I was very disappointed that they didn't have anything that we wanted- peel & eat shrimp, crab cakes or sweet potato fries. We instead got 6 shrimp on a plate for $12. Then they charged me $.75 for mayo & $1.50 for cheese. I was surprised they didn't charge for the waters. Pulled pork was very mushy. I was super excited about trying this place out and I wish we chose somewhere else. read more

So I've driven past Shipwreck a number of times, never taking the time to stop in. Well we did for the first time Friday, May 22, 2026. Place is awesome, very cool vibe, food was outstanding, drinks were descent, and Brandon took great care of us. If you've never been in there, I highly recommend It ! Enjoy.................... read more

Upon arrival we were told they have no burgers or steak (beef). Continued to look at the menu and decided to order shrimp skewers on rice - then told they have no rice! When food came, the person with me ordered pulled pork (of which was scantily put on a bun) and my shrimp came with a baked potato must have just been warmed, not grilled with a chili sauce on them. They were presented on a pink plate with no garnishes. The pork sandwich plate had only fries, not even a pickle! Forgot to mention we two were the only the people in the entire restaurant - now i know why!!! NEVER AGAIN!! read more

I stopped in for a steak Sammie and fries for lunch. Delicious! Will definitely stop here again as I'm in the area weekly. Highly recommend

My parents and I Had a wonderful experience at Shipwreck on Christmas Eve! We made a random choice to go here because the day before I drove past the restaurant and noticed how festive the lights and decorations looked from the outside. So we decided to give it a shot. To our surprise we absolutely loved it! The service was delightful! Alex was very pleasant. The food and drinks were excellent and we all had an overall great experience. My mom called the next day to tell me how much she enjoyed it. She never does that, so that's a big compliment lol. Anyways, it will become our new Christmas Eve tradition! read more

I love shipwreck. My family and I go here all the time. I love the crab cakes, the shrimp, buffalo shrimp, ragoons and I always get the blackened grouper! The service is absolutely amazing and I love the owner Alex! The team goes above and beyond to make us feel special! I also hosted a party in the event space and they did such a fabulous job! I highly recommend Shipwreck if you are looking for great scratch cooking and seafood! I also had the best key lime pie of my life! read more

I always enjoy the food when I come here with family, and the staff is always very nice and welcoming. I have really enjoyed the few times I went and there was live music as well. Overall this is very much a place I go when I want to feel the comfort of family. I haven't eaten anything that I haven't enjoyed and have never had bad service. My family loves coming here and I see us having many return trips in the future! read more

Was out of town this weekend, and drove past this gem. I didn't expect much before going in. But let me tell you this place did not disappoint. Besides the music selection being perfect. The food was absolutely delicious and that's big deal being from Chicago. I ordered a "Shrimp Poor Boy & Sweet Potato fries ( recommended by our server), and everything was made to order tasted fresh. Most importantly the service was exceptional. It felt I was home with family. I will definitely be going back. Thank You! read more

We have tried this place before and was not up to what I would say was good that was before we even tried the food since we left before being served. The name fits the decor perfectly it took a several minutes to be noticed at the hostess station right there that's points off to me since that's why we walked out the first time. The gentleman came told us only the bar area is available since they like everyone else is short staffed this in turn effected the service all around but yet he sat people dinning room after we sat at the bar kind of strange. The food selection went along with the name nothing mind blowing. Was hoping the first try there was just a bad day for them but after the second visit nope read more

I liked the atmosphere. Although it was slow for a Saturday, it's got potential. My side salad was good and fresh. Wings were excellent. My kids ordered adult grill cheese, asked for no tomato and both came with tomato. I ordered fried perch. Fried! Fried being crunchy and crispy. The perch was soft and mushy as a fried item with very little breading. I was very disappointed the server didn't offer to fix or change anything. I clearly didn't even eat it! $27 dollar dish that shouldn't have been served! I will probably not be back. Sad because I'd been wanting to try the place forever. read more

NOT GREAT! We were excited to go to a new place tonight. We chose shipwreck bar and grill. What a mistake! First of all to wait over an hour for your food is ridiculous. Maybe if the food was worth the wait it would not have been so bad. Unfortunately it was not worth the wait in fact it was a waste of time and money! The lake perch was horrible so greasy I almost could not eat it. If you are looking for a new place to get a good meal do not look here or you will be sorely disappointed!!! read more

We never tasted the food because we weren't waited on. We went in with a group on Friday night and told we had to get our own drinks from the bar and that they wouldn't be able to seat us for 45 minutes. There were several tables empty and in the time we waited, no one was served. At that rate, this place won't be around too long. read more

We've been getting take out here during Covid the past year. It's always packaged perfectly. Ive tried a few menu items while dining in, but my absolute favorite is the blackened grouper sandwich with sweet potato fries. Such a cute place with great seafood. read more

