Food here is pretty delicious, but I think the star of the show is always their chocolate cake. I mean seriously do not leave here if you like chocolate without having a piece of cake if you can't eat it definitely take a piece to go with you. It's not a cheap slice of cake, but it is 100% worth it. I went to an event here where their chocolate cake was the dessert and so many people did not eat a piece of chocolate cake and luckily the staff had brought boxes so you could take cake home and since I was one of the last people there and nobody was taking cake home. Unfortunately, the burger was mediocre at best. It didn't come close to competing with Bugaboos down the road, which also serves Wagyu burgers but executes them far better. I have now had the pleasure of Dino g here several times and I can say with confidence that this is such an amazing find in NWI. The views, the menu options and the fine dining feel without that fine dining process tag is amazing. I just had the best time here last night and Stephanie, our server, made my catch-up time with a friend, so much fun and enjoyable! When I had initially arrived, she saw that I was looking for my friend, and so sweetly showed me the way. Our table overlooked the water and we were able to see an amazing sunset all while having loads of deliciousness! It's definitely not the same since it changed ownership. I ordered Thanksgiving Take and Bake. I called specifically to make sure the turkey was a "real turkey". I was assured that it was a half of turkey. It was a loaf and was not edible. It's in the garbage now. We have lived 2 blocks from Tobes (Lighthouse) for over 20 years. Lovely restaurant which I am certain is a perfect place in the summer, right on cedar lake. We had reservations and sat in the bar until our table became available. I almost thought we weren't going to get a drink. Lots of bartenders who all thought someone else was helping us perhaps? Drinks were good. Table when dining and ambience are lovely. Very busy night. Staff very scattered and we kept asking for things missed. Pictures wouldn't have done justice to the food - better than it looked. Not a vegan restaurant but those having perch and salmon were happy. This is a steak place but none of us had that. It was not loud except the singer in the bar. We have been coming to the Lighthouse since it first opened up. We have date nights, family dinners, birthday celebrations here. We have even used their upstairs party room for Bridal and Baby shows. This place is our go to restaurant. We have become friends with their managers and staff. Some we consider like family. Our top notch waitress is Kelli. We have a pretty regular Wednesday reservation with her. Her attentive waitressing to our needs and family is excellent, her bright similar and friendliness is above par. On a Friday evening at 6 PM you run out of the house white wine ? Of course you have another white option at a much higher price. I ordered my meal blackened , it was not . I had to send my potatoes back , they were cold , and we dined with fruit flies the entire evening swarming our food . Am I being too hard ? I dined here a year ago and everything was perfect so perhaps it was a bad night but when two people spend 200 for dinner you want it to be at least average. Amazing views, The service was wonderful, quick and very attentive. It was a packed house and our server was still very attentive to our table. The ambience was wonderful. The only con I would say would be my daughter's grilled chicken was a little rubbery. It's also not something that's typically on their menu and they just did it for her because she's a pretty picky eater. It still would not make me not eat there again and I actually look forward to a night with just my husband and I. In order to write this review, I am forced to give it one (1) star. We were at Lighthouse Restaurant on 4/18, to celebrate a birthday. Our server, Annette, was great. We sat in the back with the view of the lake. The food was not. It must have been an off day for the kitchen? How? Our reservation was at 5:00. The restaurant opened at 4:00. We started with a couple of appetizers. Calamari - over fried and bland. My niece's filet was ordered medium. It arrived well done. My nephew had French onion soup ... bowl was hot, the contents inside, was not. He ordered his steak medium rare, requested sides to be seared. It was not seared. It didn't look appetizing. I ordered the Frutti di Mare, asked for garlic and easy olive oil instead of red sauce. It was very bland and there was so much olive oil, I wish I had paper towels to drain it. This was such a disappointing visit. We should've kept our reservations at another restaurant. We come here a 4+ times a year. We won't be coming back for a long time. read more
