We were overly impressed with this little sandwich shop. It's tiny but still a decent amount of both outdoor picnic tables and indoor counter seating. We were there at 12:30p on a summer weekday and there was plenty of seating available with only a short line. Drinks available in the fridge - sodas and iced teas. I was happy they had an unsweetened iced tea. We ordered the Fitzgerald and the staff were accommodating to leave off the bacon. The pretzel rolls are light in color and extremely soft in texture. Unlike most pretzel rolls, these felt much less heavy in our bellies and we were surprised to not feel stuffed afterward, although we wish we'd thought to split one. But all ingredients were high quality so it was worth the splurge since it tasted delicious and seemed very fresh. Bathroom is unisex. Even though there's only one, it was clean, with attractive detailing in the sink.

We loved this small town find before going to the dunes! We brought our pup with us and she enjoyed the sunshine at the picnic tables. The food was very good and quick!

Wow, this place is such an amazing find in a small town that doesn't have tons of options. We were there the week of the 4th of July at 11am. There was no line at the time and it was pretty quiet. We ordered and got our sandwiches shortly after. They were huge & the ingredients were of great quality. You could tell the bread was homemade, the vegetables were fresh and no shredded iceberg lettuce in sight. The artisan lettuce was a great touch! We also got a cherry chocolate chip cookie. It was crunchy on the outside and gooey in the middle. Perfection. The building itself is small and so was the parking lot. I'm sure during peak hours that would've been frustrating. We got the Fitzgerald & rouse Simmons. Only thing we wished we would've done differently was asking for extra Mayo/ horseradish. Highly recommend this place!

DELICIOUS!!! Packed with flavor, excellent amount of meat and fixings and the baguette is amazing. Definitely a stop we will make again heading north for the fall colors.

Don't miss this easy-to-miss spot if you're anywhere near Empire. This is my favorite sandwich spot - I go out of my way to get here when I'm up north but happened to be running the Sleeping Bear 5K yesterday. (The marathon makes for a Busy weekend so be patient if there's a local event- they're taking care with your food) The BLT sandwich is my family's fave- if you're a bacon fan, this is a star- I'm a veg so Griffon is my go-to- sandwiches are full full full of whatever you order and wonderful wonderful bread And the two girls currently working here are super sweet- had to make a new container of coffee for my one cup purchase with no bother- and also pros at making the sandwiches- tip well because they're worth it!

Nice place for a quick bite if you're in the area. We were looking for a place to eat after our walk at the nearby beach area and found this place. They are a small no frills place with some outside sitting. The customized pizza that we ordered was reasonably well made in a quick time. After an afternoon stop at the sleeping bear dunes, we stopped by the visitors center in Empire and then decided on this gem for a late lunch. It did not disappoint!!! Five stars for delivering on exactly what a top quality sandwich shop should be. I had a roast beef and cheddar sandwich, and my girl had the Arizona wrap that had chicken with a southwestern flare to it. We shared the soup and I wish I had my own honestly but it was great. They had ice cream for the kids and the cherry drinks they supplied from a local business were different and unique in the best possible way. Thanks for a great meal and experience!!! If you are in the area I highly recommend for lunch. I'm sure they are great for breakfast as well so hopefully I can find out for myself one day in the future. read more

Simple but excellent. I don't know what made their sandwiches so good, they're not fancy, but maybe they're just good/fresh ingredients. I had a sandwich with the pretzel roll which I really enjoyed. Ambiance was also simple but cool. I learned a thing or two about history/shipwrecks just by looking around. Our 12 year old liked the place enough he bought a T-shirt. read more

My daughter and I stopped for lunch. It was raining so we had to order and eat in the car. I ordered the Fritzgerald which was on a pretzel bun with fresh ingredients. It was a hardy sandwich. Nice presentation. My daughter had a panini Morazan. It was hot, fresh and she enjoyed the Italian bread. Would stop again. Many local people stopping for lunch too. read more

After being told we'd have to wait 20 minutes for a sandwich in Frankfort, we drove north towards Sleeping Bear, our destination, and found this place on the way. Great sandwiches on good bread, with a lot of variety of fillings. We put them in the cooler and they were a delicious picnic lunch later that day. read more