Liked this place a lot. This restaurant has had any number of names over the years, and is now called Shipwreck Bar and Grill. Pretty much a drinking place out here, where there isn't that much competition - but that should not detract you from visiting. The food was really pretty nice and the waitstaff was attentive and plentiful. The drinks are not priced over the top and the ambiance is OK. This place has live entertainment very often and it is nice. One in our party had the Lake Perch (only 2 stars because it has some kind of funky Cajun seasoning on it), another had the blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos (3 stars and a nice dinner, but a bit light on the blackening), another had the broiled Snapper (4 stars and a nice fish), another had the fried shrimp (4 stars as they have the French fried thing down pat), and last had the Crab Cakes (3 stars nice, but a bit more filling than crab). The ambiance here is a Country Western bar - concrete floors, a roped off bar area, and a nice little restaurant seating area. This was an overall nice place and we would not hesitate to come back. There was a line when we came in, and a line when we left. Good stuff. read more

After jonesing for some shrimp from Shipwreck for a couple of weeks, we finally get back there. I got my shrimp, and Sharon got fried chicken. The chicken was burned (photo attached). I finally talked Sharon into sending a dish back. Yay! The waitress, who was great, said 'ya a lot of people ask about that. It seems like it's the oil they use'. Um, ok, but we don't want it. So we split my shrimp dinner while the plate of burned chicken sat on our table waiting for the manager - who never came by our table. Instead, the 'manager' put it on the waitress to apologize on his/her behalf. The place was not that busy and that is a classless and gutless move. My rating drops from 4 to 2. read more

We were there on a Friday night to hear some live music and have dinner. I had blackened grouper with sweet potato fries and my husband had fried perch. Both were good, no complaints. Service was fine, no complaints as well. I was told due to the rising price of grouper there would be an up charge, which was $4. Seemed like a lot, but I agreed. We enjoyed the music alot and had a fun evening. read more

The food & service were great. We very much enjoyed the outside dining area. The ambiance was very nice!

Went for drinks....... Only got 1!!!! Staffing issues had the dining room closed. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the live music. Went to the bar for drinks and was ignored by every worker behind the bar. Other customers were walking out. We tried for drink #2 and failed. We left. Such a shame because the place looked nice and the little food I saw looked good too. Hopefully management can get the placed staffed. read more

My newest love. And WAY too close to home. Literally. Walking distance. I really have to practice self control. Every time I've been the service has been exceptional. Crab Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers are my favorite of all poppers I've ever had. The Mozzarella Sticks also delish. The Chicken Sandwich and the Grouper Sandwich both so great. This whole place is yum. I totally understand why there's always so many cars in the lot. Every time I drive by I'm jealous of the people inside eating. =] read more

Through the breaking sun light from miles of greenery lies an island of exotic artisian entrees over fresh cut fries keeping the hot summer nights wildly tasteful and original. The refurbished atmosphere brings a satiating and savoring seafood excursion with music, key lime sweet finishes, and an outdoor cozy eatery for a dinner as intriguing as the location away from the daily grind of after work traffic and shopping mall madness. First time I enjoyed the pig bread, and the fries are delicious. Voodoo sauce was new too, pulled pork, crumbled cheese I love, and a little buffalo sauce always wakes my tastebuds. Wish I had two stomachs for the shrimp that can be ordered on a wonderful plate made from true hearts of Florida. Ahhh! a place to feel closer to oceanic crustacean creations with white sand beaches in mind, and a welcoming and friendly tropical staff at this enchanting restaurant shipwrecked in the quiet wooded area of Griffith to getaway for a bite of Floridas finest seafood cooked and served nicely. Gotta go back. read more

Never have been to a worst restaurant in my 55 years than this one. Service, food and drinks were all terrible. Do not waste your time. Run run away dont stop. Did I say this the worst. Even told the manager and she was rude and unapologetic daid i paid for what i got. I would say for one round of drinks and dinner with tipfor $100 i got screwed. Btw I tip the waitress $25 because it was not her fault for lousy food. read more

We went on Wednesday the 27th. The food was fantastic. I loved the Halibut, the wife had the chicken we shared a crab jalapeno popper dish as an appetizer the wife had a couple of the signature rum drinks, I think it was called a Bahama Mamacita, she loved them. My beer was ice cold and a great local beer from New Oberpfalz. There were a few small glitches little thing like no bar napkins under drinks but all of the employees have only been there a few short days they all worked their ass off running most of the time I was there. We will be back often . read more

