We came with a party of 4 on Mother's Day around 3pm. We were seated right away and got our appetizer pretty quick. Our salads came out a bit later and then we waited 2 hours for our main dishes. We got home a little before 7pm. If we were there to enjoy company and conversation I probably would not have minded but I was there with a 2 year old who had lost his patience after 2 hours. Our server was incredibly sweet though and kept checking on us asking if we needed more drinks etc. My son's spaghetti was exceptional. I'd pass on the crab stuffed shrimp (which was what I ordered). To me it tasted like shrimp with crab Rangoon sauce. My aunt and grandmother loved their steaks. In the past I've ordered a pizza from here for pickup and I remember the lady that answered the phone told me she was too busy to take a credit card for payment over the phone (I didn't want the person that picked up paying, but they had to). Reservation for 15 people at Livio's on Christmas Eve at 6:30 PM. We arrived on time and waited 40 minutes with no table. The manager, Tony, offered zero apology, zero solutions, and at one point responded to our concerns with, "What do you want me to do?" The only suggestion was to split our group into booths--completely pointless for a large-party reservation, especially on a holiday. We solved the problem ourselves by going to Cafe Borgia, where Karen immediately seated us and provided excellent service and food. They saved our Christmas Eve. Livio's made it clear they don't value reservations or their customers. Message received. We won't be back. read more

I've eaten here before, just appetizers and during the day. We decided to join family here, after the movies. 1) Cup with soda, had film residue and had someone else's lip marks on them. The waitress stated that they were having issues with the dishwasher that's why it still had residue. She did get me a new one after I showed her the lip marks. 2) I ordered the Chicken Piccata, the taste was off and I couldn't figure out why. There was too much liquid. Decided to pack it up and take home. What was missing ... the capers! I wish I had taken a photo. 3) I was charged 3% on paying with a debit card. The waitress firmly stated that no matter if it's a credit or debit card, everyone gets charged the 3%. By law, debit cards are not supposed to be charged. The machine is supposed to recognize the difference between a credit card vs debut card. "It is illegal for merchants to charge service fees (surcharges) on debit card transactions in Indiana. Federal law, specifically the "Durbin Amendment" to the Dodd-Frank Act (15 U.S.C. § 1693o-2), prohibits debit card surcharges nationwide, even if the card is processed "as credit". Although the server was attentive the food was extremely disappointing! Baked stuffed shrimp was ruined with a heavy cream cheese topping that had some type of seafood in it. We couldn't figure out what it was. The mushroom stuffed ravioli was covered in a cream based tomato sauce. TERRIBLE The lemonade was of the type you'd expect at a subpar fast food chain. Since our beloved Carlo's closed I remembered they had a sister place in Indiana. My husband was craving the lasagna so off we went. It's not too far from us so we found it was easily. They are in a strip mall on the end, sign lit up you can't miss it. Plenty of parking. When we walked in there are two sides. The bar and what looks like a party room and a restaurant side I think. We were sent to the bar side. A U shaped bar with booths on the wall made it cozy. The party room was full. We sat at the bar until our table was ready and met some nice people for the most part. Bartender was nice and made good drinks. We did miss the relish tray not mirrored from Carlos but the waitress played along and brought me olives and two cherries. We laughed hard at that! My husband did claim the lasagna here was better and I didn't disagree. He was nice enough to give me a bite so I can't really say lol. I had the chicken parm and it was good. They have more sauces to choose from and you can mix and match. I added the garlic sauce under the chicken to my red sauce. Uhmazing! So glad we decided to make the trip the extra 20 mins! We've eaten here before but got pizza in the bar. This time we sat in the dining room. I ordered Lake Perch. I'm not sure what kind of fish it was but I know 1) it didn't look like Lake Perch 2) it didn't taste like Lake Perch 3) Lake Perch do not grow to be 1/8 inch thick and these pieces were all 1/16 inch thick 4) it was not Lake Perch Waitress asked if we wanted the manager when she told us she couldn't take it off the bill. Going downhill month by month. We tried to eat there again Sunday night, and walked in with 3 people at 7:20. No one was waiting to be seated so we figured we would have no issue getting a table. We were wrong AGAIN!. The lady at the front station said, in a very snide voice, "We are closed". I said "WHAT"? She then proceeds to tell us that if we go in and sit down we are not going to get any food before their normal closing time.. Turns out once again they have no staff to cook the food, so they were "backed up". The place has such poor management and rude staff. This used to be our weekly go to place. We stopped by for dinner on Friday and never made it past the front door. We've eaten here several times before and liked sitting in the bar area as opposed to the dining room. When I asked to be seated in the bar area the hostess was rude and stated that we had to sit in the dining area. I don't get the hype about livios anymore. I know it's been around a long time but it's become too much of an "old person" place. I don't understand how twice in one year I can order stuffed shells and they are so different. The cheese this time was so odd. It almost looked like shredded chicken and had a weird texture. Last time the sauce was chunkier and their specialty but this time it was watery. I thought they changed it but my nephew got the normal sauce. The salad was so tiny and had so much dressing that I couldn't eat it. I wouldn't go there unless I was with older people. Just not much flavor and the presentation is not very appealing. read more

