I recently visited this shop and was absolutely delighted by their unique selection of gifts. It has such a quaint, charming vibe! I bought a pair of handmade fingerless gloves that I loved--until my daughter "borrowed" them from me! They also have wonderful gift options for kids, like bilingual word cards and books that my family really enjoyed. I couldn't resist picking up a few mugs with great sayings on them, too. This is a very cute store on Elmwood. Across from Spot coffee and Panera bread it is a store that sells just a little bit of everything. It's basically a fantastic place to find a gift for that person that's actually hard to find a gift for. They have cards, premade and some handmade. Some funny, some pretty, some both. There are a variety of "Buffalo" glasses. Tons of jewelry options. Some hand lotions and soaps. Cookbooks Some clothing for babies to adults, trendy adults to be sure. Knickknacks. More. This was an interesting shop in a lot of ways and I came away from it with very mixed feelings. In terms of decor, the attention to detail in this place was kind of crazy. Every metal piece, every shelf, felt custom. In terms of the overall store, I wasn't the biggest fan of it. There were so many things, crammed in such a small space, the shop felt like I was stuck in the most expensive episode of hoarders ever. The whole place was a little overwhelming and a lot expensive. They have an excellent selection of handmade jewelry, soaps, lotions, stationary, decorations, clothing, dishware, wine glasses and picture frames. They have a lot of locally made Buffalo-themed gifts, which I absolutely love! They also have beautiful Christmas gifts during the holiday season. This store should probably be called "EVERYTHING OVERPRICED". It does have some nice stuff but way overpriced. I am a shopaholic and i'll spend the $ if it's worth it, nothing in there i've ever seen is ever reasonably priced. I actually skip the store now whenever i do my elmwood village shopping down the strip. There are so many other stores around that have cute and reasonably priced clothes and accessories, Atelier (Italian boutique) is my favorite, others include Clutch, Plum Pudding, Urban Clothing (make sure to check out the sale racks!) and Positively Main St - which has some really cool stuff for amazing prices, great place to go to for funny little presents or stocking stuffer type items. Anyway, my recommendation would be to stay away from "Everything Overpriced", unless you have time and money to waste away... read more

Everything Elmwood has served me well as a great stop for gifts. I come from a gift-giving culture (Russia), where gifts are expected if a friend invites you over for dinner so it's in my blood to give something small where I can to show my appreciation. This little store on Elmwood (and there's another in Snyder) makes it not only easy, but cute and fun as well. In what way? Well, they have a great selection of gift items, from jewelery, soaps, oils, chocolates, ornaments, glasses, the typical fare along with great gift cards and magnets. You can put together a great little gift package of soaps, cards and chocolates for under $25 and they will wrap up your gift for free and give it some flair! My only qualm with that is that they refused to use my gift wrap for some stuff. I get it -- they have their own process for wrapping, but I once had a gift that required super girly gift paper as a gag for one of my friends, but the gift shop across the street (Positively Main Street) was able to oblige and help me out for that one. Their soap is amazing by the way. Sure, it was $10 but I never heard the end of how great it made my girlfriend's skin and how it lasted for months. A few suggestions I would have: try something new -- organize your gifts by personality type and be a little more flexible with the gift wrapping. Made it into Everything Elmwood today and was so happy I stopped in! There's obviously a lot of effort put into curating items for this shop, with a very wide variety of goods that are perfect for any gifting occasion, or just finding a funky little something for yourself. The wide variety of goods are spread out in displays loosely grouped by genre - a section for children's goods, cards, clothing, jewelry, novelty items, etc. I personally loved how much there was to look at, and I was able to find a few gift items I'd been looking for and a few things for myself. I particularly appreciate the quality of the items in the shop - many similar places source items that you could just as easily find at an Urban Outfitters type place - I find that those items never really feel special because they're so "trendy", but EE avoids that particular style for the most part. Such a fun place to browse when you've got some time to spend, and will definitely return in the future! I'm honestly a bit disappointed that the review aggregate for this shop is so low, and I feel it's a bit unfair. I see a lot of complaints about overpriced items, but in my opinion the prices are right on par with what I'd expect for this type of store. Obviously it's the type of store where they source their goods from many places, and it's mostly filled with high quality gifts and novelty items which are always expensive no matter where you get them. I also see a lot of complaints about customer service, to which I can only offer that I was well taken care of - the sales attendant was very friendly and spent a good amount of time chatting with customers about their purchases. Finally, I enjoyed the haphazard style of the displays! It gives you so many places to look around, and you find something new around every corner - makes the shopping experience feel like an adventure and when you find something you like it's like reaching the end of a treasure hunt! I was disappointed that this shop doesn't stand by their merchandise that I bought just six weeks ago. The purse's stitching has come undone and the zipper pull fell off and isn't repairable. The clerk said that I could buy a new purse if I wanted to, but they don't replace defective products. Such a shame, as I shop there often and really try to support local businesses. read more