Very nice sandwiches, very bad social distancing situation. They had twice as many people inside as they said, and kept the door closed, so I wouldn't feel good about stopping here until current conditions subside. But when they do, consider the Italian sub, which has almost a fully dressed salad on top of some decent cold cuts. read more

Decent food which seems overpriced to me. For instance, I got a chicken panini expecting grilled chicken and instead got chicken lunch meat for $9. A small bowl of soup was $6. It tasted really good. We also got a chicken salad wrap and it was excellent. read more

Small. Need to get their line in order because the free for all is a little confusing. BUT... The choices were plentiful for the patrons in our vehicle. And we had a wide variety of ages and dietary needs. We all found something we wanted. The finished product was quite good. This is a great local establishment run by very kind and courteous people. We found this while on our trip up north, and wishing we had a location like this nearby us. This was a total win, living up to the reviews that we found about them. The sandwiches are incredibly delicious, made with fresh made bread in house. We read reviews and decided to stop here to grab sandwiches for a Sleeping Bear Dune lunch. Boy am I glad we did! We ordered the Fitzgerald and the Morazan. They were were absolutely delicious. We got sack lunches with Grand Lakes Kettle Cook BBQ cherry chips and a drink. We added chocolate cherry cookies which were amazing! We all highly recommend this delightful spot! read more

YOU MUST COME HERE & TRY A SANDWICH!!! We were headed to The Cheese Shoppe & heard-while en route- that it was closed. So we came here after a suggestion from a wonderful lady at M22. AND WE ARE SO SO glad we did. This may have just trumped the cheese shop & become our go-to sandwich during our trips to traverse city. For one, each of the sandwiches is named after a Great Lakes shipwreck. There is history written all over the bar & information about the given shipwrecks. It is absolutely fascinating & gives you something to do while waiting for your sandwich/eating your sandwich. The sandwich was absolutely amazing & I did not have to unhinge my jaw to take a bite. The turkey was phenomenal & SO hearty & delicious. Each one was made with care. The pretzel bread was the perfect amount of salty & was absolutely INCREDIBLE. I will be dreaming about this sandwich for the remainder of the year. I am setting my alarm for tomorrow morning to come get ANOTHER sandwich as they open. Owners & staff were friendly & awesome. We are spending a couple of days in Empire. After a big lunch we weren't sure we wanted dinner. We walked in 15 minutes before closing, received very friendly service even though we were so late, and got two excellent salads--the house and the Southwestern. They were perfect. We'll probably be back before we leave town. read more

We live in Empire so we're lucky, we get to have great sandwiches all year. The Shipwreck makes the best sandwiches. I love the Carl Bradley and the Three Brothers are my favorites. My wife loves the Arizona. If you're in the area the Shipwreck makes a great sandwich. read more

Both were super processed, off brand, chopped meat patties that were dumped in a deep fryer for just long enough to make them hot, soggy, and floppy. My fish had plain mayo on it, and after just a couple bites we both decided we couldn't finish. What's worse is these two sandwiches were 5 dollars a piece. Chips and drinks extra. I've been coming to the frankfort area for 30 years and never have i been so disappointed with a restaurant here. Save yourself time, money, and an upset stomach by going to literally ANY other lunch spot in Frankfort, Elberta, Beulah, Benzonia, or the surrounding areas. Even the McDonald's on 31 serves better. The owners should be ashamed of themselves for serving such crap in an area that has so many top notch restaurants.

Wow! Stopped here today for the first time after a visit to the family clinic. I purchased the smoked brisket sandwich and the seafood chowder. It was too much food for one person, but both items were just so excellent I am sad that it's taken me this long to discover it. The flavors were interesting and so complimentary. We are from out of town and were looking for a good, inexpensive place to eat dinner. This place had amazing sandwiches. I had the Fitzgerald and my boyfriend had the three brothers. Both were great and worth the price. The $10 per meal was well worth it for a big sandwich, chips, and a drink.