Northwest Indiana finally has a seafood Mecca! Mahi Mahi, Grouper, Halibut, Lake Perch, Red Snapper, and Shrimp all expertly prepared with creative sides and delicious sauces. Surf and Turf reigns supreme with Prime rib and steak sandwiches. The Nashville Hot Chicken is to die for. Craft beers, sangria, and cocktails were generous and tasty. Looking forward to a return visit to try the outdoor patio on a summer night. Servers were friendly and helpful throughout the meal. Very attentive to our needs. Great for couples, families & large groups. read more

Went there for dinner tonight for the first time and was told the dining room was closed. We were told that maybe we could sit out side and she would let us know. We waited about 10 minutes and she never came back. I guess they didn't like that I had my children or just didn't feel like possibly having a new customer. All I know is I won't be back. read more

prices are high, portions are small. $22 for a small piece of Grouper, a small pile of fries and a tiny cup of coleslaw. no bread or rolls. the shock came with the check. Went to the Shipwreck tonight. My girlfriend ordered a stout. 7-8 minutes later, waitress returns - no stout. Okay, it happens sometimes, so she ordered a beer. Then we ordered dinner. I ordered the full slab ribs, which was one of the specials for the evening. 10 to 12 minutes later, the waitress comes back saying they just ran out. How do you run out of a "special" by 6:05 PM? There were only four other tables there. And, it takes you almost 15 minutes to tell me that you're out? Not the first time this has happened to me and my guests at the Shipwreck, but it's definitely the last time. We got up and left. Went to Asada Grill & Cantina 10 minutes away. Excellent food and service there. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Many of my friends come here regularly and it seemed like a great spot for seafood. Maybe we just came on an off night. We started with drinks and appetizers. I got their version of the hurricane. Not awful, but my main experience with hurricanes are on Bourbon Street in NOLA, so my standards may be high. We ordered the cream stuffed jalapeno poppers, which came out ice cold in the center. They took them back and cooked them and comped is a free dessert, but the poppers were very bland. The scallops were very good. The baked potato was slightly undercooked, but not terrible. The slaw was extremely bland. It literally tasted like shredded cabbage tossed in mayo. My husband got the ribs, which I really wouldn't do at a seafood place, but his choice. They weren't bad, the sauce was a little too sweet for me, but I've definitely had worse. We'll probably try again, but I was really hoping for better. read more

First time here tonight. Good cold craft beer. Good lake perch. Our waitress was awesome!! Only issue was the salmon was overcooked and a little overpriced. We will go back. Shipwreck Bar & Grill was indeed a shipwreck. I ordered a Margherita pizza and Jalapeño poppers and both were horrible. First of all, the best dining experience needs good service. Angel was our server and his energy, attentiveness and attention was excellent! It was our first time and we had lots of food and it all exceeded expectations. The homemade salad dressing was delicious (creamy balsamic), the fried chicken had a good spice but the chef nailed the cooking time delivering the juiciest fried chicken I've ever had!!! Mac n cheese was a great side dish! Delicious comfort food! Oh, Oktoberfest brought us some special menu items, one which was German chocolate cake! It was heavenly!!! We will be back for sure!! read more

Came for dinner with my girlfriend on a Saturday night and LOVED the food. We split the buffalo shrimp and the lobster roll with Coleslaw and fries. ALLLL of the food was delish. For drinks I had the Strawberry mule which was also great. The service on the other hand was horrible. So slow. Hopefully our waitress was new. Overall, a positive experience. I will be back. While my second experience seemed to be flipped being the service was great, but the food was HORRIBLE. Well, the buffalo shrimp were on par, but the rest of the food was bad. I ordered one of the most popular dishes, the Jumbo lump Maryland Crab cakes and my husband ordered the Nashville hot Chicken. When my crab cakes were served, they were cold. So I sent them back. I got the same crab cakes back and took a bite. Where was the jumbo lumps? Not in there. They were ALL filler. I honestly would have ordered something else had it not been advertised as Jumbo lump. They were horrible, had zero flavor and the red pepper aioli was so bland, I didn't even eat any of them. My husbands chicken was so salty it was disgusting and I LOVE salt. The service was good. Our waitress was new, but she was great. I will go back and give it one more shot. read more

Wow. Sad to give this low score! We really wanted to like this place! First time we were here ( 4 mo ago ) we had a good overall experience. This time though, they were out of several very simple ingredients needed to make 7 menu choices. Due to this, we were very limited on what we could order . We were told they are changing the menu. Only two other tables were occupied and one couple, who was ignored for 10 minutes, just walked out. We ordered a plate with pork, and it was served room temp cold. Not a good sign. We will not return. Wouldn't surprise me to see a closed sign on this place in the not to distant future. I hope not though...I hope they listen to the patrons feed back, give some serious reflection on their service and make the changes necessary to become a very unique and successful area restaurant. read more