The good/meh - So this place is impressive in size, scope and curation. It has a little somethin' for everyone (well, if you're a woman, particularly a yuppy/older artsy fartsy-leaning woman or purchasing a gift for someone of said persuasion) in the appropriately ecclectic-yet-high-end style that caters to the modern Elmwood shopper's aesthetic. I could see it being a great last-minute gift shop for a very specific subset of the Buffalo population and I give them props for being locally owned, non-chain, etc. The bad/annoying - I'm not one to poo poo a local business for being pricier than a big box store IF their wares are made in the US (or other countries with strong labor laws) or (more importantly) actually made locally or at the very last have some assurance of being fair trade (a la a lot of the clothing and bags sold at Terrapin Station). This place seemed to feature almost nothing that fit any of those requirements for me to open my wallet, particularly at such high prices. Some of their items were average mall/big box prices (and why not give this local business your money instead of Target?) but the majority were ridiculous for being made in places like China, Thailand, Indonesia, etc. I know the owners are buying these things at absurdly low rates from countries that pay their workers almost nothing (I used to work for a world imports store), and intentionally choosing items that LOOK local, artisanal, etc until you examine the tags. I guess that was what irked me the most about the experience - the obvious attempt to display things that are factory or sweat shop made in such a way that they appear artisanal/local (hand priced, no exterior packaging, etc, and you really have to search to find the "made in____" sticker). I didn't see a single thing in this store made in the Buffalo area (please, point it out to me if you saw one) and three items made in the US total. Sorry, but I'm not paying $40 for a leather and faux stone belt made in China. I'm not paying $65 for a no-name-alloy-metal ring with a plastic adornment on it made in Thailand. It just isn't going to happen. I'll walk myself, and my wallet, down to Thin Ice (or drive myself back to Black Rock to Artsphere or 464 Gallery) and buy locally made stuff at equal or lesser prices. Also, yes, I know I have pink and purple pig tails and a leopard print coat on but please, very hoity toity looking lady behind the counter, stop giving me the stink eye like I'm going to steal something. I asked to try a necklace, three of the female staff were there chit chatting while nobody answered me right away. One of the females looked at me and turned her head away. WOW This happened couple times during my visits here over the past year. A cute shop on Elmwood. I was instantly greeted when I walked in the door. I was looking for a Buffalo gift to bring back to my boyfriend in Florida, but nothing called my attention. Everything Elmwood has a whole lotta tchotchke going on. What I like best about this location is their large jewelery counter in the center of the store. I purchased a great little fresh water pearl bracelet there for under $30. I have also received, as a birthday gift, a lovely pair earrings; amber set in sterling silver. Along with the fun baubles, they have loads of cutesy housewares...perfect when looking for a hostess gift, along with funky belts and tights, gift wrap, greeting cards...tons of stuff! I did a bit of my holiday shopping here with great success. I found something for my granddaughter, my daughter in-law-to-be, and my daughters (2 of them anyhow), and a slew of things i wanted for myself. Everything was much loved by the recipients. I enjoyed the atmosphere quite a lot, though the music seemed a bit ... off? Maybe it was just me, as I had just come from a stressful appointment. They have a little bit of everything from jewelry to clothing to the offbeat. I think it would be a bit difficult to buy a gift for a man here, however, hence why I am only giving it 4 stars. There is a lot to explore, and I think that's the fun part about shops like this. But others on Elmwood weren't as deep and exciting to walk around. They have a good assortment of bowls, serving dishes, glasses, etc.; lotions, potions, and creams; and usually some fun baby clothes, toys, and shoes. Let me be clear, they also have a healthy helping of old-lady jewelry and weird lace clothes, but hey -- some of your friends are going to love it when you give them old-lady jewelry and weird lace clothes. The card section deserves a nice mention, with funny cards for the hilarious people in your life, sappy cards for your emotional relatives, and blank cards for people you don't know that well. But I also don't come here for the bargains nor the self-checkout. I can't understate "unique." Anytime I have a gift to buy, especially for that hard to buy for person, I will always find a special, unique one-of-a-kind gift at Everything Elmwood. The biggest problem I have with shopping there is I end up buying more for myself! I feel that the pricing is reasonable, especially when you consider that they always offer to wrap the gift free of charge. And they don't just wrap it, they make sure the gift is wrapped whimsical and special. While visiting my hometown from Florida I was excited to checkout this small local boutique. The store was filled with a variety of items some very unique others generic but over all a descent place. However the customer service was absolutely AWFUL. My mom made a purchase, I was in the process of deciding which magnets to purchase for myself and instead of the sales clerk checking with me before ringing out another guest, she completely ignored me & rung out the next couple. The sales clerk then went on to check out two other guest, NEVER asking was I ready or needed additional help. After roughly 10+ minutes of waiting and being completely ignored, out of frustration I left my purchase on the counter & walked toward the front door; as I was exiting the store one of the young ladies yelled from behind the counter "did you get those magnets" basically checking to see if I had taken them. Remind you I was NEVER asked if I needed assistance after waiting for roughly 10+ mins. I haven't worked in retail since early college which was sometime ago but I do remember always attending to all customers & never assuming theft. This was completely out of line & my experience at this local boutique reminded me why local support is sometimes limited. What the representatives didn't know I was not only in town for the holidays but also on work scouting local business for a new show I'm co-producing. Although I really would like to feature a business from my hometown after my experience there's no way in hell I would ever help to promote this boutique on a national platform. Cute store but the two girls working yesterday were extremely rude. No greeting when walking in, just stared. The one girl was straightening her hair and the other was complaining about her personal life. I really enjoyed going into the store. Went into the store today to look for a present and I overheard a couple having an argument with whoever was working. They bought a necklace and it broke after three wears. They just want to get a new one but they were told that the owner need to approve of it and to come back when she was working. Turns out that the women had talked to the owner and she told them to come into the store to have the necklace looked at. She didn't tell them that she has to be that the store cause she was the only one allowed to approve it. The worker ended up calling the owner and she said that they had to come back when she was at the store and they couldn't leave the necklace at the store. I didn't hear what ended up happening cause I felt very uncomfortable and left but that is just not right. I am very saddened to hear that this is how they treat a customer that had a problem with a product. I won't be shopping here anymore. read more

