We sat at the bar and this non-busy midweek evening and was cared for by Alissa, who was really spectacular not only as a bartender and server, but clearly as a human. She added to our enjoyable evening at Prime. The surf and turf my girlfriend had had such a great presentation and equally good quality taste. I had their shrimp with were perfectly grilled. The wedge salad was on point and classic. And then layer on Frank Sinatra tunes in the background while sipping the well made martinis made by Alissa...a great evening. My only negative would be the calamari I thought would have been better, not hot. Maybe not a 5 in the options of a large metropolitan city, but for the square on downtown Crown Point, an absolute 5. A small, cozy atmosphere; everyone was very friendly and attentive. We were seated right away by the owner, who was warm and welcoming. We started with the crab cake, which was very good and had a little spinach on top. We then had the lobster bisque, and to me, it tasted like tomato soup. The bread was just sooooooo good, my husband kept asking for more. The medium-rare filet mignon was cooked perfectly, accompanied by garlicky mashed potatoes that were incredibly good. My husband had the New York Strip, which he said was very delicious. Our desserts were the carrot cake and the turtle cheesecake, both of which were delightful. Stopped in for a midday dinner with my family today. The restaurant is right on the square, and luckily we found great parking even with Oktoberfest happening at the pavilion. We started with the fried mash balls. Super tasty, though the plating was a little unusual (they came with some lettuce and what seemed like an Italian island style dressing?). Regardless, everyone at the table enjoyed them! They do serve bread and a herb butter - we LOVED IT. For the kids, we ordered the Alfredo with chicken and the chicken tenders. The Alfredo was delicious but a bit pricey at $17 for a kid's meal ($6 to add chicken). The chicken tenders were solid and came with wedge fries for $9. I shared the New York strip (medium rare) with mashed potatoes and asparagus with my husband. The steak leaned more on the rare side but was still flavorful and tender. It does come with bone marrow which was a nice surprise. The mashed potatoes were delightful, creamy and seasoned perfectly. The asparagus, while nicely flavored, was a bit firm and there were only about five spears, which felt a little light on portion. However, the steak was a great size although a bit fatty in some areas. Also, the salad that comes with this steak meal was a great size and very well prepared. Our waitress was wonderful! She even brought out what looked like the restaurant's own seasoning blend (in the plastic bottle and all) for us to try at the table, something I've never seen at a nicer spot before, but honestly loved because it added great flavor. We also ordered the lobster bisque, and it was rich, flavorful, and presented nicely. Definitely a solid 4/5. To drink, I tried their apple cider margarita as a mocktail, and it was delicious, the perfect fall inspired drink. All in all, a really enjoyable meal with great service and cozy vibes. Would definitely come back to try more! The only downside was we asked for a porterhouse but were told they were on the way to the restaurant which is why we went with the strip. For a second year in a row, I made reservations for my annual birthday dinner. Just a group of 4 women getting together to celebrate another year. Unfortunately this will be our last year visiting this restaurant. The service we received from the owner was less than desirable. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation and was told we would have to wait since we were 30 minutes late for a 6pm reservation. Confused, I pulled up the reservation confirmation text from the restaurant and showed the lady at the front as well as the owner. The owner shrugged her shoulders and said that not what we have. I looked at the paper list they had and pointed to my name and they had written in 6pm instead of 6:30. I told them I'm not sure why, but I have the confirmation in text. I asked the young lady at the front how long and she said she wasn't sure, maybe 10-20 minutes. I asked what was the point of the reservation. I also let her know that I wasn't upset with her, I just didn't understand where the confusion came in. I asked the owner could we at least give them the birthday cake to keep in the kitchen and she made sure to let us know there was a cake fee. Considering the fact that our reservation was delayed due to their error, they could have not charged fee since we were inconvenienced. My group began to wait in the small waiting area that they have along with maybe 6 other people, all waiting to be seated. There were so many people in the small space, they were lining up the stairs. Which in itself was a hazard. A couple of us decided to go upstairs to their other restaurant to utilize the bar while we waited. A couple of us also went to their enclosed outside area to wait. There was a heater present but it wasn't even turned on. So we joined the other ladies upstairs at the bar. Making the best out of the situation we enjoyed drinks and sushi while we waited. 