There is just something so cute about five chocolate strawberries in a column on a stick! Shishkaberry came to the University District street fair this year. There were two stands so people didn't have to hunt down the one stand and wait in line. The display of their "fake" chocolate strawberries seems to draw people in. They have white, milk and dark chocolate, as well as toppings like chocolate drizzle, sprinkles, and nuts. They also have bananas and pineapples. The Siberian tiger consists of strawberries dipped in white chocolate and then drizzled with milk chocolate (like tiger stripes). I asked for a reverse Siberian tiger since I wanted it dipped in milk and drizzled with white. They were able to do my custom request and I was given my treat in no time. Some of the strawberries are huge and super plump! Most of mine were ripe and sweet, with maybe one being slightly sour. The chocolate helps bring in more sweetness though. Overall, it's your average chocolate covered strawberry. I don't think they use very high quality chocolate cause it wasn't like biting into an amazing bark of chocolate. I do like how they drizzled quite a bit of white chocolate on top though. Price wise, you can probably make your own chocolate covered strawberries for cheaper. I was just too eager to have some right then and there. It's about $6-7 per "kabob" depending on the toppings. Strawberries were good, chocolate could be better, so in all, just average. read more

I was VERY happy the day I learned that I wouldn't find any of that at the Shishkaberry booth! Or, well, at least not any of the ones I've been to so far (Folklife and on the UW campus during an event). The employee takes no more than 3 mins or less to prepare your dessert and she did it all with perkiness and a smile, which made our first experience pleasurable. Lines flows pretty quickly so don't get impatient, but wouldn't you be happy for the lines. It speaks volumes about the product and services. People don't constantly return if your services suck! FYI: location may slightly change by only a few feet, other than that, you are welcomed to enjoy 1-2 daily recommended fruit servings with a smile. This place gets 4 stars for novelty, service, and the fact that you can't go wrong with strawberries, chocolate and whipped cream. However, as one Yelper mentioned in her review the chocolate is not very high quality. I ordered my Fairy Berry with dark chocolate and it seriously lacked that cocoa flavor. It was thickly coated (another sign of low quality) and hard to bite into. The strawberries weren't very sweet either, but were good. The girl at the stand we visited (Space Needle) was very friendly and sweet. Even though she had to listen to my boyfriend mouth off his dingleberry jokes and sarcastic commentary about the inappropriateness of the Shishkaberry terminology. This is a cute concept. There are many options for selecting selection of toppings for your dipped strawberries or bananas. Even a selection titled 'DingleBerry (basic chocolate dipped strawberries). It's a super cute idea and the ladies are wonderfully friendly. Their chocolate is not dairy free, so it limits anyone with that sensitivity (my kiddo). There was a pop up "Shishkaberries" at folklife. The product is great on its own. Simple fruit dipped in chocolate, you can't go wrong. The 2 stars is for the horrid staff at this location. The girl was so rude it was shocking, I had a question about the type of chocolate on one verses another and she rolled her eyes at me and practically ignored me. Then when we ordered she told me that for card we need to go to the other line (this was posted no where and we are not the only people in line that had this issue). The worst stand ever is the one at XFinity (aka Comcast) Arena in Everett. Staff is very rude and lazy. Waited for 20 minutes for one and they wouldn't do something thats not already premade. I came another day when there was no one in line and the same thing. The girl was simply very rude and said that as she alreadry told me before she wont do it... how lazy. Its an item on the menu and they simply won't do it. I hope that this Shishkaberry's is the same vendor that participates in Bumbershoot and Seattle festivals of the like; I wouldn't want this negative review to go to anyone else. I LOVE shishkaberries and am a loyal customer- I look forward to buying them every time I go to a Seattle festival and have never had a bad experience. So, Bumbershoot 2010 being no exception I headed out in search of a booth before heading home. I asked politely, with a smile on my face-for a milk chocolate shishkaberry with sprinkles. I was told that they could not make me one of those, and could only give me an already made white chocolate one sprinkles because they had already cleaned the tools and sprinkle container, which was sitting RIGHT NEXT TO THE CASHIER. I pointed that out, and politely asked if they could perhaps try another way to put the sprinkles on, or maybe put them in a cup so that I could put them on myself. They said that they could not because they didn't have any cups. While the cashier was not rude, she certainly was not helpful. Good customer service would have been to tell me what they could do, not only what they couldn't and try their best to accommodate the customers order. If they can't make a certain order after a certain time, the signage should reflect that. Here's the kicker.... the two employees behind the counter preparing the food rudely told me that they didn't have anymore sprinkles after overhearing my conversation with the cashier. So I logically pointed out that the sprinkle container was there, and upon doing so, the young man behind the counter hastily grabbed the sprinkle container off the table and said ' Look, now they aren't there anymore'. Horrible, HORRIBLE, condescending and rude customer service from that employee. The dealings with the other employees just made the whole situation worse. Needless to say, I took my money back and did not give that stand my business. I work in customer service and understand how tiring a day can be, but that was completely uncalled for. I am offended, and still in shock at how poorly and rudely I was treated. After this I went to another Shishkaberry stand that was closed and told them of my experience, for the purpose of offering constructive feedback. They apologized and I bought what they had left. I was more than happy to buy one from the other stand from an employee who, while not responsible for the incident cared enough to apologize on their behalf and speak to me in a respectful manner. She should be promoted, or at least be in a position to teach others especially the young man at the other stand how to provide positive customer service. And while the latter employee was helpful and the berries were tasty, the whole experience still left a very bad taste in my mouth. Two thumbs down. read more
