    Steak with loaded potato

My bestie and I made reservations for dinner for a Friday night.....you know your girl was late....but they were accommodating. The restaurant is located in the lobby of La Banque hotel in Homewood, Il, a south suburb of Chicago. Homewood is really revamping their downtown area adding more shops and restaurants. 69 Prime is a nice addition. Upon entry you notice the details of the design of the restaurant as it's located in a repurposed bank. The kitchen's entry door is like you're walking in a safe. Very nicely decorated, well lit and nice sitting. Bestie ordered Caesar salad and their maple bacon for an appetizer. I ordered the calamari. My appetizer looked amazing but lacked flavor. My friend's Caesar salad was nicely prepared but was small and the bok choy leaves served no purpose. Her bacon was not what she expected. Coming off her high for experiencing a bacon flight at another restaurant, she was somewhat disappointed to find pork belly vs bacon (yes it states pork belly on the menu, but that's neither here nor there lol). For our entrees, I ordered the branzino. Bestie ordered her steak with a loaded baked potato. My branzino looked amazing, excellent presentation but with ok flavor. My bestie likes her steak cooked to the Gods, well done, and it was just that, well done. Loaded baked potato was...ehh. It was loaded with cheese and bits of the same bacon from her appetizer...which is fat mostly. We pregamed so at dinner, bestie ordered a soft drink and I ordered San Pellegrino with fruit. My overall experience is mixed. I didn't care for the food but because of the service, I'll definitely try again. The service was impressive, our server was very attentive and that damn water presentation blew me away lol. I believe it has all the potential to be an excellent fine dining restaurant with some needed tweaking.

We were looking for a steakhouse and this was first up. The kids Alfredo was ordered first and we added shrimp to it. Since it was an Italian steakhouse, the pasta should be good. The Alfredo was excellent and the shrimp were large. The filet was way overcooked. Both of them! I should have had them to make it over, but I didn't. My fault. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy. It was actually way too much cheese. The grilled asparagus were good but they didn't have a grilled flavor. The bartender was our server and she wasn't very attentive because she was also tending to the bar. The restaurant was well decorated. It was connected to a hotel and the smell of the hotel as you entered was not welcoming. I heard other guests complain as well. I was disappointed. But I would definitely return for the Alfredo. My espresso martini was good. It had the restaurant's logo on top of it.

When they open this hotel, they sold it as a premium place to have dinner and stay locally. The hotel has always been very nice. I actually had my daughter's wedding at this hotel when they first opened in the lobby and it was beautiful. - Now to the restaurant it has had some struggles with the Previous restaurants in this location that said this new restaurant is amazing. I love the change, in the decor that they made the staff is much more pleasant and the menu is phenomenal. I was very impressed with everything about the restaurant. Everything seems very fresh. The drinks were great at the service was awesome. I would definitely recommend trying this spot. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Location 5/5 Parking 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Menu 5/5 Return Factor 5/5

I came here to get a bite. I hadn't been here since they changed the name. I got the glazed salmon and Caesar salad. My friend got the steak. The salmon was pretty good, not the best, but it hit the spot. My friend loved her steak, said it was super tender and tasty. The vibe is nice, and it's decorated well. The service was good, and my drink was perfect.

Living in the burbs has its perks but it's lacking in really good food and especially fine dining. This place turned out to be a real winner! I've dined in on a date and had delivery and the food is really good. You can taste the quality of ingredients and the attention to cooking preparation. The crab cakes are meaty and worth the price I just wish the sauces came on the side. If you love bread like I do take some to go, the bread and oil is fantastic! Lobster mac was good portion size and plenty lobster, cheesy enough too! Salads were fresh and the dine in service was attentive and courteous. Everything was neat, clean, and nicely decorated. If you're looking for a nice dinner stop by!

This review is coming from day one of opening. Met Rich the manager, very personable. They did a refresh to the interior from the previous restaurant, very nice. The scallops were aflame coming to the table. Great presentation and delicious! I had the wagyu with garlic herb butter cooked to my liking. Branzino was also good. We had the spinach and asparagus as the sides and they were wonderful. Drinks were a little slow but good. The bathrooms are downstairs but there is an elevator if needed. Plenty of parking in the rear and perhaps they will offer valet but I didn't ask. Enjoy!

Birthday Dinner 5/29 (3.5 Stars) I made reservations weeks out via OpenTable but as the day approached my invitee list grew. For parties over 4 persons you have to call for reservations which was fine as the hostess was very helpful. On the day of my birthday we had reservations for six people at 7pm. My mom and I arrived at 6:58pm but my group was running tardy. Like really tardy. 30+ minutes. Anyways, instead of changing the reservation the hostess was very welcoming and understanding and sat my mom and I in a booth in their larger party section. We joked about how we would have some drinks and apps while we wait. Waters were poured immediately but our server never came. I went to the bathroom downstairs, looked around the restaurant a little, chatted with my mom but still no server. At 28 minutes I got up and asked someone passing by if it would be possible to put some drink/app orders in and shortly after the request was our first introduction to our server. My full party arrived by 7:40pm. Again, super late I know but the restaurant was not busy and they were aware of the tardiness of my guests. We each ordered a drink as well as calamari and bruschetta for the table . 3/5 drinks had to be sent back because they tasted horrible. Simple drinks like a margarita, a paloma something called The Vault which was vodka based but all were extremely strong and heavily poured which may be ideal for some but not on this occasion.. Once we got them remade they were fine. I myself had the passion fruit margarita from the spirit free list but asked them to add tequila and I enjoyed it. Food: Now I will say the food is great. I had the Pollo Limón which was two large chicken breasts with lemon sauce over spinach. I choose a baked potato as the side. Their menu is à la carte. Others had steak and mushrooms, salad with shrimp, salmon etc. Everyone enjoyed their meals. For desserts we had the apple crumble, pistachio gelato, creme brûlée and for my birthday they brought out a little eclair puff on a birthday themed board with a candle. There was a bunch of idle time spent waiting around for service, for plates to be cleared, for the dessert menu and no one was offered a second drink but the food was good and that's important. We were there well after closing. Our bill was large and they add a fee for credit card payments but luckily my group had cash to pay. Overall, was it a nice dinner? Yes. Was the food good? Yes. The hostess was amazing, as a whole the waitstaff were super nice and the ambiance is great. The speed of service and the bartender lacked to me during this visit but I am happy to see this restaurant here in Homewood, wish them success and I will return. Notes: Street parking. Bathroom located outside of restaurant in basement. Service fee for credit cards I think 3%.

