Found this local bakery online. Pictures and reviews look so good so I had to come get some food. When you walk in you see big loafs of bread and croissant on the rack. Other pastries on the display and an open kitchen design. Food menu is kinda small and I should have choose vegetarian breakfast sandwich or other breakfast sandwich instead of the croissant wich. Not that it is bad but croissant with eggs is kinda lackluster. Next time. Ice coffee in a tall glass is so much better than in the plastic cup. Maybe because you can see the milk and coffee mixing translucent though the glass. read more

Common Good had a steady stream of customers the whole time I was there, but the service kept up well. The tartine of the day (fig, bacon, and goat cheese) was fresh and flavorful, with a generous layer of greens that paired nicely with the crunchy bacon bits. And the fresh bread is always a winner. The Cubano was tasty too, though I would have preferred a lighter hand with the Dijon. The cherry chocolate Danish was good, but didn't quite stand out. Other pastries have been delicious when we've gotten them at Common Goods' other location. Overall, it has a comfortable atmosphere, and I'd be open to trying their pizzas of which there seems to be a nice mix of white and red sauce offerings. read more

A popular local spot turning out nice pizzas -- both the pesto pie (with a surprising combo of a mostly pesto layer, and dollops of tomato sauce on top) and the spicy pie (a cheese pizza with calabrian chili strips on top) are worth getting, and adding either the pepperoni or the sausage will improve them too. My one complaint is that the crust runs a little dry for my tastes, and I guess it's a bit expensive for what you get, but what you get is big-city-level pizza in the minor burg of Traverse City, Michigan, so my complaints are minor. My friend and I came here for lunch. They have a nice little lunch and breakfast menu. The service is really friendly and everything came out quickly. When I arrived, the guy walked me through the whole menu and was really excited about everything they had to offer. I ordered an iced tea. It was expensive, $6 for an iced tea without any ice. It was not a good iced tea. It tasted like it had been made in the same pot as coffee so it had a stale coffee aftertaste that was not good. The chicken pesto sandwich was good. I would give it a 6/10 stars. The pesto is excellent. The bread is delicious, but it was over toasted and the crust was very hard. The bread and butter pickles on the side are excellent. There is some room for improvement. I'd definitely come back to buy bread! read more

Oh my goodness locals run!!!! Don't walk , sprint!! call Usain Bolt ! get into a race car, and get as far away from this place as you possibly can! I've never experienced a more overcharged, basic facility in my life. Please the prices are not worth it and if they do charge so much because they want to give their employees a living wage and those employees need to live somewhere else because they are so rude.! so essentially I've been there multiple times and I feel comfortable enough now to give a horrible review. Essentially you will be ignored. It will take way too long to get basic items delivered and unless you're a very rich white woman in her late 60s do not expect to be treated with the tiniest shred of human decency. I'm talking. No one will even look you in the eye. It's places like these that genuinely ruin the town I grew up in. They only want to cater to the extremely wealthy. I can promise you that the food is subpar at best and yeah it was. It's just the most horrific experience. I can imagine please do not support this business. Get pretentious, subpar performers like this out of our community! I guess anyone else reading those who wants to overpriced basic foods in the town and make people feel genuinely disgusting for even walking in the door. I have to agree with previous reviewers. This place is way over priced. Husband and I came in for breakfast and both ordered the "tartine", $15 each, which come to find out, is nothing but a piece of toast with a tiny little poached egg on top sprinkled with a few bacon bits and about a tablespoon of some skinny little shoestring potato chips. Maybe it's the fancy name that allows them to charge so much. With two cups of eight ounce coffee, the bill came out to $39.43 and we left feeling hungry and robbed. I have a particular pretense that you can judge a city's food scene by whether it has any good bakeries. I'm not talking about cake shops, mind you, I'm talking about real bakeries-- the ones that bake real bread every morning, whose demise James Baldwin lamented in 1963 as emblematic of the decline of a society's self-respect, as Americans shifted to mass-produced Wonderbread. Common Good delivers in this regard. I can't speak to any of the prepared food (sandwiches, etc.) but we did pick up a couple of loaves of bread and some pastries and they were all next level. The morning bun, which is kind of a cinnamon bun that just has cinnamon sugar instead of cinnamon goo, was out of this world. And we got a whole grain loaf that I'm still daydreaming about, days later. Also, almond and chocolate croissants, brittanys, and what not. The new space (I guess they moved from 14th St.?) is bright and comfortable, with a positively Nordic vibe, in spite of being located in a sort of classic midcentury strip mall setup. Went here on Saturday night. Surprised to see they had Roman pasta dishes. I ordered the cacio e pepe but was kind of disappointed. The bucatini noodles themselves were great but the sauce was lacking. It is a simple sauce of pasta water, pecorino and pepper but it was bland. Something (1/2 avocado, fruit) would have been nice even to just dress it up. Instead of coffee I order a vanilla cappuccino which was luke warm and too sweet. I've always loved Common Good's bread - it's hands down my favorite in town. When this new location was announced I was thrilled. The positives? Great service! The pasta dishes are fantastic. They definitely need something additional with them, like a bread item or something. I can't in good faith recommend the chicken cutlet given the enormous upcharge. Far more negatives for me, though. Like their bread and other baked items? They...just don't really exist at dinner time? At all? The white bean mash is the most disappointing appetizer I've ever received at a restaurant. Flavorless doesn't even begin to cover it - along with incredibly flavorless crackers. It's a baffling item and doesn't make you excited for the main course. When they first started offering pizzas at their original location a few years ago I was excited - and the price was a hard pill to swallow but the pizzas were massive. But $30ish for the current pizza sizes is truly absurd. They taste fine, but at that price there are far far far better options all over town. $4 to add 10 thin slices of pepperoni? The profit margins must be enormous. No pepperoni pie and requiring it as an add on felt like a seedy business choice. I hope they improve and find a groove. It's been incredibly dead at dinner time when we've went, which was surprising as it's a newer restaurant and it was well into the tourist season. Its a nice looking place with promise, but there are more exciting options in town to dine at the moment. read more

Stopped in for lunch with my daughter and grandkids and we all loved it! Everyone was very nice and helpful! The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The kids shared a pizza and they both loved it! They also loved watching it be prepared and bake. I had the chicken pesto panini and my daughter had the turkey pear. Both were incredible. I get it, you say you pay excellent wages and benefits. But I checked out your job listings and your wages are below or at industry average. I've kept my mouth shut about this for awhile. I'm a local. I really really want to like you. When you first opened on 14th St, I was a regular. But over time, I've seen your prices skyrocket while your portions and quality have plummeted. Your markups are insane and take advantage of your customers. That feels terrible as a consumer. You need to know that. Do better. read more

The interior is beautiful and calm. The service is friendly and prompt. But best of all the food is amazingly good. I had the tartine of the day, my partner the quiche Lorraine. We both were more than satisfied, and though I was full when I finished, I was sorry not to have more time to enjoy the food. Coffees were also excellent. Had the chicken pesto sandwich, which was served on stale, burned, (or maybe both) bread. I opted to add $2.00 to my bill for what turned out to be a handful of potato chip crumbs.
