It took a while to wait for your order so it was confusing if you should wait inside or outside for it since the limit was 5 people inside at a time. Originally went to Shipwreck cafe to get my water bottles filled up after a long bike ride, but they're only option was to have me pay for a bottle. Staff was friendly, but this is no way to bring in business. After that, I went to the Village Inn, and the staff was super nice and was happy to fill them up with a smile. read more

Visited the dunes in Michigan last June from California. This tiny gem was just around the corner from the visitor center. Wonderful, delicious sandwiches. Fresh ingredients. Great Lakes Potato Chips were also delicious. I took half a dozen bags to go. Alas, they are long gone. I wish it were closer. Any tips go to the college tuition of the children. If you're ever in the quirky town of Empire Michigan and having the hungers for a tasty sandwich and also want to embrace a little bit of history about the Great Lakes, this is the place! Ever heard of the sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald, yeah you can read about it while eating an amazing turkey sandwich with lettuce tomatoes cheese bacon on a homemade hoggie. Ever want an amazing breakfast burrito before hiking the sleeping bear dunes. This is the spot! Highly recommend! I got the three brothers a wonderful Italian sandwich and read the tail of the ship and it's demise at the bar while waiting for it. My wife, tuckered out after a long day at the beach and climbing the spectacular dunes, got the ss. hydrus, a delicious chicken, avocado,spicy mustard on a homemade roll. She devoured it. She, the boat, not my wife, was following the SS James Carruthers heading south on Lake Huron while carrying a load of iron ore when she, again, not my wife, and the Carruthers were caught in the Great Lakes Storm of 1913. This is a great place and you also get to know the wonderful history of all of the Great Lakes. Win win! Win, win, win..... Win! Can't wait to go back, for like ten thousand reasons. A+. High fives.