Server was horrible. One of the worst servers I have ever encountered. Slamming things down on the table, running away before we could ask questions or for anything. Asked for a manager. None were available. So a hostess came to the table, we explained, she just made excuses for her. The food was good even though my filet was very over cooked. Was afraid to send back, didn't know what I would end up with. If they can get the server to understand that people leave what they think your service is worth. The waitress said the owner offered each of us a slice of free cake because we waited so long. I'm a sucker for a good Italian place and this place does not disappoint. Locals know that Livio's is the Indiana establishment by the infamous Carlo from Chicago Heights. While this is similar in menu I feel it to be a bit more modern and inviting than Carlo's was. Ok onto the food.... I can honestly say that I have never had a bad plate here. Bruschetta fresh & flavorful. Mussels in the shell sautéed with garlic, white wine and tomato sauce or olive oil. Calamari lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. My go to - chicken alfredo. Basic I know but it's hard to get it right. Al dente toothsome pasta, rich creamy alfredo sauce and a tender juicy chicken breast - perfection! My family swears by the LINGUINI alla LIVIO Gulf shrimp, scallops, tomatoes in a garlic and white wine sauce, tossed with linguini noodles. Their steak is always cooked to the temp ordered and is tender. I could go on and on. It is on the pricy side, but there are sandwiches and pizza available for those with a smaller budget. This used to be one of our favorite restaurant - I could not believe the bad reviews I've read. After tonights fiasco, now I understand. We had 6pm reservations for NYE. We arrived and checked in at 5:45pm. There seemed to be a lot of people with 5:30 reservations still waiting. The hostess proceeded to seat people out of order - it was chaos! About 6 more parties checked in after us , also for 6pm reservations. at 6:15, the host read off all the names of the people waiting - they did not read our name - they never checked us in! The host acknowledged his mistake and then proceeded to seat 4 tables of two that came in after us! There was no organization, and no one paying attention to the list. The worst part was the deplorable attitudes of the three people at the hostess stand.They did not care one bit about how many people they kept waiting. We never did get a table, left at 6:40 and ordered a pizza. It's a real shame, the food is good, the service is not. We will never go back. read more

Atmosphere is nautical, all aboard the food ship is ready for sail! This restaurant is complete with family dining in front and bar dining in rear. As I walked with my family members into the captains quarters(the bar area) instantly i was pleased. Pizzeria red leather and dark brown wooden barstools, soothing music of Streisand and Manilow, dimmers at every booth to set the mood. I loved it. The food...I ordered the mussels in marinara and wine and garlic for appetizer and seafood lasagna for my main course. Just delicious. Mussels were amazing. Seafood lasagna with garlic cream sauce.
