The first time we accidentally discovered this store was when we just wanted to go to Star Bucks. We've never been to this store, but we needed sneakers, so we ran in to check it out. That time we were very pleased with the staff. She was 18, and very pleasant and she allowed my kids to spin the wheels. My kids were so in awe when they got two free plastic cups. That experience was so joyous and we told all our friends and some neighbors about how great Shoe Carnival was.
But today, it was a total different experience. COMPLETELY OPPOSITE!! We didn't really needed more shoes, but we figure it doesn't hurt to go since they had an ad on buy one get one free on selected items, and my kids love to spin the wheel at the cashier counter. It's the unknown of what they may get made them wanted to go there. So, we went, with the expectation to spin the wheel.
Lo and behold, the cashier didn't offer it, and so my kids asked why didn't she let us spin the wheel. She said we had to buy three original priced shoes, and/or sunglasses or socks in order to spin the wheel. Needless to say, my kids were disappointed, not to mention that we came all that way in a rainy day trying to cheer them up. The worst of it all, it's that another customer behind us who clearly didn't buy three pairs of shoes got to spin the wheel. The other cashier allowed it. I clearly remember that we didn't buy three pairs of original priced shoes the first time when we were there too, but my kids got to spin the wheel still. I guess it all depends on who you get. Why is this cashier puts such a damper in our shopping experience is beyond me. So, I wanted to ask the other cashier why didn't we get a chance to spin (trying to see what she might say), but that cashier who didn't let us spin quickly went over to her to tell us what she said to us. Whatever your rule is, it should be applied to everyone, every time. It shouldn't be depending on who your staff feels like giving it out at their time or day. Well, today, April 26th, at 3:45-4:00pm, the one cashier certainly didn't want to let my kids spin the wheel even though we asked why, and twice we asked, and she was on a mission to making sure that my kids don't get that spinning chance--she made sure the other cashier to reinstate her rule to us. We didn't buy socks nor sunglasses, nor three pairs of original priced shoes the first time, we got to spin the wheel. And the customer after us didn't either, she got to spin the wheel. Whatever your rule is, it should be practiced in unison or at least post it as your rule next to the wheel.
That gave me a very bad experience today because one cashier gave it, but the one we had purposefully making sure we don't get it. And because of how she was, we decided not to shop there again. I just don't want to buy from a store with employees like her. I only want to be a customer for stores with impartial employees.
I intended to take my children out today in this rainy day to brighten up their day, but instead, their day was dampened by one unjust staff in your store... What is the big deal to allow children in their single digit age to spin that wheel? read more