Looking for a last minute Mothers Day reservation, and 69 Prime was there to save the day. New to the Downtown Homewood area, and close to Mom's. Great smiles meet you at the door, and attentive staff once you are seated. Food was spot on. Big Thumbs up for saving the day 69 prime.

Since I was solo, I sat at the bar. I wanted to start with spinach artichoke dip. There was none. So, I ordered carrot and black bean tacos. The tacos were a good backup. Those who lean towards vegetarian would like them. I must say that I was expecting some heat from the jalapeños. For my main dish, I had the shrimp and grits. It took a few swallows before the flavor kicked in. The sauce was tasty, but was maybe a notch above mildly seasoned. I have a feeling that the tomatoes in the recipe added a little acidity. With the addition of spinach, this dish landed in gourmet territory. From what I gather, the restaurant has been under new management for a few years. It feels like they are working out kinks. I will give them a few months before I try them again.

Honestly, speaking, I wish I had better things to say however, I have to be honest. My reservation…read morewas at four. The doors were locked until 415 and that was because I called. I'm not really gonna talk about the ambience, because for me it wasn't there, but that is not the basis of my scoring. The old-fashioned made by our waiter was good, excellent, perfect. We wanted a margarita, but they let us know that they did not have the materials needed to make it. They also did not have the ingredients to make a few starters and entrées on the menu so their limited menu became even more limited. The food, we ordered crabcakes, and a colossal honey glazed shrimp. The crabcakes came out and they were flat, they looked like what was supposed to be one crabcake broken into three. The shrimp came out and instead of having colossal shrimp we had small shrimp, maybe even baby shrimp. We addressed the concern with the shrimp and they said they're not going to charge us for it. With our pasta came a side salad, the salad and the salad dressing, which was a lemon vinaigrette, was good. When we received the pasta, there was only four pieces of sausage, the chicken was unseasoned and the sauce was cheese sauce with hot sauce added, no other seasoning. Nothing about the pasta was Nola.

Famous for their thin crust Chicago-style tavern-style pizza (always cut in squares), this location…read moreof Aurelio's Pizza in Homewood is the oldest, located in the same city as the original. I had not heard about it until it made it to the national conscience when a native Chicagoan became the Pope, and his favorite pizzeria was identified as Aurelio's. So on a short visit to Chicago, my wife and I (along with her mom and aunt) made the longer trek to this location (even though there were many locations closer), and was really glad we did. Founded in 1959, it was the first Chicago pizzeria to franchise, with now 34 locations across the country (20 in IL, 11 in IN, 2 in FL, 1 in NV). This location is the oldest, and (thinking) the largest, with two stories of seating, and many separate rooms. They will seat you, keeping large sections empty during less crowded lunch time. There is a section where the current pontiff liked to sit during his visits back to his hometown, and one is allowed to take pictures, which we did gladly. The menu can vary amongst the locations, and this one does not have baked clams as I was hoping. So got a order of Bosco Sticks ($10 for 4), reminded me of Olive Garden breadsticks stuffed with a bit of mozzarella. The pizza sauce for dipping was good. Hot tea was ordered for the seniors ($3 each). There is a decent selection of draft beers, so got a pint of Blue Moon ($6.50) and Aurelio's Batch 59 ($6.50). The latter is hoppy, and I appreciated the very reasonable prices. As for the pizza, I really, really wanted it to be the best Chicago-style pizza I've ever had. Unfortunately, It wasn't: which everyone at the table (probably 150 years total of living in Chicago eating hundreds of pizzas) agreed with. The large 15" pizza ($29 for 2 toppings: toppings were fine (pepperoni and pineapple 1/2 with sausage [no fennel] and hot giardiniera 1/2), with plenty of cheese spread to the very end of the crust. The cheese had been beautifully browned. We had asked for it to be cooked in the 'old oven' (that request was even marked on the receipt). But the crust was a bit too thick and fluffy, and just wasn't as good as a lot of tavern style pizzas I've had (as an example, I much prefer the pizza from Rosati's, a chain that has even more locations, and each Chicago suburb town has their own local favorite as well: e.g. Quonset Pizza in Waukegan). So looks like this is really a South-side favorite. As for the service, the sitting hostess wasn't the friendliest, but Alyssa (our server) was great throughout: very friendly answering our questions and making sure we were doing OK. I ended up buying a t-shirt from the front counter (Pope Leo XIV: Poperoni (trademarked) Peace, Love, Aurelio's) for $25. Payment is made at the table, and they do have a 3% surcharge for credit card payment.
