and this did not happen with us. Sadly we wont be going back to pay for nothing. read more

Came here for weekday birthday dinner! Try to to reservation so that they know how many cooks they need that day. We got there early but some people had to wait for the cook cause they had to go to all the tables. Our guy, Home Depo was awesome. Ask for him! With the train and the hearts, it was super enjoyable for both adults and kids. We got the fried rice, calamari steak, rib eye, chicken and shrimp. Everything was cooked really well and the fried rice was super good. Nothing was over salted etc. Just keep in mind to not be busy recording the show on your phone! The food will get cold! Eat as they cook. read more

First time going to this location, very friendly and attentive staff. They were always taking empty plates from table, providing refills on drinks. The overall atmosphere was nice, everyone was having a good time. The food was delicious as always, but our cook didn't engage with us, he was just there cooking. So he definitely did not meet the whole experience of dining in front of the Tepoanyaki grill. Other than that everything was on point and we will be going back. read more

The wings was better than the sushi. Drinks was good but had no substance. Restaurant is charming though.

Mary our server was really nice and kept coming to check on to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be coming back!

The service was excellent! The food has improved so much ! Will definitely come back more often . The ambiance has also improved.

We celebrated the 75th birthday of a dear friend of mine's mother at Shogun earlier this year. We all had a great time and our reservation for 10 right when they opened on a Saturday was a memorable one. Just note that your party has to be all present before they seat you. We waited a little while after everyone arrived which was a little surprising since this was right at opening. We were all quite hungry at this point and couldnt wait to be seated. I went with the teppan Shogun combo of rib eye steak & sesame chicken ($16.95)... each combo comes with miso soup, salad with ginger dressing and fried rice. The rib eye was great as i requested it to be cooked medium. The hibachi grilled vegetables that came with it included zucchini, mushroom and onions. I liked it... The sesame chicken was very dry and just had sesame seeds sprinkled on em so there wasnt much to them. I probably would not get that again. Otherwise the rib eye & and mixed vegetables were satisfying. Our hibachi chef was great. He was funny, a good sport and had to deal with our friend who is allergic to everything. She even comes prepared with no-soy soy sauce and an EpiPen!... Our chef was very careful not to cross contaminate the grill with ingredients she may be allergic to. It was very much appreciated. Located in the Hastings Ranch area of Pasadena. This is a nice location with a full bar and a non-hibachi side of the restaurant. Plenty of parking in a shared lot. read more

Food is always delicious here. Pretty consistent. Service is good too. We usually get seated right away, within 10-20 minutes each time we've visited. For being a Saturday night, it wasn't very crowded. We ordered the jumbo shrimp plate with fried rice. The filet and shrimp plate. The chicken plate. The Chicken and shrimp plate. Delicious. Ambiance is your typical tepan aesthetic. Parking is plentiful. We will always come back. Never had a bad experience in all the years we have visited. Cheers! read more

Love taking the family here for food and a show. Good for birthdays too. This is a huge restaurant and I've never had problems with a long wait. Food wise I would recommend steak and scallops and calamari steak. The combos are good, so do a combo of a couple of those items. Comes with a shrimp appetizer so you can skip the shrimp. Definitely go for the fried rice upgrade, you won't regret it. Lunch prices are a great deal, they go until 3pm. read more

Have not eaten at Shogun in a few years. Sign on the door said under new ownership and it was apparent. Prices were obviously higher. Staff seemed unseasoned. The teppanyaki chefs were underwhelming. The food was just okay. Best part of the meal was the fried rice and green tea ice cream. The containers for leftovers were so cheap the juices from the food seeped through into the bag. I don't think I will be returning. Next time I have a craving for teppanyaki I will just have to spend a little more money and eat at Benihana's. read more

Love sitting at the sushi bar! Tom is the best, so is the rest of the staff! I usually go three times a week!

It's the end of an era.... Been coming to this Shogun for over 30 years. Tonight was the first time I went back after taking a break. It was definitely not the same. From the staff to the food, it was off. The staff was unorganized, the food quality and quantity changed, the prices went up, and there were several lulls of wait time.. The server was too casual and we had to wait a long time for the teppanyaki chef to come by, in fact it seemed understaffed. With a lot of time to look around, I saw several full tables, no service, no chefs, and some angry customers looking around for service. My lobster was over salted, the pasta addition is unnecessary, and the portions have whittled down to a few bites (specifically referring to the scallops) My bill was over $300, not including tip, no alcoholic beverages, party of 4. Not all change is good. The change I'll be making is finding a new place to go. read more

The place is nice and clean. Servers are friendly and cheerful. The tables has its own grilled top. The cook is funny . Been coming to this restaurant weekly few years ago .... returning this evening for some sushi. The sushi bar hasn't changed much, it wasn't too busy as the teppan room. Tom and Victor (sushi chef) both made me some delicious sushi- scallops and sweet shrimp sushi are fresh and tasty. I also ordered a yellow tail collar to take home. The service is attentive. Server Shinno is great - making sure i have what I needed to drink etc. overall a nice dining experience and definitely will be back. read more