I was in the Main St. location yesterday with my husband and two kids. An older woman working there repeatedly rolled her eyes at my kids (who were being good and helping us shop for loved ones) as they chattered and laughed (God forbid they be seen and heard). My husband played with our daughter to keep her from getting into things we didn't want her to touch and she behaved very well as she laughed with him. Eventually the woman behind the counter said loudly, "Will someone check these people out and get them out of here?!" Immediately two younger girls rushed to the counter and offered to check us out. We weren't done shopping but we felt very unwelcome. My husband left immediately with the kids while I paid for our items. I almost left them on the counter and walked out but I knew my kids would be upset that the gifts they helped pick out were left behind. We overpaid for cute gifts and horrendous treatment. I pray I'm never that Scroogey to young families when I'm older. read more

Went to Main St. location to do some Christmas shopping, and left empty handed. I had my 2 yr. old daughter with me, who was EXTREMELY well behaved- held my hand, looked around with me, was friendly and quiet. We had about $150 in items to purchase, and I was looking to ask the sales girl for help with earrings in one of their cases. The whole time we were there, we didn't even get a 'hello' as she gave my daughter dirty looks, constantly stared us down, and when I asked for help, was ignored. I'm sure the looks and constant watching were because she was sure my daughter was going to break something. I was upset while we were shopping, and even more upset when I was ignored. We left empty handed, and they just lost a customer. I will go buy over priced wine glasses elsewhere. read more

I'm not sure what the last reviewer was thinking, but it's in a great neighborhood, ranked one of the top ten neighborhoods in the nation, so plan to spend the day browsing the other restaurants, shops and boutiques along the elmwood strip.
