They were highly attentive and responded to all of our needs quickly and happily in a very friendly, courteous way, Daisy and her team of bus support were unbelievably attentive. If you go on a day that she is there, ask to be seated in her section. Good service with good food has a tendency to take your experience to atmospheric levels! The bread baskets were filled with rustic Italian bread that was so delicious I thought I was at a trattoria in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Instead of butter, the upscale olive oil dip was very authentic. The menu offers a wide variety of choices for everyone that appeals to carnivores and vegetarians alike. Pastas, beef, pork, lamb and seafood. I asked to substitute one starch for another and the chef made it happen! The food was incredibly fresh. My dining companions has the Maple glazed salmon. The other had the lamb chops. Both raved about the freshness of their meals as well as the perfection to which their dishes were cooked! I had the scallops and substituted the starch with Truffle Fries. The theatrics associated with the presentation of my scallops was breathtaking. It was au flambé! They were so fresh and slightly crusted, i'd never tasted anything that delicious before. Even popular and legendary EAST COAST seafood restaurants could learn a lot about the preparation and presentation of scallops. My meal appropriately mixed textures, tangy tartness and sweetness in the veggie dish consisting of chopped zucchini sweet potatoes and spinach. My husband and I dined here on Sunday evening, and unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I understand that serving tables can be demanding. I also understand that servers sometimes make assumptions about guests. However, every customer deserves the same level of attention and service, regardless of what a server thinks the tip may be. According to the receipt provided by the manager, I believe our server's name was Jaden. Unfortunately, she never introduced herself and only checked on our table once throughout the meal. Most of the service we received actually came from the manager on duty. I found myself repeatedly getting up to ask for things until I finally asked Jaden, if she was our server. I hoped that would prompt a little more attention to our table, but it didn't. Instead, she remained focused on another table that had arrived before us and was still there after we left. I watched her check on them four or five times while our table was largely ignored. Whether intentionally or not, it certainly felt as though she had decided our table wasn't worth her time. If that was her assumption, then in this particular case she was correct about one thing: my husband and I will not tip for bad service. I have no problem rewarding excellent service, but I also believe tips should reflect the quality of the experience provided. Rather than leaving money for poor service, I chose to give the cash I had to the busboys, who were attentive and helpful throughout the evening. The server was wonderful - WHEN she was available. Our wine order sat on the bar for 15 minutes and we could see it sitting there. We did not get it in time to enjoy with meal. My friend's Caesar salad was nicely prepared but was small and the bok choy leaves served no purpose. Her bacon was not what she expected. Coming off her high for experiencing a bacon flight at another restaurant, she was somewhat disappointed to find pork belly vs bacon (yes it states pork belly on the menu, but that's neither here nor there lol). For our entrees, I ordered the branzino. Bestie ordered her steak with a loaded baked potato. My branzino looked amazing, excellent presentation but with ok flavor. It was actually way too much cheese. The grilled asparagus were good but they didn't have a grilled flavor. The scallops were aflame coming to the table. Great presentation and delicious! I had the wagyu with garlic herb butter cooked to my liking. Branzino was also good. We had the spinach and asparagus as the sides and they were wonderful. Drinks were a little slow but good. The bathrooms are downstairs but there is an elevator if needed. It is a very cozy and upscale atmosphere which I love for a steakhouse. ls like you are in the city and the outdoor looks beautiful with flowers all around. Birthday Dinner 5/29 (3.5 Stars) I made reservations weeks out via OpenTable but as the day approached my invitee list grew. For parties over 4 persons you have to call for reservations which was fine as the hostess was very helpful. On the day of my birthday we had reservations for six people at 7pm. My mom and I arrived at 6:58pm but my group was running tardy. Like really tardy. 