They have delicious pastries, staff were friendly, and I loved the cleanliness and warm environment. I reallllly recommend their morning buns! Just wish there was an icing or something to go with it. But they were amazing on their own!

    Meeting a friend for lunch

My friend and I came here for lunch. They have a nice little lunch and breakfast menu. The service is really friendly and everything came out quickly. When I arrived, the guy walked me through the whole menu and was really excited about everything they had to offer. I ordered an iced tea. It was expensive, $6 for an iced tea without any ice. It was not a good iced tea. It tasted like it had been made in the same pot as coffee so it had a stale coffee aftertaste that was not good. The chicken pesto sandwich was good. I would give it a 6/10 stars. The pesto is excellent. The bread is delicious, but it was over toasted and the crust was very hard. The bread and butter pickles on the side are excellent. There is some room for improvement. I'd definitely come back to buy bread!

    French onion grilled cheese :(

Just popping in to share my two cents. Stopped into local spot Common Good on 14th with an appetite and good intentions. Upon entry, the vibes were there and the menu items intrigued. I ordered the French onion grilled cheese, hoping for a fusion of my favorite soup and my comfort food of choice. When presented with my order, it was as if the record scratched and time stood still. My French onion grilled CHEESE did not contain CHEESE (see included photo). In conclusion, the vibes: present; and the cheese: nonexistent.

    tartine

I have to agree with previous reviewers. This place is way over priced. Husband and I came in for breakfast and both ordered the "tartine", $15 each, which come to find out, is nothing but a piece of toast with a tiny little poached egg on top sprinkled with a few bacon bits and about a tablespoon of some skinny little shoestring potato chips. Maybe it's the fancy name that allows them to charge so much. With two cups of eight ounce coffee, the bill came out to $39.43 and we left feeling hungry and robbed. This is our second time trying this place and we won't be back.

Nice to see a lively establishment brightening up the neighborhood! The chicken pesto sandwich was good but not for the price and the bread made the sandwich hard to eat. We also tried the Egg sandwich and it also was underwhelming. They need someone to oversee what the kitchen is sending out!

They have since put wood fired pizza on the menu on 8th street. So good! Crust is thin and crispy and the ingredients are first rate!

It's a bakery specializing breads, yet...toast is not available on the breakfast menu? Not all of us want pastry for breakfast.

my haul was plentiful but unfortunately when i opened my sandwich i was given the wrong sandwich :(…read moreit was such bummer bc i bought so much at their deli and was waiting for that sandwich for the months leading up to my visit. i got something smothered in pesto (which i hate) so definitely check your order BEFORE you drive home because i almost cried seeing i didn't get the sando i ordered but i really loved the selection of italian goods they had. great cap, great cheese options and the lady that helped me in the deli was a sweetheart

Wow- I'm still blown away by this place. This historic Italian market is what every town needs, and…read moreit totally hit the spot for lunch while in Traverse City before our Cidery Tour. Super cozy inside, I feel like I'm at home. The store has everything anyone needs; fresh meat & cheeses, olives, spices, pizza flour, dough, cookies, wine, desserts, take and bake pizzas, lasagna, pot pies, and so much more. We ordered one of the many delicious sandwiches on the menu. I chose the Chimp Boy Gravel Pants. Roasted turkey, sundried tomatoes, pesto, blue cheese, provolone, Italian dressing, stuffed in a ciabatta sub- AMAZING. That will be forever in my heart. Made with love. I wish I could've wrapped that shop up, put it in my pocket and brought it back to my hometown. I will definitely stop there each and every time I visit TC!