45 minutes past our reservation time, the hostess came to tell us our table was ready. I immediately went down stairs and stood at the hostess stand. She seated two other parties while I stood there waiting. The owner then came over and I let her know that the hostess had said our table was ready. They both at the same time said it was ready and pointed to a table by the window. No one walked me to the table. They didn't even give me menus. Which I felt was weird considering I had just watched her seat other tables by walking them to their table with menus in hand. I sat and waited for another 20 minutes before our waitress came over. Kerri was amazing, attentive and very apologetic for something that was out of her control. She noticed we didn't have menus and went to get some for us. Our actual dinner experience was great. Our waitress Kerri made my birthday dinner enjoyable. The lack of accountability from the beginning is what disturbed us. The hostess stand is a very important role to have and it was very unfortunate that the hostess was not knowledgeable in her own. At no fault of her own, it seemed as if she was new and had not received the proper training. During a busy season such as the holidays someone should have been with her to help her answer questions instead of her having to find someone each time we needed information. When we were finally seated, I asked for the manager on shift and that is when I was told that the older lady I had been speaking to whom I assumed was a manager was in fact the owner. That was surprising considering the treatment she was giving. Having a birthday during the holiday season has prepared me for wait times and having to make early accommodations for dinner. But I was not prepared for the lack of accountability that was shown and from the owner at that. While my family and I have patronized Prime Steakhouse and Theo's over the years, this will be our last season. Thankfully we had a phenomenal waitress and that I have amazing friends who worked double time to ensure that I enjoyed my birthday dinner but the experience should not have been ruined in the beginning by the owner to begin with. read more

The entrees, especially the steaks, are expensive. We had the lunch special which was a hamburger and potato. The hamburger although obviously a frozen patty from Gordon's was decent. My friend asked for pickles and lettuce. The bill included a dollar each charge for the pickle and a dollar for a piece of lettuce. Prime...the place is nice, the decor tasteful. The service is top notch. The steak is the best I've ever had. I only have a few minor critiques, first the menu was a laminated piece of card stock. While it lends itself to a tacky cheap feel, the real downside is the colores. It was a light blue with yellow or gold writing. This was nearly impossible to see in the provided light. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. Second, I ordered mushrooms and onions on my steak. While they were very flavorful they were very sparse, just like a very small spoonful. My wife and I decided to try this place as we heard good things about it from multiple people. We decided to try the East coast oysters and that was a mistake. They came out dry with no brine and tasted old. When we sent them back the waitress responded "they are fresh they shucked them at 4:00" when we were eating dinner after 7:00. Next we ordered the seared tuna appetizer which was another interesting item. The seared tuna came out with wonton chips, topped with bruschetta tomatoes and a balsamic glaze. The bruschetta overpowered the tuna and was a unique combination (there is probably a reason nobody ever does this combo). From there my wife ordered the fillet and I ordered the ribeye which came out cooked correctly and tasted good. The steak portions were massive and you get a salad with 2 sides with the steak so it was priced okay. The drinks were on point so that is the one thing this place has going for it. All in all we don't plan to go back to this place but it could have just been an off night for the joint. read more

I had the fillet and it was delicious. It was seasoned perfectly and I had a salad, asparagus, and a baked potato. From my understanding I was told that on a Wednesday night they have a special where you get that for $30 and it's half-price wine (bottle not glass). I went on a Saturday. The place does get very busy and I would suggest making reservations. Also note that if you take a booth in the far right corner near the bathrooms, you were also near the kitchen it's kind of loud over there. If you're looking for a area to have a nice day, I would say to try to avoid that spot. The other seating areas are very nice. They do have an upstairs where you can be seated, but it is a very steep climb so if you have anyone with mobility issues, make sure you don't get put up there. Just a heads up, I do have a heart issue and problems retaining water due to sodium intake. What I ordered seemed to be fine. When I went and weighed myself the next day, I did not gain any water weight. Typically when I go out to dinner anywhere I can gain up to 14 pounds overnight. The hostess and waitress were polite. The food was terrible. My husband and I each ordered a 26oz dry aged ribeye which was, as you can imagine, not cheap. We love steak and enjoy trying new steakhouses. This was the least tender ribeye I've ever had. I could've gone to Applebees for quality this low. I was shocked that this is considered to be a high end steakhouse. To top it off, my husbands steak was not seasoned. Honestly, someone forgot to season it. You could clearly taste the seasoning in mine yet his was very bland on top of it not being tender at all. When we told the waitress she didn't seem to know how to handle a complaint. We weren't asking for a refund. But a replacement steak could've been offered. Especially considering the price of each steak.