30+ minutes. Anyways, instead of changing the reservation the hostess was very welcoming and understanding and sat my mom and I in a booth in their larger party section. We joked about how we would have some drinks and apps while we wait. Waters were poured immediately but our server never came. I went to the bathroom downstairs, looked around the restaurant a little, chatted with my mom but still no server. At 28 minutes I got up and asked someone passing by if it would be possible to put some drink/app orders in and shortly after the request was our first introduction to our server. My full party arrived by 7:40pm. Again, super late I know but the restaurant was not busy and they were aware of the tardiness of my guests. We each ordered a drink as well as calamari and bruschetta for the table . 3/5 drinks had to be sent back because they tasted horrible. Simple drinks like a margarita, a paloma something called The Vault which was vodka based but all were extremely strong and heavily poured which may be ideal for some but not on this occasion.. Once we got them remade they were fine. I myself had the passion fruit margarita from the spirit free list but asked them to add tequila and I enjoyed it. Food: Now I will say the food is great. I had the Pollo Limón which was two large chicken breasts with lemon sauce over spinach. I choose a baked potato as the side. Their menu is à la carte. Others had steak and mushrooms, salad with shrimp, salmon etc. Everyone enjoyed their meals. For desserts we had the apple crumble, pistachio gelato, creme brûlée and for my birthday they brought out a little eclair puff on a birthday themed board with a candle. There was a bunch of idle time spent waiting around for service, for plates to be cleared, for the dessert menu and no one was offered a second drink but the food was good and that's important. We were there well after closing. Our bill was large and they add a fee for credit card payments but luckily my group had cash to pay. Overall, was it a nice dinner? Yes. Was the food good? Yes. The hostess was amazing, as a whole the waitstaff were super nice and the ambiance is great. The speed of service and the bartender lacked to me during this visit but I am happy to see this restaurant here in Homewood, wish them success and I will return. Notes: Street parking. My husband made a 7pm Saturday reservation to celebrate my birthday. We chose 69 Prime based on a recommendation from our daughter and its proximity to home. Unfortunately, the experience didn't match our expectations. When we arrived, no one greeted us. Two staff members eventually came to the host stand, but instead of acknowledging us, they finished what they were doing and then asked, "Do you have a reservation?"-still without so much as a hello. We were told our table would be another 10-15 minutes and were sent to the bar. Thankfully, the bar staff was warm and welcoming, and the drinks were excellent. That ended up being the highlight. Once seated, we ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese with an 8oz filet and the Wagyu Ribeye, both medium. My dish was prepared perfectly, but my husband's steak arrived well-done. The waitress noticed immediately and sent it back. When the replacement came, it was still overcooked-closer to medium-well. The manager, Mattie, then came over and apologized. She stated clearly, "It looks like you'll be eating on us tonight." We didn't ask for that; she offered it. However, when we asked for the check, our server explained that Mattie would only be taking 10% off and offering a complimentary dessert. Mattie then returned to our table and implied that we must have "misunderstood" what she said. We were stunned. We both heard her clearly, and rather than acknowledge that she overstepped her authority or made a hasty promise, she chose to deny her own words. The issue was not the bill-we fully intended to pay for our meal. The issue was the lack of accountability and integrity. A sincere acknowledgment would have gone much further than a discount and a dessert that took far too long to arrive. First impressions matter, especially for a special occasion. While the drinks were great and my entrée was solid, the inconsistent service, lack of hospitality, and the manager's unwillingness to stand by her own statement made this a disappointing experience. My mom and I got steaks and they were cooked to a perfect medium. My sis got the short rib ravioli and there wasn't a drop left on her plate. The sautéed mushrooms were in desperate need of seasoning and flavor, but that's my only complaint about the food. I get it's new, but where is management? Ordered scallops, filet with garlic herb butter, and truffle fries. Scallops had quite the presentation, but it was really unneeded. They come out on fire. I would have much rather they used the fire to cook my filet. Ordered it medium and once we cut in it was RAW. Like obviously way undercooked RARE. Waiter confirmed was underdone and took it back. One of us sat without food for 10 minutes. Steak came back, they threw the two halves on the heat and overcooked it with no flavor and threw a new slab of butter on top. Management did not come over and acknowledge at all. For a $55 steak deserved better. $5 garlic butter added nothing to the steak and truffle fries were not good. Will not return.
